Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 24
***Katherine***
I almost jumped out of my chair in a scare when he said to put my clause in the contract. When he accused me of dating Chad and asked him not to date anyone, I almost choked. I don't want him to assume publicly that he's with me and show up with another girl, I don't think I could handle it.
To tell the truth, I don't think I could bear to see him with another girl, regardless of the situation.
Pull yourself together, Katie, pull yourself together.
"Kaiden, do you have anything to add as well?" Jason asked, and Kaiden smirked, I almost smiled back, but I looked away.
"And if you win the tournament? What does Katie get?" Jake interrupted. I kicked his leg hard and turned furiously on him.
"Shut up," I said through gritted teeth.
"Of course, I knew she would want compensation," Kaiden said in a mocking tone, I almost wanted to dig a hole and crawl inside.
"I don't want anything in return, I hope this all ends quickly, and we follow the clauses," I stated to him, looking into his eyes this time, I hoped he didn't think I'm a gold digger after what Jake said.
Kaiden looked at me less angrily this time but then looked away. He looks so upset he can't even look at me.
"I want to put in the contract that you have to participate in any test of the tournament, that your presence is necessary, and that you strive to be able to fulfill the tests," Kaiden said, I found the request reasonable.
"Okay, you can add that," I said, looking at Chad.
"I also want to add one more clause. I want an open clause, which I will still decide if necessary during the tournament." Kaiden added. I was startled, I looked at Jake and then at Chad, but I nodded in agreement after I didn't see any reason not to agree.
"After this tournament is over, you will still be able to enjoy my status in return," Kaiden said with a superior look, I nearly threw up. Who does he think I am? Does he think I need this? For what? Status? Could this guy be any worse?
"How generous of you. But no. Thanks." was all I said, looking at him with a look of disdain.
When I first saw him from afar, I didn't think he was so arrogant up close. That day, we didn't talk much, but now, after talking a little with him, I see how much his reputation precedes him. Arrogant and mad. Because to propose a contract like that, he can only be very arrogant and petty. Sort people by points? It still hasn't dawned on me, even though I understand the logical reasons behind it.
I just want this meeting to end soon, and I sign this stupid contract. I want to spend as little time as possible with him.
"Okay, if that's it, let's just sign," I said and picked up one of the pens that were lying next to me.
"I'll add the new clauses and print a new contract, just a moment," Chad said and got up.
"What are you guys going to do after here?" Jason asked, looking at Jake.
"I'm going home, I need to solve some things, but Jake is free," I said, giggling. Jake's eyes widened in fright, and then he looked at me with a pissed-off face when he realized what I said.
"You are hungry?" he asked, worried about Jake. I thought it was really cute. "Want to eat something after here, then?" he added.
Jake was going to open his mouth to deny it, and I ran to answer for him.
"Yes, he's hungry because he's back from training now," I said, looking at Jake, he won't be able to make up an excuse for that now.
"There's a great place I want to take you," Jason said excitedly, and I saw that Jake, despite being serious, didn't hesitate to deny the invitation. I giggled softly.
Kaiden was silent this whole time, ignoring our conversation and being trapped in his thoughts; he looked like he didn't want to be there.
"All ready, now just sign." Chad entered the room again with the contract in his hands.
He handed it to me, I took one of the pens that were on the table and signed my name, it came out a little shaky because I was still nervous about it. Will it be the best decision to make? What if I regret it later? What if this all ends badly? I tried to ignore those thoughts as I passed the contract to Kaiden, he signed it and handed it back to Chad, and then he put it in a folder.
"Give it to me, I'll put it in the safe," Kaiden said and took the contract. "So that's it, bye," was all he said and walked out the door. I kept looking where he went, there wasn't even time to say anything or see him one last time.
"Let's go?" Jason said, looking at Jake, and the 4 of us went to the packhouse exit, the whole way Jason was asking Chad questions, and he just answered by nodding or shaking his head. Chad noticed I was reflective and respected my silence. When we got outside, Jason went to the inner parking lot, and after a few moments, he came back on a super cool black motorcycle, looking like a robot technologically, I don't understand much about motorcycles, but I can see that it's a kind of collector's motorcycles, to tell the truth, this bike defines Jason's tastes a lot. He stopped and handed Jake a helmet.
"I'm not going there with you. We're going in my car," Jake denied.
"But I have to go home with your car, Jake," I said with a pout, of course, Chad could take me, but I didn't want to give him that option, and by Chad's face, he also wanted to see the two of them together. Jason looked at me and winked, silently thanking me, Jake yanked the helmet from Jason's hand and put it on.
"Okay," he said and got on the bike.
"Hold Jason tight so you don't fall, Jake," I said, and Jason and Chad burst out laughing, even Jake couldn't help it and smiled shyly too.
Jason started the bike's engine, it made a noise, and then he honked and got off. I couldn't stop laughing because of Jake's face, I know he was going to kill me tomorrow at training, but I couldn't control myself.
