DERRIC: I put both the bank statements and credit card reports side by side and made copies for my ranked wolves to see just what the Luna was up to, and just how badly she manipulated our children into doing her dirty work. I remember her saying more than a few different times to me, ‘kids will be kids, they’re fine, let them play.’ I should have paid more attention. I will let my ranked wolves be surprised when their kids confess to what they have done. But I do need to know if Chiara’s room is done yet. So, I linked Nathan. *“Nathan, the kids came clean and confessed to their part. Is Chiara’s room done? Have the posters been put up?” “Yes, Alpha, the posters are up, there are several, and you can see them from any angle of the room.” “Good, because once they get back to me, we are heading to her room.” “Yes, Alpha.”* I close the link. And waited.

IESHA: Mom and Dad came to get me after breakfast was over. But I still needed to see my best friend, I needed to know that she was, indeed, still alive. Even though she is in a coma. Mom and Dad came with me to Chiara’s room. I was appalled at what I saw. What the heck were all these gross, sick, sadistic posters doing in her room? I went to tear them down when the Alpha and the ranked squad walked in. “Iesha, stop.” “What is all this?” I asked him. But staying close to my parents. “They are up as part of the Twins’ and the rest of the ranked wolves' punishment.” He said. “What is their punishment?” I asked. I was scared for my friend. They will take turns standing vigil over her until she wakes, and they will spend a night in the cells for every day she is in the coma.” He stated. “I am sorry, Alpha, but I don’t trust them not to hurt her even more. Maybe even finish the job of killing her, leaving no witnesses that will talk out against them or the Luna!” I was near panicking. “Iesha, please calm down. I promise, they will not hurt her further. They have been told that if she does not wake from this coma, they will get a lashing from the silver whip for every scar that she carries on her body. That is what the posters are for, so they can count how many lashes they each will receive.” He said. “Will the Luna get punished?” “She will, she will be in the cells with the kids at night, and she will clean them during the day, until they are spotless.” “Can I still come to see her?” “Of course you can, and I assure you no harm will come to you either.” He said rather harshly, looking at the ranked squad. They just all bowed their heads. I turned my back on them and went to my friend. I picked up her hand and held it. “Don’t leave me Chi.” I whispered to her. “I have to go now, but I will be back later, I promise. And I’ll bring your favorite book to read.” I whispered to her and squeezed her hand. Then I walked over to my parents, not even looking in the direction of the ranked squad. And we left.

CAIDEN: I did not like how the omega treated us, but there was nothing we could do. We had to take everything that would come our way, even if we perceived it to be disrespectful. That was part of our punishment; we needed to learn the true meaning of disrespect, as that is what we did to the pack, according to Father. And I guess in a way he was right. We let mothers’ prejudices taint us.

JAYDEN: I wasn’t paying any attention to the omega until my wolf Steel growled in my head. \[How dare she disrespect us.\] \[Steel, stop, we have done much worse to others.\] I tell him. \[Yes, but we are Alpha.\] \[That does not give us the right to disrespect the pack, no matter what rank they are, and we have. So now we have to accept what they give us.\] I tell him. He harrumphs and retreats to the back of my mind.

DERRIC: I noticed the boys didn’t like the fact that Iesha just turned her back on them without acknowledging them, but that’s the price they have to pay for what they have done to others in this pack. This pack, which they are supposed to inherit. I hope they will learn from this. And not continue down this same path, because if they do, they won’t have a pack to run.

CHIARA: Wherever I was, I felt like I was floating. It was dark, and warm, and I felt safe. There was no pain here, no fear, no hurt, or want, just quiet, calm darkness. I felt like I could stay here forever; it was so peaceful. Then, as I was floating, the scenery changed, and I was in a field of grasses, wildflowers, and a small lake. “Mmm.” I hummed to myself. This was nice. “Yes, I know. But you cannot stay.” I heard a soft lilting voice, a light tinkling sound. “Why? Why can’t I stay?” I asked. “There is no pain here; if I leave, there will be pain. Jace is gone, and those responsible won’t be punished.” I said to the voice. “Oh, but this time they will.” The voice assures me. “Who are you?” I asked the voice. “I think you know.” The voice answered softly. “But how? Why? I am not a wolf. Why would you come to me?” I asked. I hear her tinkle of laughter. “Can I stay just for a little while at least?” I asked. “I will allow you to stay for a short time, provided you help me with the pups.” She says. “What must I do?” “Watch them, assess them, and when I call for one, send them.” “I can do that.” “Good.” And then I was left alone in the field with about 12-15 pups gathered around me. “Hello, little ones. Do you want to go play?” I asked them all in a quiet voice. I got back many yips and small barks. So, I stood and walked towards the lake with them following behind me. I tossed sticks for them to catch, and waded into the lake to swim with them. I enjoyed playing with them. They were sweet. I couldn’t understand why they could change so drastically when she gave them to their people. “We don’t.” one small pup answered my thoughts. “How?” “We hear your thoughts, the goddess lets us, when we are under someone else's care.” “What's your name, little one?” I asked her. “Thena, after the goddess Athena.” “You’re very cute. I have never seen a wolf that has the coloring you have, little one.” I tell her. “How many wolves have you seen?” “Not a whole lot. I don’t have a wolf, but I live with a bunch of them, but I don’t get to see them shift too often.”
