Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 102
***Katherine***
Jake went to train with Jason and other warriors elsewhere, far from me.
He should be here so he can at least remind me to close my mouth so I don't drool on Kaiden's abs.
I can see them even through the t-shirt he's wearing.
Oh, my goddess! *This is torture.*
Well, a delicious torture.
This is different from two days ago when I witnessed Kaiden torturing Becca's mate.
I've never seen him like that. I tried to stay quiet as much as possible because I was afraid he would direct all that anger at me.
I was petrified to see him like that.
However, something tells me he would never do me any harm.
He literally ripped off both of Becca's mate's hands because he put them on me.
I don't know how to explain how I felt. Shame comes over me because a part of me loved his crazy possessiveness.
Knowing that I'm his and he'll do anything for me is a feeling that I like so much that I'm embarrassed to say it out loud.
This should be wrong. But what I feel for him is something I've never felt before.
If Chad had walked in a second later, I think Becca's mate would have killed me.
Chad saved my life, and I will never forget it.
I still can't believe Becca had a mate. That fact doesn't get into my head.
She always told me everything about herself. Why would she hide it from me?
Or did she only meet him shortly before she died?
Yes... that was probably it. She would have told me. Becca told me everything.
How I miss her...
Now I'm even sadder to know that she died as soon as she found her fated mate.
He loved her so much that he dared to invade one of Kaiden's packs. I know it was a small pack but still, given Kaiden's reputation, he was either very brave about it, or stupid.
That didn't make a difference in the end. He met the same fate as Becca.
Oh, what a blissful revelation, said no one ever.
My eyes run over Kaiden's body as he barks some orders to some warriors. I'm waiting for him so we can start training.
As soon as I got home from the hospital that day, I told Jake everything my parents told me.
It took him almost an hour to get everything straightened out. I understand him, I also needed time.
He didn't surprise me when he said that regardless of whether I have a wolf or not, he will always take care of me.
Jake is more than a best friend, he is a brother. I feel like I know him from past lives.
I love Dustin, but the connection I have with Jake is out of this world.
I also told him about what Becca's mate said about the Royal prophecy involving a red wolf.
Everything is now more confusing than ever.
What prophecy is this?
No one knows a red wolf, so it leads me to think he might be talking about me.
I would give anything to know the content of this prophecy.
Only Becca knew about my wolf besides my parents, and she didn't tell anyone. She kept her word, she protected me.
There's no way I can doubt her, even though she stole the prophecy from someone else, she didn't reveal my secret.
My heart stopped when Becca's mate said 'red wolf'. If Kaiden knew about my red wolf... I don't even know what his reaction would be.
Good thing he doesn't know.
"You're here to train, not to ogle me," Kaiden says with a naughty smile in front of me, taking me out of my thoughts and focusing on his eyes.
I roll my eyes, and he starts barking several crazy sequences and reps for me to execute.
I miss the time when he was barking at other people, not at me. Ugh.
I do what he says, or at least try, for an hour or so.
My body is sweaty, and my arms are tired after all the repetition he made me do.
He did much more than me, and it doesn't even look like he trained at all.
Damn wolf's genes.
"Okay, now let's run a little to increase your fitness," Kaiden says as I try to steady my breathing. "Don't run in the same place other people are running. Run in that direction," he points to the right of the park, "run until you find the lake," he adds.
The lake is a little far from where we are, I'm sure it will take me a while to get there because I'm exhausted.
"Let's race then," I say breathlessly as I manage a defiant smile on my face. "But, I'll go ahead. It's not fair that we start at the same time!" I say, and he smiles a huge, beautiful smile.
"I love a challenge. Go ahead," he tells me as he waves a hand in front of me, urging me to go.
I'm going to wipe that confident smirk off his face, even if I lose my lungs in this park!
I don't respond, I run with all my strength in the direction he told me to go, with a hopeful smile even though my breathing is still laboured.
Clearly, I was wrong about my ability to win. I'm dying of exhaustion, my body asks me to give up, but I keep running.
I can't see Kaiden behind me, either he hasn't caught up with me yet because he hasn't started running yet, or I'm going faster than I thought because I'm almost at the lake.
However, after turning a bend in the trail, I look back and immediately recognize who is behind me.
My big black wolf. Troy!
He comes running towards me in a way that seems like he is running to catch me and not to get to the lake.
The feeling of having him running after me is electrifying.
Please, legs, keep running!
When I start to see the lake, I look back again, and Troy quickly picks up the pace and catches up to me.
He passes by and caresses my legs with his tail, and he overtakes me towards the lake with two barks of celebration.
Bastard!
He reaches the lake and turns towards me, sitting on his back legs. He looks like a king, he is so big and so majestic.
He looks like a reference point for the end of my run.
My breathing is so difficult that I almost believe I lost my lungs in the park, but then I finally get to where he is.
"You cheated!" I accuse him with my index finger in his direction as I try to breathe; my breathing is more laboured than ever.
He barks at me twice again and turns his head to the side. Ugh!
He's so cute, I can't even stay mad at him.
He comes to me, I can tell he doesn't want any space between us.
Troy's warm breath tickles my skin as he rubs his head against my thigh and stares up at me with strangely deadly yet loving eyes.
It's an endearing combination of intensity and affection.
Without a sound, it's clear that he's begging silently for pets, and I don't hesitate to shower him with my love.
I giggle and bend down to offer him the affection he seeks. I reach down to scratch behind his ear, savouring the feeling of his soft fur under my fingertips, "who is Katie's good mate?" I coo, a sparkle of warmth in my eyes, "You are, you certainly are!" His tail wags furiously, and he lets out a contented sigh, revelling in the attention.
He's almost lying on the ground because even if he were sitting, he would be taller than me.
His tail sways from side to side as I stroke his fur.
We stayed in this position for a few more minutes, me giving him affection and talking to him while I tried to rest a little before running back to where we were.
When I feel like I can run again, I tell him, "okay, this time we're going to run together, okay?" I ask, and he nods.
"When I say three!" I say and give a mischievous smile. "Three!"
I start running with all my strength, which, by the way, isn't much, in the direction we came from; I can't control the huge smile on my face when I hear a growl from him behind me as if saying that this time I am the one who is cheating.
