CHIARA: “Kind of like waiting for the other shoe to drop?” “Yeah, something.” “And what’s really weird is nobody has picked on me today, at least not yet, I know the day isn’t over with yet, but still.” I tell her. “Maybe because the twins are back?” She said. “Why would that matter? They would encourage the bullying, so that doesn’t hold up.” I said. “Well, don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, just accept it and be thankful for the reprieve.” She says to me. And I nod. “It’s weird, too. I haven’t seen Valen all day either.” I say to her. “Well, that’s a blessing, isn’t it?” “More than.” I say. She nods. The bell rings, signaling the end of lunch. We head back to the lockers and grab our books for 5th and 6th   hours, and head down the hall. After the bell rings, ending 6th hour, we go get the rest of our books. “Do you want me to come to your place and help you with your book report?” I asked Esha as we were leaving the school. “Any help I can get on that report would be a blessing.” She said. “Done.” And we headed to Iesha's house so I could help her with her book report. “Esha, tomorrow during lunch, I want to go see the woodworking class and talk to the teacher.” I tell her. “What on earth for?” “Donna gave me an idea for a gift for the twins’ birthday.” I tell her. “Since when do you want to give them a gift?” she asked. “It’s only polite to reciprocate in kind, only mine will be necklaces, not bracelets, and they will be on braided cords, not chains. I just need them scroll cut.” I tell her. “Ok, I guess.” “Thank you. Now, let's get that report done so you don’t stress about it.” I tell her. We worked for the better part of the afternoon on getting our book reports done, so that we could concentrate on our other subjects without that hanging over our heads till the end of school. Tuesday followed Monday’s footsteps, with one variation: I went to speak to the woodshop teacher. “I would like to learn to do this myself. I am hoping that you will teach me. Show me how to set up the scroll saw  and how to run it.” I tell him. “I can. When would you like your lessons?” “Can I start tomorrow after school?” “I think I can manage that.” “Thank you so much.” “You're welcome. Just know I don’t tolerate tardiness.” “I will do my best to be here. I promise.” And I left. “Iesha, he said he would teach me. I start tomorrow after school.” I whispered/screamed at her. I was so excited. “Ok, ok. Calm down, we still have to get through the rest of today and tomorrow before you lose it.” She tells me. She is right, I need to chill, but I am buzzing with the prospect of being able to learn how to do something that could give me a potential income when I leave here, other than the usual serving-type jobs. Working in a factory could be very satisfying work, especially if it’s making something useful with your own hands. The rest of the day was quiet, again, no Valen. I was starting to worry that she was going to jump me somewhere, so I started checking around corners, before I turned down them. I didn’t trust her not to pop out from somewhere and knock me in the head. Wednesday started the same as the first two days, but at lunchtime, there were four students who were called into the principal’s office. I was one of them. I didn’t understand it. I had done nothing wrong, so why was I being called into the office? When I got to the office, I noticed the three other people. I knew Anna, like Iesha, she was an omega and worked in the diner after school and on weekends. Her family counted on her paycheck to help them get by. I knew Craig from the orphanage. The other one, I had no clue about. And the Alpha was there, and so were the twins. SHIT! Now what? I guess the other shoe is about to drop?

DERRIC: “It has been brought to my attention that the four of you have not attended the Prom/Party. I am here to change that.” I said. “You all will be going.” I, Alpha, commanded them. Then Chiara stepped forward. “Alpha, please don’t make Anna go; her family needs her paycheck to get by on.” She said. And I was half expecting her to plead for herself. “Is what Chiara said true?” I turned to look at the other girl. “Y-y-yes A-a-alpha.” She stuttered out at me. “Fine, I release you from the command. She took a breath. “T-t-thank y-y-you Alpha.” “You are welcome. But as for you other three, you will be going.” “Yes, Alpha.” They all answered in unison. I watched Chiara’s face go pale as she realized she had no choice but to go to the Prom/Party now. I know I am being a bit harsh, but if I am going to get to the bottom of what the hell has been going on in my pack, I will be a bit of an asshole. “Dismissed.” I watched as they turned and left the office. I heard Anna. “Thank You, Chi. I would have been crushed if I had to miss a Saturday of work; it’s one of our busiest days.” “Hey, it’s ok. No need to thank me.” I heard her say.

CHIARA: I stood there with them. I couldn’t believe he would actually alpha command us. And the whole entire time, the twins were grinning like they had just won the lottery. When I got back to the lunchroom, I found Iesha. “You will get your wish after all.” I tell her. “What happened? Why were you called to the office?” “Literally to be Alpha commanded to go to the damn Prom/party.” “What? That doesn’t make sense.” She said. “It does to me. He finally figured out who sent those cards all these years, so I am his choice to watch, and if I end up back in the clinic, he will know that what I said about his Luna is true. But then it just remains to be seen as to what he does with that information, and her.” I tell Esha. “Oh, Chi, I am sorry, but I am happy that you will be going.” She said. I smiled, but didn’t say a word. All I wanted to do was go to my room, lock the door, and not come out until I knew I was 18. When I got back to my room after my lesson in woodshop that afternoon, there was a white box on my bed, about the size of a man’s dress shirt box. But it was deeper. I opened it. Inside was a green midi-length dress, it had a scooped neckline, princess seams, A-line, and flutter-capped, short sleeves, in jersey knit. With shoes to match. I just broke out laughing. Donna came into the room right then.
