DERRIC: I know how late it was, but I also know that Iesha probably would not sleep for the fear of being hurt. I led all of the ranked wolves and my head delta to the clinic. We entered Iesha’s area. Her head snapped up immediately as we entered. “Alpha.” She acknowledged my presence as she eyed the others. “Iesha, your father told me that you were a witness to what happened to Chiara two weeks ago.” “I am, I told the principal, but he didn’t do anything to stop it.” “Will you please tell me?” “What assurance do I have that they won’t do the same to me if I do?” “Look who I have here.” I said to her. As I waved my hand to encompass the ranked families and my head delta. “They are the parents of the ones in question, I do believe?” “Yes, but what will they do? Will they believe me, a lowly omega? Or their own?” she asked with a hint of fear and a touch of defeat to her voice. “I promise, we will listen to what you tell us.” I told her.

IESHA: “Chi always blames the ranked squad for what happened to Jace. And with what happened to her tonight, I will no longer try to defend them or try to get her to not blame them. As it was deemed an accident.” “I understand.” The Alpha said. I looked at the ranked adults standing there. They were intimidating to say the least. But I guess for Chi’s sake, I needed to tell them what happened. “Valen called her out on Tuesday; she called her a fat pig. Told her to make sure that her dress was clean for the party that Saturday night, and not to get her stench all over it. At the time, we didn’t know that it was the twins’ homecoming. Chi did answer back, ‘Well, if you don’t trust me to do it right, then ask someone else.’ That set Valen off. She got in Chi’s face. ‘Did you just talk back to me bitch?’ again, Chi answered back, ‘No, I would never talk back to the Luna’s enforcer, goddess forbid.’ Then Valen slapped her hard across the face and told her to know her place and watch her mouth, and not to disrespect the Luna. I think she was going to hit her again, but Chi said, ‘Go ahead, Valen beat me, then you won’t have to worry about me getting my stench all over your laundry.’ That happened before 5th hour, after 5th hour, Valen, Cassie, Carri, and Brandi were waiting for her as she walked out of her class, and gang beat her.” I told them all. The Alpha was nodding at my words. The rest just stood there. “Iesha, do you remember the conversation that was had when Chi burned the dress?” Alpha asked. “You know?!” “I didn’t, but I spoke to Donna.” “Chi, had Donna linked me to come to the orphanage, they were going to have a small bonfire. I was confused. Why were they having a bonfire in the middle of the afternoon? But I went, when I got there, Chi had a beautiful green dress and matching shoes. Chi said it was a gift from the Luna, but there was no card to indicate who it was from.” I told them. “Chi said that it would visually mark her as the target for this year’s Party/Prom. And she refused to wear it. I couldn’t believe what she said, so she told Donna to tell me what happened to her. That she too got a green dress and matching shoes. And she was severely beaten, and that was the year Jace died.” I told the story. “So, if it marked her as a target, who was the target for?” The Alpha asked me. “The ranked squad.” I deadpanned. At this point, I don’t care if they don’t like the term; it fits.  “Who’s in the ranked squad?” The alpha asked. I just looked at him. He nodded. “The alpha twins, all the betas, gammas, and Brandi.” Again, I deadpanned my answer. “Thank you, Iesha. Get some rest.” “Will they get punished this time?” I asked, without much hope. “I promise you I will investigate everything you told me. If I find any collaborating evidence, they will be punished.” “Including the Luna?” “Yes, including the Luna.” I nodded at him. I’ll believe it when it happens. I thought to myself. Then they all left my room.

DERRIC: “I am going to take Rich upstairs to Chiara’s room; the rest of you can head out and go get some sleep.” I told them. They all just nodded and headed for the door. I turned to Rich. “Follow me.” I said. And headed for the stairs. He followed me up. We got to the room where Chiara was. I opened the door and let him enter ahead of me. I watched him closely. He physically faltered seeing her. “Oh goddess! Alpha.” “I know. I want to beat all of them for what they did to her. And yes, that includes my Luna. I am inclined to make them all stand vigil over her for 30 minutes every day until she wakes up, if she wakes up, and make them spend a night in the cells for every day she is in the coma. And if she doesn’t survive, they will get a lash from the silver whip for every scar she has on her body.” “Any thoughts on your part?” I asked him. “No, Alpha, it’s fair.” His voice came out as a harsh whisper. “And Rich, this is after they put her in here two weeks ago.” I said to him. He looked at me, and I nodded. “Go home, get some sleep. I need to wait on the report from the doctor, and I need to check the bank and credit card statements before I do anything.” We head for the door. I was spent. I needed to sleep. I was glad for once that my Luna was gone. I don’t think that I could have kept it together if she were here. 

CAIDEN: I am up early the next morning and head down to grab breakfast in the Pack house dining room. I see my brother come in shortly after me. Then the rest of our group came in. I immediately open a link to all of them. “We all need to be ready for some serious fallout.” “What happened?” Vince asked. “Did you not hear the scream last night?” “I did.” Chad said. And the rest of them nodded. “That was Iesha. She is Chiara’s friend. I guess Dad told her that Chiara was in the clinic in a coma, and she couldn’t handle the news. She went into a state of shock. So now he will be doing a full investigation, and he said that he would, ‘Alpha command’, any and all witnesses that he comes across to tell him the truth. We just thought that it would go easier if we fessed up to everything, but to also make him truly understand that Jace was an accident.” I watched as they blanched at what I said.
