It can't be possible!

I blink several times to make sure it's Becca in front of me, because even with my vision much better than when I was human, I still can't believe what I'm seeing.

I come out from behind Kaiden and go to her. She's alive!

But Kaiden stops me. He grabs my arm firmly, and I stop going and turn to him, confused, "It's Becca! She's alive!"

'She's with Duncan,' he mindlinked me with a serious voice, looking into my eyes.

When I turn back to look at Becca, she is already close to me, and in the blink of an eye, Duncan attacks Kaiden, pushing him away from me, and Becca's hand squeezes my neck.

"What are you doing?" I ask her, scared, starting to run out of air as I try to remove her firm grip.

"Don't touch her!" Kaiden commands from afar. He punches Duncan in the face and breaks away from him.

"Don't come any closer, or I'll break her neck," Becca threatens Kaiden, and he stops in his tracks abruptly with both hands raised in surrender.

"Don't hurt her!" he speaks through his teeth.

"Becca-a..." I try to speak, but her grip is too tight, "what a-are you doing? Why-y?"

She shows me her teeth in a devilish smile. There's something strange in her eyes... Her smell is rotten! Is that how rogues stink?

'No, it's not,' Ruby answers me.

'What should we do?'

'I can't shift with her squeezing your neck. I need an opening,' Ruby growls as I try to get Becca's hands off my neck with all my strength, but she doesn't even move.

Duncan tries to attack Kaiden while he is staring at Becca like a hawk, but Kaiden anticipates his attack and repeats the same punch he threw to his jaw during their fight earlier, causing Duncan to faint on my mate's side.

"Pathetic," Kaiden says without blinking or looking away from Becca. "Let her go. It was me who killed you, not her."

"How are you a-alive?" I try to ask.

She continues to stare at Kaiden, and after a moment of tension, she responds, "How am I alive?" her evil smile increases, as does her grip, "I should thank you for that because it was thanks to the fruits of the sacred tree, the witches used all those sacred fruits to bring me back to life."

"No!" I whine, "were you the one who attacked the Three Trees?"

No! This can't be real!

"Me? Don't be stupid, I was dead. I had no way of breaking into that hell," she responds impatiently, "however, right after the protective barrier fell–"

"You were working for Duncan this whole time! You were following his orders when you attacked me," Kaiden cuts her off and takes a step towards us.

"Stop immediately, or I'll rip that scumbag's life out of her belly right now!"

My body immediately freezes when I hear her threat, just like Kaiden.

Even my hands stop trying to loosen her grip.

"Why, Becca? Why?" I ask as I look into her eyes and find no shred of the humanity she had before. Somehow, it's Becca in front of me, but it's not the Becca I knew.

"It was all her parents' fault!" she finally takes her eyes off Kaiden and looks into mine, making me wince, "they didn't save my pack when we were attacked–"

"You know there wasn't time. My parents did the best they could–"

"It wasn't enough! I planned my revenge with them for years, but I realized that the greatest revenge would be to kill you," she says, raising an eyebrow, "I know your secret. I know that you are a red wolf," my eyes widen. Damn! I forgot that my parents said she knew, too.

"Does Duncan know?" Kaiden asks seriously; he seems closer than before.

"Obviously not! He promised to choose me as his mate, he promised me he would revive me if I died. I just didn't know it would take so long. I didn't risk telling him that you were a red wolf. If he found out that there's such a powerful wolf out there, he would have already forced you to be his mate!"

"Only over my dead body!" Kaiden growls angrily.

"Don't worry about it because you'll be dead soon," Duncan says, then attacks Kaiden, and the two start fighting.

"Becca, please–"

"Shut the fuck up, I hate you! You always had everything! Perfect parents, a perfect wolf, a perfect pack, and an Alpha mate!" she says through her teeth with so much hate that she drops saliva on my face.

"Your parents loved you so much, your mate attacked Kaiden's pack to avenge your death–"

"He was a weak idiot! I was only with him as long as I could use him. As soon as Duncan chose me as his mate, I would kill that idiot because just rejecting him wouldn't be enough!"

Oh, Goddess! Who is this being before me? Where is that happy and fun Becca that I have known since I was a child?

"You're not Becca...Becca, you're not like that, it's Duncan who's making you–"

She slaps me in the face with her other hand to stop me while laughing loudly, "You're so stupid! I've always been like this. It's just that you're too stupid to see it," she smirks with her teeth bared as I feel blood coming out of my nose.

"You know what, Katie? You don't know how surprised I was when my first job for Duncan was stealing a royal prophecy, and it mentioned a red wolf," my heart feels like it stopped beating. I'm so shocked, "I could sell the information to Duncan about who the red wolf is, he could kill you himself and I would have my revenge," she says with a widening smile, happy that she managed to leave me like this, while I listen to the fighting noises of my mate and Duncan's fighting in the background, "however, I thought better and saw that I could gain a lot more if I didn't reveal it, and best of all, I could have my revenge by killing you with my bare hands as they are here right now around your neck!"
