Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human Chapter 87
CHIARA: I can get a job doing factory work and making my bracelets on the side for a little extra cash. I can totally do that. But right now I have to concentrate on my tests. I get through my morning routine, grab my backpack, and head downstairs to help Miss Blair get breakfast for the rest of the kids in the orphanage. At 8:30, I head to school. I know I’m early, but I will wait by Iesha’s locker for her. “Iesha, I have news for you.” I whisper/scream at her the minute I see her. “What! What is it?” she whispers/ screams back. I wait until she situates her backpack, then I pull her with me to some place where there are fewer prying eyes and ears. “I’m a wolf!” I whisper into her ear. “I shifted at midnight.” I whispered again. And I stepped away from her to see her reaction. “What?! Oh, goddess Chi, that’s great news! Can I meet her? What’s her name?” Esha was practically buzzing. “Shh!” I shushed her. Then her eyes got big as saucers. “Chi, your birthday!” Esha exclaims. “Yeah, I know, it means it’s today! And of course, you can meet her, and you already know her name, remember about the two pups I told you about when I was with the goddess?” she nods. “It’s Thena.” “I can hardly wait to actually meet her.” Iesha squealed. We headed to our respective places, Esha heading to her class and me heading to the office to check in and find where I need to go in order to get my test done.
JAYDEN: All of us in the ranked unit, except for the girls, were in the middle of our hand-to-hand combat when all of a sudden, Steel just pushed forward and growled. (“School now!”) I heard the same thing coming from my left side; it was Axel, he to let out a growl. (“School NOW!”) And before we could stop them, they took off at a dead run. Father was yelling after us. “Get back here! You are not done with your training!” (“DON’T CARE SCHOOL NOW!”) Axel roared. And Steel was right alongside, running with us. I could feel the anxiety coming from both Vince and Chad. *“Stop worrying, you both would know if there was something wrong with your sisters.*” I shot through the link at them. *“Well then, what the heck is going on?”* Chad shot back. *“I haven’t got a clue, but Axel says school now, and he is not relinquishing control, not in the slightest.”* Again, I answered back. *“We'd better come with you in case there is some kind of trouble.”* Vince sent through the link. All I could do was nod and try to keep Axle under some kind of control.
CAIDEN: It was useless trying to wrestle control back from Steel. He was like a horse that took the bit between its teeth, put its head down, and took off. I was basically a passenger right now. And although I don’t usually mind when I am a passenger, I still have some idea of what is going on. Right now, I have no clue, and he isn’t talking; he is just running toward the school. The rest of the ranked unit were right behind us. (“Steel, this had better be good, or father is going to go ballistic on us.”) I said to my wolf. (“Don’t care. Need to get to the school!”) That was the mantra of the morning. ‘Get to the school.’ That’s all they would say, nothing about why. It was getting beyond irritating. We got to the school, and they still wouldn’t slow down. We ran all the way to the principal’s office. Then I smelled it. It was like a meadow after a spring shower. Light, fresh, clean. Steel took in a deep breath and instantly was calm.
JAYDEN: Axel went full bore and slammed into the principal’s office. Then the smell hit him full on. It was the smell of fresh-baked bread and apple pie. It made my mouth water. But Axel, it was like turning him into a puppy. It was crazy how he did 180. “Alpha’s, how can I help you?” Henry, the principal asked. “Who’s in here?” I demanded. “I don’t know what you mean?” He said. “Who has that sweet, fresh smell? Who is here?!!” Caiden practically yelled. “Alpha, calm down, please. Chiara is here taking her tests. To see if she can graduate.” Henry said. “Where?” Axel growled at him. He pointed to a door. Both Caiden and I went over to the door and opened it, and stepped inside. We watched her as we entered. And all of a sudden, her head snapped upward, and she slowly turned to see us standing there.
CHIARA: I had just started my test when I heard a commotion in the outer office, but I ignored it. I had to concentrate on my tests. Then the door opened. I was hit with the most wonderful smell of pine and bayberry, along with aromatic cider and herbs like thyme, rosemary, and oregano. Thena was going nuts in my head (“Mates, mates, mates!”). She kept chanting. I turned and looked at the door. I saw the twins standing there, their eyes locked on me. ‘No, no, no. It can’t be, why would the goddess be this cruel?’ I thought to myself. (“Thena, I can’t, not them.”) (“But they are our mates.”) (“NO! Thena, they are not my mates; they may be yours, but not mine. I can’t, not after everything they have done to me.”) (“Chi, they will love us, they won’t hurt us anymore, and they will take care of us.”) She said. I couldn’t take it. (“Thena, I will not deny you your mates, so I won’t reject them. But I am not going to accept them either. After everything, I can’t believe the mate bond can just cancel everything out like that. They put me in a coma for a month, for goddess's sake. How am I supposed to just overlook that? No, the acceptance is all on you. I don’t want any part of them.”) I told her and pushed her forward, and blocked myself behind a wall of brick that I pictured in my mind. I couldn’t deal with them.
CAIDEN: I watched her eyes glaze over. Wait. What? How is that possible? She is human! I watched the emotions that flitted across her face. Then I saw the fear in her eyes, and it nearly dropped me to my knees. Our mate feared us. This was a mess. I could feel the emotions running through Jayden, mirroring my own. Oh, goddess, please don’t let her reject us. We will spend the rest of our lives making up for what we did to her. I swear it! Then something happened; it was as if Chi wasn’t there. “Chi?” I asked tentatively. Reaching out to her. She turned her head to look at me. “No, I am Thena.” I heard her voice. It was like music to my ears, but it wasn’t Chi’s. “I’m pleased to meet you, Thena.” I said. “Pleased to meet you, Caiden, Jayden.”
