CHIARA: we need to go to get it for you?” He asked. “Jake’s Grill. They make their own garlic mayo. It’s the best.” I said with a yawn that I couldn’t hold back. “On it. Just rest.” Caiden said. And I couldn’t help it. I fell asleep.

CAIDEN: I linked Chad. “Hey, ask Iesha about Jake’s grill.” “Ok.” I closed the link and waited. It was only a couple of minutes, and Chad was linking me back. “Apparently, it’s one of Chi’s favorites when she can afford it. They have an olive burger on the menu that I guess is to die for.” “You have a card, right?” “Yes.” “Good take, Iesha, go there and get burgers for all of us, including dad.” “On it.” I closed the link. “I sent Chad to get burgers for all of us, so we'd better get Vince here so he can eat with us.” I told Dad and Jayden. I watched as Jayden’s eyes glazed over, so I knew he was linking Vince. He showed up a few minutes after Jayden linked him. And 10 minutes later, Chad and Iesha came in with three bags of burgers for all of us. I didn’t really want to wake Chi, but I also didn’t want her to have to eat her favorite burger cold. So, I woke her up to eat.

IESHA: I knew something was up when Chad asked me about Jake’s. Chi loved their olive burgers. So, I directed Chad on where to go. I placed mine and Chi’s orders, medium well, leaving just a hint of pink in the center, with extra mayo on the side. And let Chad go over their menu to place orders for the others. “Is Chi going to be ok?” I asked Chad. “I’m sure she will be. They didn’t say too much about her, just that she wanted an olive burger.” “Well, that’s an encouraging sign.” I said. “When she craves salt and red meat, that’s her go-to, when she has the money for it.” I said again. We waited for the orders to come up. They weren’t overly busy right now, but the lunch rush hadn’t started quite yet. So, we made it here at a good time. Because when we got our order and were heading out, the lunch rush was starting in full swing. We drove to the clinic, and I saw Chad’s eyes glaze over. I figured he was linking one of the twins to find out where to go. Yep, I was right. But I was surprised that we were headed to the private wing. “Where are we going?” I asked Chad. “The Luna suite.” Chad answered. I was stunned into silence and just followed him. Chi was sleeping when we got to the room, but Caiden woke her up when we started handing out the burgers.

JAYDEN: I hated that we needed to wake Chi up, but I was on the same page as Caiden. I didn’t want her to have cold food. It was crazy to watch the emotions go across her face when she realized that the burgers were here. The pure joy she had just from a lousy burger. It hurt my heart. But I will remember her favorite burger choices from here on out. We could list the things we knew about her preferences on one hand. Even though she was in our lives, it seemed like forever. I knew how badly my wolf and I wanted to claim her, and I’m sure Caiden was the same. We needed to figure out a way to break through her defenses and get her to realize she is our fated mate, and she doesn’t have to fear us. I know she has made some progress with our wolves, that was proven in the bunker when she coaxed Steel to shift us back. I wonder if she realized it. I also knew that we needed to find things out about her from her. And not to keep asking Iesha things. But sometimes it made things a little easier to help get through to her. Now here I was listening to her moan over a fricking burger. Although I will admit it is a damn good burger. “How do you know where to find the places you go to?” I asked her. “Simple, they are places where you’re not.” She said. Bowing her head. “Don’t, don’t do that, Chi. We know we were mean to you, we deserve everything, no matter how hard it might be for us, we deserve it, and we will take it. So, don’t you ever feel ashamed of your answers. Especially when we ask those kinds of questions, we want to learn about you, from you.” I tell her. She nods. I can tell she still feels uncomfortable, but she digs into her burger, smearing the extra garlic mayo on almost every other bite she takes. Well, I guess she likes garlic! DERRIC: I watched the interactions of the twins with Chiara. I am proud of them. Then a thought hit me. I linked my unit. *“Vance, grab everybody, yes, even your mates, and get to the Luna’s suite at the clinic.” “Yes, Alpha.”* I closed the link. 5 minutes later, Vance, Misha, Benton, Shannon, Rich, and April all showed up. I excused myself from the room and stepped out into the hallway. “We have an issue that has come up. I hope that you, Meisha, or you, Shannon, know when Louise planned the Mate ball for, because I have no clue.” I told them. “And now with her dead, Chiara isn’t in a state to be able to take on the role of Luna yet. She can help, but I think it would be too much for her to take it all on right now.” I said. “How is she doing?” Shannon asked. “She has another concussion, but other than that, I believe she is faring well.” I answered. “Has anybody come forward with any information on who it was that took her this time?” Misha asked. I shook my head in response. “Not yet. But when we do find who was responsible for actually grabbing her, the twins will not go easy on them.” I say. “What about Rolan? Has he been questioned?” Rich asked. “No, I don’t believe so. The twins were too concerned with getting Chiara to the clinic to go and interrogate him.” I said. “Can’t blame them. She is their mate, and she went missing for two days.” Benton said. “Agreed. But that still leaves us with the Mate ball and when it’s supposed to be held.” I said. And got nods all the way around. “Does any one of you have the key to get into the Luna’s office?” I asked them. They all three answered in the negative.
