Alpha Twins' Mate's broken Human Chapter 124
IESHA: Chad asked me. “Chiara is missing.” I handed him her phone. I continued to call for her. Chad's eyes glazed over, so I knew he was linking the twins. I again started to backtrack the path we took. I’m not a tracker, but maybe I can find something, anything that might tell us, or give us some clue as to what happened to her. There were prints, but there were also numerous tracks, and all of them pointed in the direction of the fire; nothing indicated that they were heading in a different or opposite direction. The twins joined us then. “What’s going on?” Caiden asked as he and Jayden joined Chad and me. “Chiara is missing.” Chad told them.
JAYDEN: The minute Chad spoke those words, I reached for the bond. She wasn’t panicking, so she either felt safe or she was unconscious. I prayed it was the former, but Chad had Chi’s phone in his hand. I feared that the latter was a more likely scenario. (“Steel, can you feel her?”) I asked my wolf. (“I know she is alive. But that is all I know.”) He tells me. I released the breath that I hadn’t realized I was holding.
CAIDEN: I nearly lost it. When Chad said that Chi was missing, my world spiraled into a black hole. (“Axel, can you feel her? Can you find her?”) I went straight to my wolf to see if he could help. (“I know that she is not dead. I can’t get a full read on her.”) He says. And again, my world goes almost black. I SWEAR I WILL KILL WHOEVER TOOK HER! I roared. And I know the whole pack heard me. Jayden and I organized a search. Starting from where we stood, back to the Packhouse, and into the woods beyond it. I watched as Jayden’s eyes glazed over. So, I waited. When he was clear, “Who did you link just now?” I asked. “Father, to make sure the perimeter wasn’t breached, or no vehicles left the pack in the last 30 to 40 minutes. He said no to both.” I nodded. Then I linked father myself, with a thought that just hit me. “Father, don’t let any vehicles leave unless they are fully searched.” I sent him. I didn’t wait for a response; I just got back into the search for our mate.
VINCE: Every ranked wolf, every warrior, except the Luna, was on a search team looking for Chiara. I don’t know if she realizes it or not, but not helping in the search makes her look guilty as hell. But then she never really cared about what perceptions others had, just her own appearance. And right now, she was looking guilty as sin. And the appearance of it wasn’t lost on the twins. It took all of us, our sisters, our parents, even Iesha, to keep them from ripping her apart. They felt she was behind Chiara’s disappearance. I don’t blame them. I myself think she is, too, but we can’t prove anything. We had to convince the twins to call off the search at midnight. We all promised we would pick it up in the morning.
CHIARA: It got to a point where I could no longer pretend I was still unconscious. But I did pick up that Rolan was here with me. And I would sometimes hear a second voice, but I didn’t know who it was. Great. But the question remained, where were we? (“Thena, can reach Deena?”) I asked her. (“If I knew she were close, I might.”) (“Try.”) I tell her. I can feel her trying to reach out through their bond and the link, but got nothing. (“Sorry, Chi.”) She said. (“Hey, it’s ok, we will keep trying at different times, because we never know when she might be able to hear us.”) I tell her.
ROLAN: “Well, well, well, if it isn’t the little miss human mate. But you're not human, are you?” “What makes you think I’m not?” she asked. “Well, unlike my sister, I do pay attention to some things. Like when my sister brought me down here, there was a rogue attack, and two new wolves were responsible for saving the pack, and one of them was the mate of the twins. And the fact that you are here and cuffed lets me know that you are their mate. But unlike my sister, I don’t have a problem with humans.” I say. “Why does she have a problem with humans?” she asked. Interesting that she asked that question rather than the obvious ones of, ‘Where am I?’ or ‘What am I doing here?” No, she asked why my sister has a problem with humans. It makes me laugh. “I don’t have the full story, but the short version, I guess, her father rejected his family for a human orphan. So, she’s blamed every human orphan since.” I tell her. “Can I use the bathroom?” she asked. “Sure, it’s right next to you.” “Umm, yeah, ahh, let me down?” The chains were on a winch, so I released her enough for her to use the toilet, wash her hands, then I hoisted her back into place. I noticed that the silver was burning into her skin, another clue that she was a wolf, not that I cared one way or the other. I am just biding my time until Louise can get me out and off Pack land. I will need to talk to Simon and get him to try to stay as clean as he can. I want to keep him as my source here within this pack. To grow my business, I need well-placed people inside the packs. So, I need him to stay clear of whatever is going on, on the surface. I heard the bunker door open and footsteps.
SIMON: “Rolan.” I call out softly. “Yeah.” He answers. But he’s not being quiet anymore; the girl must be awake. I get to where she is chained, and he has made himself comfortable with a camp cot set up for his bed. “Simon, I need you to be my eyes and ears here. OK?” he pulls me a bit away from the girl. “Yeah! Of course.” I tell him. “What’s the story of the girl, though?” I ask him. “She is my sister’s problem. She is the twins’ mate. I know she wants me to deal with her, but I don’t do rape. If I had enough time to find someone to just take her, I would do that, because I do want to get back at the twins, but as I said, I don’t do rape.” He tells me. “And I better not hear that you do either! Or we are done right now.” He says, pissed. Like I have done something like that. “No, I would never.” I tell him. “I know some people would dispute that about me. But I have never forced myself on a female, even if or when she was high.” He says. I nod. “So, what do we do with or about her?” I asked him. “Keep her comfortable, feed her, let her down only enough to reach and use the toilet, then put her back.
