I hate the hopeful look in those grayish-green eyes that I fell madly in love with.

"No, Katherine! Don't tell me you'll forgive him," I say to her in disbelief.

What else does this fucker have to do for her to stop defending him?

"Where is he?" she asks, staggering out of bed. I go to her and try to help her, "I want to hear him tell me this, I want to hear from him why he did all of this."

"And does it matter? You almost died!" I scream at her, I didn't want to scream, but it's impossible to stay calm at a time like this.

She is startled by my voice, and her weak body starts to shake; I run my hand over my face, trying to calm myself down. Fuck my life.

"Kaiden, please let me talk to him," she begs in a soft voice, sitting on the bed.

I look at the ceiling and take a deep fucking breath. Fuck!

"You can't even move properly! You can't go to him," I say, lowering my head and looking at her.

"What? What do you mean? Where is he?" she asks me, confused.

"He's in jail, of course. Where else would he be?" I ask, running my hand over my face.

"Bring him here–"

"Absolutely not! I'm not bringing him near you!" I interrupt her, "I don't want you to go near him until I kill him!"

She widens her eyes again, "No! Please, Kaiden, I need to talk to him. Don't do this... I know you *don't* want to do this to him; you're acting on impulse!" tears roll down her beautiful face as she begs me.

Fuck. She's right. I don't know if it's because she's here now, safe and sound, but my hatred for him has diminished since the rescue.

But what he did is *unforgivable*!

"Please," she says with one hand holding my hand and the other holding her flat belly.

How can I deny her anything, for Goddess' sake?

Especially when she looks at me like that.

I can't deny her anything! If she asks me to get her a piece of the moon, I will personally go to the Goddess Selena.

I grunt, knowing I've lost this battle.

"I would never have put you in that situation if I had known, I regret what I did so much, I would go back in time if I could," Chad says, crying with his chained hands, wiping the tears from his face.

I can't believe I agreed to bring her here where the prisoners' cells are.

I can't even calm down seeing her in this place, my state of alert is more than heightened by seeing my little mate surrounded by enemies.

However, I wanted to bring her here for other reasons, I want to know if she can identify some of the rogues I brought as prisoners.

She's not in the cell that Chad was in. She's in one of the rooms where she can sit because she can't stand for long. Her body is still so fragile.

Now she is sitting with her arms resting on the table while the fucker is sitting opposite her, confessing his sins.

I'm on her side, waiting for any reason to rip his head off, silently hoping he does something stupid. I'd love to fuck something up right now.

"Why?" Katie asks softly, and he stops crying and looks at her.

I hear the noise of the chains on his feet and wrists, even though I know he wouldn't run away. You can't be too careful.

"I thought... I thought we could be together. Start somewhere, we were so happy... I just wanted to be happy with you again," he admits, wiping away his fat tears. "I accept any punishment Kaiden deems necessary. What I did was unforgivable!"

Another person saying this, I would say, is pure falsehood, that they are saying this just to gain trust, but I know Chad. I know everything he's saying is true. And that makes me the most angry because I'm conflicted and don't know what to do.

"I thought you were happy... I thought you were happy living with me," Katie says, her voice breaking as tears roll down her cheeks, "I thought you were happy being around me, I didn't know that You were feeling that way," she whispers.

"I was! I was happy! What I did doesn't reflect what I was feeling! I made a mistake, Katie, but I assure you that just being around you made me happy," he replies, trying to console her.

I groan at him, he looks at me and then looks at her, she is now crying inconsolably. "What you did was horrible, I thought I was going to die... I've never been so scared and terrified!"

He holds his head with his hands, and I feel him holding his breath, then he looks me in the eyes and says through mindlink, '*Kill me*, please! I can't live with that! Kill, me, please, Kaiden,'

I run my hand on my face. Fuck, I was supposed to be enjoying this moment.

Something suddenly changes in Chad, something I hadn't seen before. His eyes are as anguished as I've ever seen, the same eyes that have helped me several times throughout my life, with my family, with my pack, with my curse.

"But... I don't want to lose you," she says, sobbing.

"What I did has consequences, Katie, I don't know if I can live knowing everything I put you through," he confesses to her, resting his chained arms on the table.

My little sun lifts her head and looks at me with such a sad look that I don't know what to do.

"Please, Kaiden," she says, whispering.

I take another deep breath and try to organize my thoughts. I notice that Troy is silent as if he's letting me decide this on my own.

I face Chad while asking for wisdom from Goddess Selena.

"I'm your Alpha, your best friend and your brother," I start saying, and his crying eyes meet mine, "if you touch her, you die. If you have any intention of having Katie as your chosen mate, you'll be punished just as severely," I say with a sneer, glaring over at him, "let this be implanted in your fucking head," I hold my gaze for a long moment.

I look at my little sun, and she smiles at me; I don't smile back. "Your punishment won't be with your life, but don't think it will be something pleasant."

Katie's smile disappears, and I hold her hand and lift her up, "Let's go. I have a task for you," I tell her when I see her confused look.

"I'll be back in a little bit so we can play," I say to him with a dark smirk on my face and I feel Katie's weak body stiffen next to me.

"Who did this to you?"

I ask Katie, pointing to her fists. "Point out to me which one hurt you," I clench my jaw, afraid of what these motherfuckers might have done to her.

I didn't want to expose her to more pain, especially with her body so weak. But I couldn't let this opportunity pass by.

Whoever hurt her will be punished more than double. Whoever hurt her will suffer much more before they die.

"What?" She looks at me with hesitant eyes. They can't see her because they are in another soundproof room, but we can see them through the mirror.

All the rogues we brought back as prisoners, Jason lined up for her to see.

"You heard me. Point out who hurt you, and I'll kill them in a *special* way," I say as if it were obvious.

"Are you going to kill them?" she asks again, in disbelief.

"Yes." She darts out her tongue, moistening her lips. My little pacifist is struggling with that concept.

I try to contain my smile at the internal battle I know she's having right now.

My little sun doesn't have a bad bone in her body. It's her nature not to be able to wish harm on anyone, even if someone has done her harm. That's why seeing her so hesitant makes me amused, Troy isn't holding back either, he's thrilled by her reaction as much as I am.

"If anyone so much as touches you, whether you want him to or not, he will die. Those who hurt you will die screaming. I promise you that. Troy promises you that. Not all the rumours about me are wrong, my little mate," I tell her seriously.

She looks back at the rogues in front of her, and I stay like a hawk, attentive to her every movement.

I see her eyes pass by the first males; her eyes are scared, and her hands are in front of her body as if she is trying to protect herself.

When her eyes see the two bald rogues that are almost at the end of the line, her body starts to shake all over as she points at them, "t-them," she says with her hand over her mouth, holding it so she doesn't cry, I've never seen her so scared. My arms quickly hug her, "The first one is c-called Kevin, I don't know the other's n-name," she says softly as if she's afraid of them hearing her.

Her body shakes with terror, I smell her fear in the air, and when one of the bald guys looks our way with a ghoulish smile as if he can see us, she gasps and passes out in my arms.
