VALEN: “I wonder if her getting out ties into anything?” Carri asked. “I wouldn’t think so. She doesn’t know anything about Rolan, except that he is Hayley’s cousin, and the twins’ uncle, and that he is bad news. According to Hayley.” I said. “Well, either way, the guys are going to need to hear about what happened today. Let's just hope that it’s done with. Brandi said as the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch.

CARRI: I sent a link to Chad when Cass and I were on our way to 5th period. *“I have detention today right after school. Please tell the Alpha I will be late for training. Please don’t ask the obvious question right now; Cass and the others will fill you in later. I just wanted to give you a heads up, so that I don’t get extra punishment because I can’t be in two places at once.” “Fair enough.”* I closed the link. And walked into class.

CHAD: After I got the link from Carri, I linked the twins. *“Carri just linked me. She has detention after school, so she will be late for training. I don’t know what happened; she didn’t tell me, said that Cass and the others will fill us in.” “We will tell Father, but there had better be a good reason for it.” “We will just have to wait until they come home.” “Mmm.”* I got from both of them. And I closed the link. And go back to the specific chess problem in front of me. We have all found that it has gotten a little easier to hold the link, even when we are dosed.

ROLAN: The boys were quick to come by after school to get their payment. I asked for specifics on how they planted the stuff. They had to get creative with Iesah. Poor Mitch, he doesn’t want to lose the QB position on the team. And I don’t want to lose him as a customer. It’s a fine line to walk. But I am thinking that after the twins’ party on Saturday, Hayley and I will be leaving. I think I will leave Simon in charge of carrying on operations here. And if Hayley thinks she is getting off the hook for not being around, she'd better think again. I have a special kind of hurt, waiting for her when we get home.

DERRIC: The boys let me know that Carri was given detention after school. So, I took it upon myself to find out why. I linked the Henry. *“What happened that one of my gammas has detention?” “I don’t know Alpha, but I will find out and get back to you.” “Please do.”* I closed the link and waited for Henry to get back to me. It was a good 10 minutes later when I felt the push of a link. I open to it. *“Sorry it took so long, Alpha. Apparently, she was late for class, so her teacher gave her detention.” “Did she give a reason for being late?”* I asked him. *“Again, apparently she had forgotten her book for class, and according to her, she had to break up a fight that was happening in front of her locker before she could get her book, which in turn made her late for class.” “Thank you, Henry. Who is her teacher for the class she was late for?” “Mrs. Hearts.” “Ok, again, thank you, Henry.” “Welcome, Alpha.”* I closed the link. I am not happy that she is in detention for this, so I am going to pay Mrs. Hearts a visit, get Carri out of detention, and get it removed from her record. I link the boys. *“Training will be postponed for an hour, maybe more. I am going to go deal with why Carri is in detention.” “We would like to come with you. If that’s alright?” “Ok. Meet me out front in 3 minutes.”* I tell them and close the link.

JAYDEN: The minute that school let out, Valen linked us, filling us in on everything that had gone down with the girls. I wanted to know if there was anything else that happened with Carri other than the whole detention issue, because if there were other things that happened, besides the fight, then there is something definitely going on behind the scenes that we need to get to the bottom of. And if it is what I am thinking, then I will tear Rolan limb from limb before he can cry for mercy. Both my brother and I met Father out in front of the packhouse and went over to the school.  

CAIDEN: We followed Father into the principal’s office first. “Henry, I would like this taken off Carri's record. I am going to go have a chat with both of them and find out what happened.” Father said. He nods. And we leave. “Dad, we will go get Carri and bring her to Mrs. Hearts’s room for you.” I said. “Thank you, that will save some time.” Dad answered. Jay and I left to head to the detention room, which was technically a small area in the back of the library. We walk in, and I link Carri. *“Come to the front of the library, we are hear to take you to Mrs. Hearts’s room, Dad is there.” “Am I in trouble?” “No, at least not that we are aware of. But we want to know exactly what happened, and so will Dad, but we want to hear it first. We think that it has something to do with Rolan, that’s why we want to hear it from you first.”*

I tell her. *“Exactly, we know it’s not like you to forget your books.”* Jayden said. We didn’t have to wait long for Carri to join us. “You know, I honestly thought that I had it. Now that you say that.” Carri says as she joins us at the front of the library. “So, walk us through your day, and let's see if we can figure out what the hell Rolan is trying to pull.” I said. “Everything was good, I did forget that I had put my assignment for second hour in my book, instead of in its folder, so that threw me off a little today, and when I was looking for it, there were a couple of students by my desk that offered to help me go through my backpack to find it.” “Were they students that you knew? I mean, really knew?” I asked. “One was, Jenny.” “And the other?” “Kurt, I don’t know him as well.” “Is it possible that one of them took your book?” I asked. “Yeah, I suppose it’s possible, but how the heck could they have gotten it back in my locker?” Carri asked. “That is a good question, and one we will get the answer to later. But right now, we need to get to Father and Mrs. Hearts.” “Carri, just stick to the story of you forgetting your book. We need to deal with Rolan ourselves.” Jayden says. And she nods. We are in front of Carri’s fourth-hour classroom, and we knock. “Come.” We hear Father’s voice.
