"No!" Kaiden screams towards us, feeling the same pain as me when Becca squeezes my neck even tighter.

Duncan uses it against Kaiden, and I can't see what happens, but one second, Kaiden is sprinting toward me, and the next, he's on the ground.

'Kaiden! Kaiden!' I mindlink him, but he doesn't respond. 'Please, Kaiden!'

"What did you do to him?" I scream with all my strength, but Becca's strength is much greater than mine; it's such an evil force! It doesn't seem to be from this world... No one should relive the way she did. I'm almost sure that a part of her came back, but it's not entirely her. This strength beyond her natural strength is not from this world!

I can feel several black oil spots inside her. It reminds me a little of the ones inside Char when I was healing her, but Becca's seem much more powerful.

"You stupid bitch!" Duncan attacks Becca, punching her in the face. She almost lets go of me, but at the last second, she squeezes even tighter.

"You didn't tell me she was the red wolf!" he growls furiously at her and then turns to me. "I knew there was something suspicious about you. The last time I saw you, you were just a human." He smiles like he's connecting all the dots in his head.

"What did you do to Kaiden?" I try to ask as I struggle trying to get out of Becca's grip.

"The sacred tree's fruits served much more than bringing me back to life. They further enhanced the strength and power of Duncan and me–"

Becca can't finish because suddenly Duncan attacks brutally, and we both fall to the ground. I try to protect my baby from the sudden fall, "Take your filthy hands off my future mate," he growls at her.

"What?" Becca looks at him angrily.

"Did you really think I would allow a low ranking wolf to be Bloodmoon's Luna?" he mocks as he punches her again.

"But you promised–"

I am finally released from her grip as Duncan rips Becca's head from her body, and I waste no time! I dash to where my mate's body is.

"Kaiden!" I come close to him and kneel down next to him.

Now I know why it was so difficult for Kaiden to beat Duncan in the third round. I look at Duncan as I stand before Kaiden to protect him.

Duncan removes some things from Becca's body and eats them even though the blood is still there. I want to vomit just looking at his bloody hands. "I'm not going to waste these sacred fruits, right, my future mate?"

He smiles at me at the disgusted face I make as he swallows the bloody berries and walks towards me.

'Kaiden? Kaiden?' I try to talk to him via mindlink, but he doesn't respond. I put my two hands on him to try to heal him, but it seems that the evil stain that was inside Becca is now inside him, too.

However, I heal him enough to wake up and look at me in a daze, but he can't move. He doesn't seem to have the strength to do so.

"What did you do to him?" I ask Duncan again with hatred in my eyes.

I hold Kaiden's hand. He looks at me with so much pain... Goddess Selena, help us!

"A little concoction the witches made for me," he grins and wipes the blood from his mouth with the back of his hand. "I've been trying to kill him for a long fucking time!"

His smile is gone, his mask falls, and he looks at Kaiden with hatred. "I already wanted you out of the competition from the moment I saw you participating in the initiation ceremony with your arrogance," he snarls with a disdainful face, "I didn't kill the last Alpha King to lose to you!"

"What?" I ask, horrified but not surprised.

"Ah, redhead, you don't know how easy it is to hire the right rogues these days," he says with a smirk, and I suddenly remember the last time *someone* called me a redhead.

"You!"

"Of course it was me, I've been trying to attack Kaiden's packs for months, and this son of a bitch counters our offensives at the last minute! I had you under my thumb, redhead. I was going to kill you in front of him and then kill him to get him out of the tournament, but he rescued you first!"

I don't think I've ever seen someone so vicious! So evil! How can he be so cruel with so many innocent lives in that place?

"But everything has a purpose, doesn't it?" he says as he takes a crumpled piece of parchment out of his pocket, "at the time, I didn't know that you were the long-awaited red wolf," he smirks at me. "When I ordered the Alpha King to be killed, I didn't know about this stupid sacred prophecy of fulfillment. I hated it when I discovered its existence and ordered that stupid female to steal it for me," he points to Becca with his other hand that isn't holding the piece of yellowed parchment, "that useless female didn't do her job right. She didn't steal the whole parchment, she just took part of the prophecy," he goes to Becca's body and kicks her hard, making her headless body turn her belly down.

I wince with him, hitting her lifeless body.

"What everyone knows is that the next crowned Alpha King will have an extremely powerful heir, never seen before," he says, looking into my eyes, then opens the parchment and starts reading. "But what no one knows is that there was no need for all this stupid competition. The royal prophecy says that the next Alpha King would be the Alpha who had a Luna with a red wolf as a fated mate!"

My hands leave Kaiden and go straight to cover my mouth because my jaw drops in disbelief.

What?

"Exactly!" he barks, "It didn't need the tournament because it was already predicted in something sacred that Kaiden will be the next Alpha King because he has you, a red wolf, as his fated mate. But that doesn't matter anymore," he walks in my direction with a straight face, "you already have the heir that the prophecy mentions," his eyes go straight to my belly, to the life blooming within me.

My hands automatically go directly to protect my swollen belly, "Don't you come near my baby!" I growl at him.

"Your baby?" he tsks with his tongue, "it will be my heir just like you will be my chosen mate. Kaiden is already almost dead. There is nothing you can do that will stop me. As soon as I tell everyone about your wolf, I will be the next Alpha King."

"I'm going to tell everyone the truth. If you think I'm going to stay silent, you've got another thing coming," I say through gritted teeth, my jaw hurting from clenching so much.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you. If you dare tell anyone, I'll kill that bastard in your belly–"

He doesn't continue his ridiculous threat because Chad's wolf appears out of nowhere and attacks him seconds before he gets closer to me.

"Chad!"

'I felt like something was wrong with Ruby and you!' he mindlinks me while biting Duncan, but Duncan shifts and attacks him back.

"You have to get out of here!" Mr. Wylder appears at my side.

"Mr. Wylder?" I ask without understanding.

"The border's pack was attacked, and my wolf guided me here," he says in his ancient voice, "I heard everything he said, my Luna Queen," he tells me with a gentle smile despite the two ferocious wolves fighting against each other on our side.

I'm startled to hear him call me that, but I don't waste time and start trying to heal my mate.

I place my hands where the dark spots are most concentrated, and I feel my hands burn with my incisive demand of my power.

Help me, Moon Goddess, please!

'Where are Jake and Jay?'

'Kaiden asked them for help, but they had to stay behind to defend the pack,' Chad mindlinked me.

Suddenly, the noise of the fight stops, and I look to the side and see the body of Chad's wolf lying down and Duncan coming towards us like a true predator.

"No!" I cry when I see Chad.

'We need to heal him, too!' Ruby says apprehensively.

Duncan shifts, and my hatred for him becomes so great that I don't even notice that he is literally naked in front of me.

"You will never be Alpha King, Alpha Duncan," Mr. Wylder says bravely, "this tournament will be nullified because it is Alpha Kaiden's birthright to be the next Alpha King and rule all wolves. I heard everything you said, and I won't let you be crowned–"

Duncan attacks Mr. Wylder, and he tries to defend himself, but Duncan is much stronger than him.

I try even harder to annihilate what is killing my fated mate.

Chad quickly runs over to Duncan and attacks him again, taking him off Wylder.

'Chad is really hurt. Duncan is going to kill him if we don't heal him!' Ruby whimpers.

I feel everything that was torturing my mate disappear from inside him, and in a jolt, Kaiden gets up.

He shifts quickly, and I see Troy's massive form running towards Duncan and Chad.

"Mr. Wylder, stay here. I'll help them," I tell him and shift, letting Ruby control my body.

'No! Help Chad!' Kaiden begs me for mindlink.

Ruby wastes no time and goes to where Chad is lying on the ground in his human form.

Troy starts fighting Duncan so aggressively that it looks like he's still under the full moon curse.

Ruby climbs on top of Chad's naked body and places her head against his heart.

'He can't die,' I cry to Ruby.

'I know, he fought so bravely to defend us!' Ruby responds by concentrating all her power to save our protector.

'Chad, please stay alive! Stay with us,' I mindlink him.

Kaiden growls at Duncan, and I can't see what's going on, but I know it's not easy for Duncan.

No one messes with me or our baby and comes out alive to tell the tale.

Kaiden kills without mercy.

I feel Chad put his arms around Ruby in a hug.

'Chad!' I shout via mindlink to him.

Ruby lifts her head and looks at his face. He opens his eyes and looks at her.

'Thank you for saving me,' he smiles and kisses Ruby's forehead while stroking her head with his other hand.

'Always!' She mindlinks to him and his wolf.

Suddenly, the noise of the fight stops, and I see Kaiden approaching me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, Goddess!

Troy rubs his neck against Ruby, and she does the same, and they both howl with happiness.

'Can you two get off me, please?' Chad mindlinks us, laughing.

We both got off of him but continued to caress each other.

'I was so scared,' I tell Troy and Kaiden.

'I will die before I let anything happen to you and our baby,' Troy promises us.

Mr. Wylder approaches the two of us after making sure that Duncan is dead. "I will contact the Royal council immediately," he says, looking at Kaiden's wolf and mine. "The tournament would have a fourth round, but that doesn't matter anymore. Kaiden needs to be crowned because we need to follow the prophecy! We always follow what is sacred, what the Moon Goddess orders us," he speaks firmly with his wisdom.

Then he just looks at Ruby, "Goddess! I've never seen a red wolf or one so beautiful before! You look heavenly!" he praises in awe.

Ruby nods at what he says, and then he starts walking towards the packhouse.

Chad shifts, and his wolf playfully pushes Ruby's head. Ruby plays with him, and then her eyes hover where Becca's headless body is.

Ruby goes to where she is, and Troy follows her.

Troy stares at Becca's lifeless head, 'She died again. I hope this time she stays dead!' he says with hatred.

Even though I was a little sad initially to see Becca lifeless on the ground, I couldn't feel the pain the first time she died. On the contrary, this time, I feel angry for not believing Jake.
