Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 231: Book 2 - Chapter 64
I am pretty sure part of the reason I slept so well is because of this incredibly comfortable bed and my mate hugging me from behind. Still, the other part of this restful sleep is that I wasn’t stressed about the need to worry about invasions and sudden attacks.
No hard work, no having to worry about creating new houses for everyone to settle in, or any of the things I’ve been constantly stressed about.
If the urge to use the bathroom weren’t so strong, I would have stayed in bed longer. I push myself to get up, and when I finish in the bathroom, I couldn’t sleep anymore.
I grab a glass of water on top of the nightstand and drink while staring at the wall, lost in my thoughts. There’s a clock on the wall, I see that it’s two in the morning.
Fuck! I can’t sleep anymore!
Nox continues to sleep peacefully in bed. So I put on Nox’s dark blue silk robe again, which is mine now, and I left Nox’s bedroom to wander around the packhouse. I hear a noise in the living room, so I go straight to there. Maybe Tristan is awake, too.
When I enter the living room, there is a girl sitting on the sofa, and she stands up abruptly when she sees me.
Her straight red hair cascaded down to her waist. As I approach her, the first thing I notice is our height difference.
She is tiny compared to me. She looks at me with her pink mouth partially open. I notice that although her grayish-green eyes are not dark blue like Nox’s, she has the same doe-like eye shape as him.
And then suddenly I get angry and cross my arms.
Did Nox lie to me *again*? He didn’t tell me he had a sister.
“Who are you?” I ask, lifting the tip of my chin.
The pretty red-haired girl takes a step back in confusion as if I’m going to attack her at any moment.
Fuck! I didn’t want to scare her.
“Uhmm...” she bites her bottom lip. Maybe she doesn’t want to talk to me.
But behind me, Nox shouts excitedly, “Mom!”
He comes running towards her and hugs her. I move a little away from them as he spins her in the air, her legs swaying.
“My little chatterbox!” she says, hugging him back. When he stops spinning, she has tears in her eyes.
“She can’t be your mother,” I say in disbelief. “This little girl looks younger than me!”
“Oh, my sweet baby, I missed you so much! You scared me to death! I thought I would never see you again!” She hugs him again. He’s so much taller than her that she seems to get lost in his arms.
“Princess, this is my mother, Luna Queen Katherine,” Nox says, pointing at her, but neither of them lets go; they continue hugging each other sideways.
I can’t believe this little girl is Nox’s mother. Seriously, she looks my age. Well, I can understand a little why she looks so young — she hasn’t faced as many battles in life as I have.
She wipes away her tears just as a hot man walks into the living room, looking like an older version of Nox. But he doesn’t seem to have Nox’s majestic mannerisms, which I love so much. He seems to be a brute. “Nox!” He shouts towards him and hugs him tight.
“Dad!” Nox hugs him back. Wow, Nox’s father is hot for his age.
After releasing the hug, he holds Nox’s shoulders firmly and looks at him, “Where have you been all this time, son?”
“I—”
“You’re forbidden from leaving my sight! Fuck, Nox! You worry so fucking much about you!” He interrupts Nox, yelling at him. Then he turns to Nox’s mother and frowns, “Who made you cry, my little sun?” he yells at her.
She smiles, still drying her tears, and then touches his forearm gently with her delicate hand. “They’re happy tears, I swear!”
“I don’t like any kind of tears on your face. Stop crying!” She giggles. Wow... My father-in-law is intense.
Suddenly, Tristan and Emma enter through the door leading to the kitchen. They are in nightwear, and Tristan carries a tray with him. As he approaches, he places the tray on the coffee table.
“Tristan!” I say and go straight to hug him again. I can’t hold myself back. “It’s past two in the morning! You should be in bed! You too, Emma!” I speak firmly to them, and they giggle.
Nox’s parents look at me, confused, as Chad and Sandy walk down the stairs hand in hand. They are both dressed in nightwear, and Sandy is clearly wearing one of his clothes because it is loose on her.
As soon as they get close to the sofa, Sandy sits down, and Chad goes to Nox’s mother and hugs her, “Hi beautiful, I have something to tell you,” he says with a huge smile.
“Don’t you think I felt your happiness a few hours ago?” Nox’s mother says with a mischievous smile and kisses Chad’s cheek.
“Aren’t you supposed to arrive in the morning?” Chad asks Nox’s father.
“As soon as we heard that Nox appeared, we came as quickly as possible. I had to see my little chatterbox!” Nox’s mother responds, flashing a smile in his direction. “Dustin and Char will arrive in the morning, though.”
Nox’s father sits in one of the armchairs that can fit two people and pulls Nox’s mother to sit on his lap. Then, Emma and Tristan sit together on a loveseat, and Chad returns to Sandy’s side. So, they sit in a U shape, with Nox and I facing them. This arrangement is good because we’re about to do a show. The spring-themed living room still has plenty of vacant spots, even with all eight of us sitting comfortably.
“I think you have a lot to tell us,” Nox’s mother tells him with a raised eyebrow. Again, I don’t believe she is his mother; look at her! “Nox, you were missing for over a year,” she continues, this time with a firmer tone, and from the reaction of everyone here, she doesn’t use that tone often. “We used the powers of almost every Luna of the Assembly to find you! Luna Charleena has tried to locate you with various personal items of yours throughout the last eleven full moons, but she couldn’t find you. She said that if you had died, she would know, though she couldn’t get any answers about you through her power!” her eyes turn sad when she talks about the possibility of him being dead. “You know how much Luna Chika cares about you. She used her claws to threaten to leave permanent marks on everyone who had the slightest reason to threaten you! Sisters Luna Krystal and Karalee were present at every interrogation of people who saw you last to ensure they were telling the truth.”
I cross my arms and look at Nox. “Who are these Lunas?” I ask with my eyes narrowed.
He gives me a playful smile, showing off his dimples. “Are you jealous?”
I raise my eyebrows, but before I tell him to go to hell, his mother responds kindly, “They are part of the Luna Assembly. They all have a special gift!”
“Nox! Start talking! Where have you been?” Nox’s father asks impatiently.
“Okay, I’ll try to summarize as much as I can. First, Alexa, you’ve already met my mother, Luna Queen Katie,” he points at her, and she gives me a calm smile. “That impatient one is my father, Alpha King Kaiden, but you can call him Kaiden, right, Dad?”
Alpha King Kaiden gives a short nod with a cold demeanor. However, Nox continues, “Mom and Dad, the one sitting next to Uncle Chad is Sandy. She is Alexa’s Protector and Uncle Chad’s fated mate.”
His parents gasp at the same time. “Oh, my Goddess! Congratulations! I knew you had found your second chance!” his mother says excitedly, getting off Kaiden’s lap and hugging Chad and Sandy. “I’m so happy for you!”
When she lets them both go, Kaiden immediately pulls her back to sit on his lap.
“So,” Nox stands, and I remain in the armchair. Everyone looks at him, “Before Mom’s birthday last year, I met the Moon Goddess near the sacred trees.”
Everyone gasps in disbelief. I bet this will likely be their only reaction.
“You talked to her?” Emma asks.
“The prophecy has been fulfilled!” Kaiden says firmly, nodding.
“What’s she like?” Katie asks anxiously.
“Calm down!” Nox laughs, “I spoke to her. Yes, the prophecy came true,” he turns to me and winks. Fuck, he’s so beautiful. He turns to his mother, “She looks as magnificent as we imagined!”
“Wow!” Sandy says, and Chad kisses her hand.
“She doesn’t like to talk much,” Nox admits.
“Oh Goddess, did you let her talk, baby?” his mother asks jokingly.
“Mom!” he responds, and I laugh at their interaction. “She told me that my purpose was something beyond our realm and that if I failed, basically everything would be lost.” They all look at Nox, confused. “And then, she transported me to decades ago. When this pack didn’t exist yet. That’s when Alexa found me.” Nox looks at me with admiration.
“He lost all his memories,” I continue to help him. I get up and stand next to him. “Khai fell was dormant, and Nox couldn’t even speak,” everyone gasp loudly at the last part. I control the urge to laugh because, after everything I said, that was what they were most shocked about.
“When she found me, I was almost dying of hypothermia because, unlike the hot spring I left here, it was a harsh winter there,” Nox continues. I know they’re dying to ask many questions, but they seem to hold back, waiting for us to tell them everything first.
However, Kaiden interrupts, “Wait, so the Moon Goddess just left you on your own?”
“Yes,” Nox replies, wincing at his tone.
Kaiden mutters his displeasure, “Sorry, Son, you can go on. Shit. Lost it for a minute.”
I hold Nox’s hand tightly, and he continues. I sense how difficult remembering that moment of memory loss was for him.
“I went back to a time when Alexa’s pack had been invaded by the Bloodmoon pack, they were hunting the red wolf. Her pack had to live in a cave until she found a new territory.”
“No!” Sandy says with her hands covering her mouth.
“Nonetheless, when I found Nox here, I decided that we should live here because it was a perfect location,” I say firmly, looking at Tristan. “I could feel that it was a signal sent by the Moon Goddess. On one of the trips, we were attacked, and Nox shifted. When that happened, I discovered that we were fated mates,” I say, looking at Nox with a small smile.
“So that means,” Katie says, looking at us and Tristan.
“Yes, we are Tristan’s parents,” I reply firmly.
Tristan smiles playfully. I think he is accepting this better than he was earlier. “Okay, so let me get this straight. Is my grandpup actually my father?”
“What?” Emma, Chad, and Katie say.
“I know it’s confusing, and the more we think about it, the more our minds go crazy. But in short, Nox didn’t know who I was until then. But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re your parents, Tristan,” I say harshly.
“She’s bossy,” Tristan mutters, and I crack a smile at him.
“Nox helped me build this pack before and after he recovered his memories. Letum, Dana, and the two of us prepared everything to bring everyone from the central cave to live here.”
“Well, I knew much of this story but not that detailed. My grandparents didn’t go into that much detail,” Tristan replies.
“Wait. And how did you guys get money if you were living in a cave?” Sandy asks, confused.
I look at Nox, who has a bright smile. “Well, I knew a certain diamond mine,” Nox replies, looking at his parents.
“Did you steal the diamonds from my Diamond Claw pack?” Kaiden asks firmly but dumbfounded.
Nox starts laughing, “Yes. Well, those diamonds were up for grabs!”
“Nox took a lot of diamonds, and it was because of them that we were able to buy everything we needed to build the pack and also leave some in reserve,” I defend my mate.
“Wait,” Chad says, looking at Katie. “Does this mean that the reason Katie got the rich rating when we made the contract was because there were diamonds from the Diamond Claw pack here? I didn’t see that coming!”
I’m confused about what he’s saying, but Kaiden looks at Katie like she’s hanging the fucking moon before saying, “*You were fated to be mine, my little sun!*”
After a moment when Nox and I don’t continue, Tristan asks with a bit of resentment in his voice, “Why did you disappear?”
I let go of Nox’s hand and go to him and hold his hand. “For you, it was a lifetime without me, Tristan, and I’m so sorry about it. But for me, I gave birth to you almost yesterday!” I say. “In our pack, there was a member called Nigel. He killed half the members, in addition to causing Sandy’s death.” Sandy and Chad gasp; everyone seems confused, and rightly so, because Sandy is here alive. “He was going to kill Nox, Tristan. I had to stop him! In the end, Nox ended up killing Nigel with the same axe Nigel was going to kill him and the sacred tree, where Nox traveled through.”
“Is that true, son?” Kaiden asks, and Nox nods.
“Before I went to Nox, I could feel that maybe this was my end. The invasions that were hunting for me couldn’t continue the way they were. So I asked my father to tell everyone that I was human so no one would know that there had been a red wolf in our pack. Then I left you the necklace that Nox gave me, and I went to help him.”
“So this necklace is yours?” Nox’s mother lowers the collar of her turtleneck blouse, and I see the necklace that Nox gave me around her neck.
A smile appears on my lips. The necklace looks a little aged but is still shiny. “I gave your necklace to my daughter when we told her the truth about her.”
“The truth about her? What do you mean?” I ask, confused.
And then they explain to me a story that is fucking more absurd than the one we just have told them.
I sit in the armchair, not believing what Tristan and Katie had just told me.
“Did you think you were human like I asked my father to tell everyone?” She nods. Fuck! “So you mean you didn’t have your wolf with you and went through all that?” I ask in disbelief. “Hell! I would have freaked out if I were you, my grandpuppy!”
She opens her mouth in an ‘O’ shape, “Don’t call me that! I’m older than you!” she responds indignantly, but everyone laughs around us. She is adorable.
“But you’re too short. You barely reach my belly button.” This time, even Kaiden laughs.
She crosses her arms dramatically. She is adorable. Now I understand where Nox got his sweetness from.
Or rather, where did she get her sweetness from? You know what? Nevermind!
“I wish my parents were here,” I say, looking down at the floor.
This time, Tristan holds my hand. “They died from an invasion in the pack before Katie was born. Because the invasions increased, we decided to place the protective barrier in the pack with Katie’s power. That’s how we managed to have peace again. Our little one saved us all,” he says with a proud look at Katie.
Now I understand why Kyrie said that Letum and her son died before Katie’s protective barrier.
“How did you bring me back to life? All I remember is the darkness and then waking up here on this sofa,” Sandy asks me. Chad is still in agony after I mentioned that she was dead.
Frankly, I don’t know how this happened, and I’m glad Nox responded to her. “The Goddess Selena, well, or Sel for her close ones,” he says with a cocky smirk. “She promised me great powers if I managed to fulfill my purpose, just as the prophecy states. However,” he looks at me with adorable dark blue eyes, “I told her I’d rather be by my fated mate’s side than have anything else. Apparently, she rewarded me with more than I asked for,” he says, glancing at Sandy.
I abruptly leave Tristan’s side and go to him, “You idiot! You could have earned unbelievable powers! You could have asked her for anything you wanted—”
He shuts my mouth by kissing me. And then his big arms embrace me. “I don’t regret it! You were and are everything I want, Princess.”
“You can bet your ass I would have chosen the fucking powers,” I say with a grin from ear to ear before kissing him back.
