Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 221: Book 2 - Chapter 54

He can’t die! He can’t die!

I keep desperately trying to heal Nox, aggressively running my hands over his body.

But, instead of healing, I start to open the wounds even more.

Fuck! I close my eyes to concentrate.

My body hurts so much! And the chilly fall breeze is making me feel cold and shivery.

I can’t shift because there’s a lot of poison in my body, and on top of that, it’s affecting my gift; I can’t use it properly!

I’m so fucking weak! I hug Nox tight, and my tears start to mix with the blood on his soft, pale skin.

*Why did you fight beyond your limit, Prince? Why?*

I feel him healing, but slowly. I suspect our mate bond has something to do with it because if I tried to use my power with anyone else, as weak as I am right now, I wouldn’t be able to.

Seconds feel more like hours as I press my hands against his chest. I feel his wounds healing. I feel his unbearable pain, even though he, even in this state, tries to fucking hide it from me.

Suddenly, he lays his hand over mine, and I feel the slightest sign that he is alive.

“Nox!” I cry out.

His breathing is uneven, and his eyes are still closed.

My skin tingles when his palm, big and soft, engulfs it in warmth.

Tears stream from my eyes in an unending torrent, more than I ever thought possible.

Thank Goddess Selena! Thank you so much!

Just like me, the trees, the small nocturnal animals, and the air around us seem to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that he is alive. It’s surreal! I must be imagining this, right?

But no. For a moment, the frigid wind dies down around us, and the tree branches sway in unison, creating a gap in their canopy that lets the moonlight pour in, allowing me to see him more clearly than ever.

I keep trying hard to heal him, even if it’s fucking slow.

I wipe my tears with the back of my hand, spreading more blood than wiping the tears off my cheek, but I don’t fucking care.

I look at Nox. He has his eyes closed, still unconscious. Even after everything that has happened, he seems so pure, so divine...

His breathing seems to become evener, and suddenly, he opens his beautiful dark blue eyes, looking confused for a moment. However, as soon as his eyes hover under mine, he forces himself into a small, sweet smile.

I’m still fucking upset with him. Just because all this happened doesn’t mean I want him back.

But fuck me! I’m very relieved that he’s alive. He literally almost gave his life to protect me and our precious baby.

His hand, which is cupping mine, gives a slight squeeze. “I nearly lost you,” Nox says. His voice sounds so sad it hurts me.

I keep healing him because he is far from being well enough to walk. “I’m here,” I say after a moment.

“I didn’t keep you safe,” he mutters.

“It was beyond your control.” Fuck! The pain in his eyes as he studies my weak body makes my heart break all over again.

“It can’t ever happen again, Princess. I can’t take it.”

“I know, Nox. I know. It won’t. I promise.” All Tyra wants right now is to comfort him.

‘*For once*, human! We need to comfort him for once! He was always there for us, always taking care of us and making sure we were safe, fed, and happy,’ Tyra firmly orders me. Her fierce voice leaves no room for argument.

I lean over and settle my head on his chest again.

We remain in silence for a long time, waiting for my power to heal him.

When I move away, Nox reaches for my hand again, groaning as pain floods his face, and I cry a little from the pain in my body. “Goddess! Easy, Princess.”

After a while his eyes look around us, he turns his face a little to look at the statue of the Moon Goddess and opens a small smile.

“You know... That statue always had a broken arm, and no one ever knew why,” *he must be talking about the future*. “I can’t believe that after all this time, I was the one to break the statue’s arm.” When he finishes speaking, he locks his eyes on mine.

“So does that mean Letum doesn’t do another one?” I ask. I just want to keep hearing his voice.

“Nah. The statue stays like that,” he says, but the small smile that was on his face disappears.

His pain is so intense... Fuck! I wish I could use my power properly to make everything go faster.

His hand starts to caress my pregnant belly, and even though I feel my body becoming more relaxed, I look at him with cold eyes.

He immediately stops the affection and takes his hand away. He also looks away from my eyes. For a moment, I could have sworn his eyes were full of tears.

I don’t want him touching me because I’ll end up giving in to him. After all, my traitorous body doesn’t understand that he betrayed us, lied to us, fooled us.

“So, is it true?” I ask just to keep him talking. He seems to suffer more when he’s silent, or maybe because I’m too much of a coward because I can’t stand his silence.

And then it hits me.

Nox is not just my fated mate. I’m falling in love with him.

Fuck! *I’m in love with a Prince!*

Tragically, completely.

I’m falling in love with a Traveler from the future who lied to me, and in some crazy way, even though we’re from different times — and realities — we were fated to be mates.

Fuck. My. Life.

This sudden realization is shattering what little sanity I have right now.

“Are you really a prince?” I ask, raising an eyebrow.

He smiles genuinely this time. “Yes.”

He only answers that, and when he doesn’t say anything anymore, I scoff, teasing him.

He gives a dramatic sigh. “I do look damn good in a tux and a crown!”

*I bet he does*! But I don’t say it, of course.

When I thought he wouldn’t say anything, he continued, but without his charming smile. “I haven’t lied to you from the beginning, Alexa,” I almost wince when he calls me by my name, even though I demand he call me that.

Nox looks away as he speaks sincerely. “When I got here, I lost all my memories, my wolf, everything that I know. Everything. I couldn’t even think straight, let alone talk,” he closes his eyes as if the memory is haunting him. “But I remember everything that happened. I remember how you found me in the cold, almost dying, and took care of me.” His deep blue eyes are almost black due to the darkness around us. “When we were attacked and I saw you almost dying, something in me was unleashed, and I didn’t understand until I shifted. I needed to save you. I couldn’t let you die!”

“When did your memories come back?” I ask as I place my hand on his right leg, where there is a deep cut.

“My memories came back right after you marked me. Until then, I didn’t remember anything. I didn’t even know if I could shift again. But you marked me, and my memories came back like chaos in my mind, just like Khai. It was great to meet him again.”

I can imagine it was because if I were separated from Tyra for even a second, I think I would go crazy. Tyra is not a tiny part of me. Tyra is part of me! Without her, I am not complete.

‘Just as without our fated mate, we are not complete,’ Tyra reminds me. I ignore her because I don’t have enough strength to roll my eyes.

Nox lets out a groan of pain, clenching his fists. I concentrate on healing him. Fuck, there are places on his body where he is still bleeding.

“Fuck! You’re still bleeding,” I curse and focus on closing those wounds.

“I am? Huh, I wonder how that happened,” Nox says with a gleam of mischief in his doe eyes. “You know, my cock hurts too.”

“What?” I ask, and abruptly, I move my gaze to his huge cock, even though it is not hard.

Nox grin at me. “Princess, my eyes are up here.”

“Nox! Now is not the fucking time for joking around!” Despite my harsh tone, he chuckles, probably because of my flushed face.

“It seemed like the perfect time to me.” Nox stops his chuckles, and he holds my hand again. I had to let go of his hand earlier so I could use both my hands to heal him faster. “You’re worried, and I don’t like it.”

Fucking hell!

*Don’t cry. Don’t cry. Don’t cry!*

I look away, but I don’t move my hand away from his.

I breathe a sigh of relief! I feel the poison finally disappearing from his body; some of his wounds are still open, though.

Nox tries to sit up, “What are you doing? I’m not finished yet!” I bark. With some difficulty, he not only sits up but gets up then. “Nox!”

“Alexa, you’ve already tried too much. Now let me take care of you.” Nox looks around us, but his gaze doesn’t linger on the several bodies massacred on the ground. Then he turns to me, and without even asking me, he puts a strong arm on the back of my knees and the other on my back before lifting me up, pressing me against an even stronger chest.

“What are you doing? I don’t want you to touch me!” I yell at him. “Besides, you’re still bleeding! Put me down, Nox!” I wriggle in his arms, but it only makes my pain increase. I whimper.

“I’ll get better soon. You’ve done more than enough, so don’t worry about me.” Nox speaks gently, looks down at me, and then starts walking. “I need to give you a bath, get this disgusting smell off of you,” he says, walking slowly.

I don’t know if he’s walking slowly because I’m too heavy or because he’s hurt, maybe both.

‘Khai said it’s because they need to feel you close to them,’ Tyra tells me. ‘And you know we want the same, so don’t fucking try to deny it because I don’t have the patience for it right now!’

*The nerve of this fucking wolf!*

‘Don’t forget what he did!’ I yell at Tyra.

“This doesn’t change anything after everything you’ve done!” I reassure Nox.

He stays silent as he walks with me in his arms. The trees around us become quieter as if they are judging me.

“You lied to me, Nox! You could have prevented Dana’s death! You knew everything that was going to happen, and you didn’t do a damn thing!”

He doesn’t look at me, nor does he respond immediately. But after taking a deep breath, Nox says, “I had no choice. This is more complicated than you think,” he says, looking straight ahead.

I study his face, looking for any little lie he’s telling me, but I can’t find any.

“When I got my memories back, and I met Dana again, I didn’t recognize her right away. But I recognized Kyrie’s scent on her.”

“Do you know Kyrie?” I ask with my eyes widened.

“Well, I know her, yes,” he says with a small smile as if remembering Kyrie. “But that’s not the Kyrie you probably know. The Kyrie I know is older than me, enough to be my great-grandmother.”

When he speaks the last word, his entire body goes rigid for a moment, and he stops walking, but he continues a second later.

“I didn’t know who Dana was, but I knew that Kyrie’s fated mate wasn’t a woman. He was a warrior in the pack, but he had already died when I was born,” Nox says.

“So does that mean Kyrie gets a second chance?” I ask him, feeling a little more relieved in my heart.

I’m sure that when this happens, it will be because Dana will send him to her. After all, Dana always wanted the best for Kyrie.

My smile widens as I imagine Dana on the moon tormenting the Moon Goddess so she can not leave Kyrie helpless.

“Goddess! I shouldn’t have told you that!” he says, blinking hard and pressing his lips into a thin line.

“Why not?” I ask. My anger returns to my body because, at any opportunity he gets, he chooses not to tell me his things.

“It’s too dangerous. I’m here to fulfill my purpose, Alexa,” he says harshly, looking directly into my eyes so I can be sure of his seriousness. “Moon Goddess warned me that terrible things would happen if I failed. If someone discovers something that will happen and prevents it, it could lead to a catastrophic effect!”

“Is that why you didn’t save Dana?”

“Yes, but also because I didn’t know when exactly she would die,” he replies. I feel for our mate bond that he is telling me the truth. “I didn’t know that part of the pack members would die like that, and in a way, I’m relieved that I didn’t know because I don’t know what I would have done. I probably would have stopped it.” *True*. I can feel that. “But when I stopped to think about it, it makes sense that they died because I don’t remember them in the future, and frankly, I know almost everyone in my kingdom.”

“How come?” I ask, confused. “The current Alpha King does not know all the members of his kingdom.” Is Nox lying to me again?

“Well, I don’t know about him, but I.. Well... How can I tell you... Uhmm...” he seems to be looking for the right words to say.

“Let me guess... You talk to *everyone*?” I ask, shaking my head and leaning on his shoulder.

Nox gives me a small, adorable, shy smile. He’s really cute when he’s embarrassed. “I wouldn’t say that, but yes... Yeah. I talk to everyone. And I know the story of most people’s lives.”

“Oh, fuck! You really are a big chatterbox, aren’t you?”

Nox blushes all over his face and neck, and I feel his chest heat up before he blushes there, too. I hide my smile. “Well, Mom calls me little, not big.”

I couldn’t control my laugh. The trees start to disappear around us, which means our house is already close.

“What’s Kyrie like in the future?” I ask curiously.

“You know I can’t answer that,” he says, looking at me.

“I promise not to tell anyone anything or interfere in anything. I swear,” I beg.

He takes a deep breath for a moment before letting out a long, defeated sigh. “Okay... Uhmm... I can tell you that Kyrie’s grandson is my aunt Vick’s fated mate. Uhm... we are not related by blood, but we’re just as close.”

“Wow!” I say in surprise at how our lives are connected.

“Do you miss your parents?”

Nox remains silent. The brightness in his eyes disappears, and I move my head away to see his face better. He looks sadder than ever. I hate how crestfallen my Prince looks.

Way to kill his mood...

“Yes... I miss them daily! Sometimes, I catch myself thinking about what they would do if they were here. They are the best parents I could ask for. The Goddess Selena really blessed me with them.”

The sadness in his eyes disappears as soon as he starts talking about his parents.

“What’s your mother like?” I ask.

Again, Nox gets tense as we’re almost home.

Something is off!

He does not answer me.

“Nox. What aren’t you fucking telling me?” I ask him sharply.

He does not answer again. “Put me down,” I command him.

“No, you’re not well enough to walk right now. It’s not good for you or the baby.”

“Then tell me the truth! Now, Nox!”

Nox winces, and when he turns to look at me, the ocean in his eyes is a turmoil of haunted, hostile waters. He rasps, his voice the lowest I’ve ever heard it. “Don’t freak out. But... you’re my mother’s grandmother.”

Every muscle in my body tensed. I stop breathing immediately. “Alexa?” Nox asks, worried.

“What? Are you telling me I’m your great-fucking-grandmother?”

What the actual fuck?
