I didn't reveal to Chad that I couldn't kill him until I had my mate in my arms.

He didn't need to know that.

I took the opportunity to delight in his body's tremor of terror as he searched vastly for my mate.

"I can't fucking stand this, Jason," I snap, pacing up and down the corridor. "We need to be out there doing something, not sitting around waiting."

It's just the two of us here in the corridor. Jacob is with Chad, helping him.

"Doing what, Kaiden? You've already threatened Chad, you've already beaten him until he understands the gravity of the situation, and everyone is already in position, just waiting for a command to follow. Our best lead is in that fucking room. Chad is already doing the best he can to find her," he nods in the direction of the ETC room. "This is where we need to be. But if it makes you feel better to be out there busting some heads open, you go do that," I glare at him, hating him for being right.

"You think I'm not worried about her? I can't forgive myself for not protecting Katie!" Jason utters a little louder, his voice thick with resentment. "I promised to protect her with my own life, and here I am, with my hands tied and unable to do anything."

"You had no way of knowing–"

"It doesn't matter, Kaiden," he shakes his head, "I made a promise to her. It was supposed to be my duty to protect her..."

Jacob opens the door to the ECT room and looks at his mate. He sees how shaken he is, and then he narrows his eyes at me, "Are you okay, Jay?"

"Any news?" Jason asks instead of answering.

Jacob walks towards the two of us, "Nothing yet."

'Alpha, Alpha Benjamin and his warriors have arrived. Max is taking him to ETC,' Dean mindlinks me.

"Alpha Benjamin has arrived," I inform the two.

"I think the first place we should look is where Chad made contact with them," Jacob suggests.

"Obviously, they won't be there anymore. They wouldn't be that stupid. Besides, rogues don't stay in one place that long," Jason counters him.

"I'll send a team to check it out. Better be sure," I decide.

'Isabel, gather a team of warriors to go out of the pack on a mission right now, I'll let you know where they'll go,' I mindlink my new Gamma as I head towards Chad.

'Yes, Alpha,' she replies.

I kick the chair he's sitting in, and he flinches, "Where the fuck was the place you planned the attack with the rogues?" I ask him, my voice firm, leaving no room for him to hesitate.

"I wrote down all the information here," he opens a drawer and passes me a notepad.

My eyes run through the information, the place is far from here, it's at least 5 hours by car, without stopping.

Fuck! I expend my anger on another punch to his face. "You had to get involved with rogues so fucking far from here?"

He doesn't answer. He knows better than to answer me now. He doesn't even dare to look me in the eye, he remains with his gaze on the floor.

I immediately mindlink Isabel with the information about the location, 'Tell them to go there right now, it's not to attack, it's to inform me if the rogues are still there. Do you understand me? It's not for attacking!'

'Alpha, wouldn't it be better if I go with them?' she asks.

'No! Jason and I will need to leave the pack, and you will be in command until I return,' I inform her; with this new position, the responsibility on her shoulders becomes much greater, but I know she can handle it; she is a great warrior.

'Yes, Alpha, I'll inform them right now. I'll let you know as soon as they have any news.'

I don't bother to answer her because, along with Jacob and Jason, Alpha Benjamin enters the room, accompanied by a girl who appears to be the female version of him.

Before I say anything, the girl's eyes widen out of nowhere at the same time that Chad raises his head abruptly. They both look at each other as if they were in a trance, her mouth opens a little, looking like she's holding her breath.

I've seen it happen, I know exactly what the next words will be.

Chad gets up from the chair, but it's her who says as she lets out her breath, "Mate!"

All eyes in the room look at the two of them back and forth.

Fuck! This girl could have appeared earlier. It would have saved a lot of headaches.

She walks a little towards Chad with a smile on her face, more than happy as if she had found the other half of her. Well, she found.

She stops on the way when she realizes that Chad didn't walk towards her as excited as she was.

No, no, no. You better be happy with your fated mate, motherfucker!

With both of them silent, Alpha Benjamin clears his throat before saying, coming towards me, "Alpha Kaiden, my warriors are outside, just waiting for my commands where they should go. Jacob has already informed me of everything you know so far. Well, he didn't say almost anything, but he said you're looking for her," he turns to Chad's fated mate. "This is my little sister, Maia," he shakes her shoulder when he sees that she's still staring at Chad and not paying attention to what he's saying.

She looks at him with her eyebrows together, "What?" she snaps.

"I was saying you're my little sister," Alpha Benjamin tells her.

She looks at me and says, "Oh, yes, my name is Maia. Katie has been my friend since we were kids. When I heard what happened, I had to come!"

"Hmm... Ok," I don't really know what to say.

"I wish she had been my brother's chosen mate, but–"

"Maia!" Alpha Benjamin scolds her with a look.

"I know you found Isla," she looks at me like I care about his personal life, "his fated mate," she looks back at her older brother in defiance, "but don't deny it! You wanted Katie to agree to be your chosen mate," she smiles at him, and he puts his hand on his forehead as the motherfucker blushes.

"Fuck if I allow it," I glare at him.

Maia goes towards Chad, and when she is in front of him, she says in an excited voice, "Hi! I'm Maia. What's your name, my fated mate?"

He stares at her smile, bites the inside of his cheek and closes his eyes before saying just one word, "Chad."

I take a deep breath, so I don't freak out. I don't have the patience to deal with other people's drama right now.

It's enough that I have to deal with a fucker who wanted to kidnap my mate for him. Now I have to deal with another fucker who wanted to have my mate as his chosen mate too.

"Chad, what did you find," I interrupt their interaction... or lack thereof.

"I found two possible locations they could be, but I'm not sure if–"

"I don't give two shits. Where?" I ask firmly, doing my best to stay calm and not tear him in two.

"The first location is 8 hours away. Katie was taken almost 4 hours ago, so if they're going there, they'll be there in 4 hours," Chad says, pointing to a map on the laptop.

"If we're quick, we can attack them without them preparing themselves first," Jason suggests.

"What about the other location?" Alpha Benjamin asks. I automatically suppress the growl of jealousy in my chest because of his eagerness to find my mate.

"The other location is a little further away and in the opposite direction; it takes a day to get there..." Chad responds by placing both hands on his face after pointing out where the location is on the map.

"Fuck!" I scream as I grab a chair next to me and throw it at the wall. The noise makes everyone wince, "I would kill you if I could right now!" I scream in Chad's direction, and Jason grabs my arm so I don't kill him.

'Kaiden,' Jason mindlinks me, and I glare at him.

"What?" I shout impatiently at him instead of answering via mindlink.

But he only responds to me via mindlink, 'Tonight is a full moon.'
