Werewolf

Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 199: Book 2 - Chapter 32

I use all the mental effort I can summon to remain with a straight face as the three of them stare at me.

Letum looks at me suspiciously, and Dana examines me curiously. I can feel the distrust in Alexa’s eyes, as well as a hint of sadness.

She knows I’m hiding something from her. Fuck.

“Why did you ask what that smell is?” Alexa asks me, crossing her arms. Letum approaches Dana.

“Hmm... I... because it’s not a werewolf scent,” I say. I have to swallow past the lump in my throat.

“Yeah, actually, my fated mate is a witch!” Dana says proudly. “Oh, my Goddess! I can’t believe I’m talking to Prince!”

She talks so excitedly that I can’t help but feel sad...

Dana looks at Alexa’s neck and abruptly looks at me, and then she runs to me and hugs me tight. “I knew you were mates! I’m so happy for you, Prince. Tell me everything, Lexi!”

I hug her back, holding myself back from crying. I can’t believe she died so young. All this time I spent around her and Letum, she was always so kind to me and always had my girl’s back.

I can smell Kyrie on her even more with her so close to me. “His name is Nox,” Alexa says from behind her, and Dana lets go of the hug.

Kyrie lives a little far from the packhouse; she lives alone in the forest. She moved there when her grandpup moved to the packhouse to live with my Aunt Vick. Evan is Aunt Vick’s fated mate.

Well, she’s not really my aunt; when I was little, I called everyone uncle or aunt. Uncle Dustin, Uncle Jay, Uncle Jake, Uncle Chad, Aunt Jude, Aunt Char. Calling her ‘Aunt Vick’ was natural, and she always liked me calling her like that.

I remember Kyrie said that her fated mate died long before the Three Tree’s protective barrier was made.

I don’t know much about him or how he died, but I know he was a pack warrior.

“Nox! I like it!” Dana repeats my name, clapping her hands excitedly. “Prince suits you better,” *if she only knew*, “but Nox is good too,” she says and continues babbling.

Alexa looks at me suspiciously, and I try to change the subject. “Let’s go inside. You must be tired from the trip,” I say and pull Alexa close to me, placing my arm around her shoulders.

Dana starts to enter the cave, and I direct Alexa to do the same. But I hear Letum ask behind me.

“How. And. Why?” He peeks at me suspiciously.

“I don’t know,” I lie. “When Alexa was attacked, something happened inside me, and when I saw it, I was a giant wolf. And then she recognized me as fated mate, and we marked each other.”

“But how are you talking? You couldn’t before.” He squints his eyes.

“I don’t know how it happened but I started talking after she marked me, I don’t remember anything other than you guys.” I say firmly, leaving no room for more questions.

He gives a curt nod. I don’t know if he believed it, but apparently, it seemed to be enough because he entered the cave right away.

I also don’t remember Letum in the future. At least in Dana’s case, I’m sure she dies because I know Kyrie, and she doesn’t have Dana as her fated mate. I would have recognized her.

However, with Letum, I don’t know if he died or not just because I don’t remember him in the future. He could have changed packs, or something else could have happened that made him move away from the Three Trees pack.

I look at his neck while Alexa hugs me around the waist. He doesn’t have any marks on his neck. He hasn’t found his fated mate yet. In the best scenario, Letum can find her in the future far away from the pack.

It’s sucks. I want to tell them about the future. But I can’t do that; it could have a devastating effect like the Moon Goddess said.

Dana starts talking excitedly to Alexa about her mate, her little witch — like called her, and I look into her eyes filled with such happiness.

Fuck, Dana...

“...And so we had to come without anyone,” Dana tells me as she settles herself, sitting on one of the benches Nox did.

However, my gaze is on Letum. He’s usually more subtle when he looks at her. I notice him looking at her with longing in his eyes... She glances at him, and he immediately turns his eyes away when he notices that she is looking at him.

I clear my throat, sitting on one of the benches with Nox by my side. “Dana, cut the crap! I want the truth!” I say seriously because I feel like they are both hiding something from me. I feel Nox’s body tense next to me. “Letum, what the fuck is going on?” I look at them both back and forth.

“Lexi... I didn’t want to have to tell you, but,” she folds her hands in her lap, and then she shifts uncomfortably in her seat.

“Just say it!” I snarl impatiently.

“The situation is worse than we realized,” Letum says seriously, looking into my eyes. “Your parents are helping other packs. There was no way our Beta or Gamma could come with us as they were either helping your parents or needed to stay in the central cave.”

“I already knew that a lot of people need help, but we’re doing something big here! We need all the help we can get so all the pack members can come here and have a place to live, for Goddess’ sake!” I say, almost shouting. “*Isn’t that important enough?*” I ask harshly.

Letum and Dana look at each other, but it’s Letum who goes on, “All the packs they are helping, Lexi, are packs that were invaded by the Bloodmoon pack in search of the red wolf.”

He doesn’t need to say anything more.

This is all my fault! This is all my fault!

I should—

“Hey, hey, look at me!” Nox bends down in front of me and holds my face with one of his big hands to look at him. “It’s not your fault, okay?”

“How not? Didn’t you hear what he said?” I say hysterically. “I should give myself up to Bloodmoon! Many people are suffering and dying because of me!”

“You are not going to do that!” Nox says firmly.

His manner is authoritative, commanding, and self-confident, as though he knows he’ll be respected and obeyed with these seven words. I’d be lying if I said that his words didn’t calm me down or it didn’t turn me on. “We’re going to figure this out together, okay?”

I find myself nodding at him. He takes me out of my seat and sits in my seat. Then he puts me on his lap.

I clear my throat, “No one else wanted to come with you?” I ask in almost a whisper.

“Nigel was a little off; he had to go out to solve something that Alpha asked him, and every time I irritated him with something, he said that I am lucky that I’m a warrior,” she shrugs, “he wanted to come, but Alpha told him to come later.”

“When you go visit Kyrie again, maybe we’ve already done enough to bring some people, or some people can come to help us,” I say, trying to compose myself.

Nox continues to rub my back, which helps calm me down.

After Dana and Letum informed me how things were going in the central cave, I told them about the attack in more detail. Which made them get a little scared and thank Nox for saving me. He snorted and said he would give his life for me, which made me blush at his bluntness.

Then they went to take a bath in the hot springs, leaving Nox and me alone.

“Hey, what’s wrong?” he says softly, and I hug his neck.

“I’m just so tired of worrying about everything.” I admit, trying to control myself so I don’t cry. I need to be stronger.

I feel like he’s hiding something from me, but it’s a lot to deal with right now. And honestly, I’m afraid to discover what it is and to feel even more sorrowful. I don’t know if I’ll be able to continue living if something happens between the two of us. Somehow, Nox became everything to me.

“I know, baby girl. I’m going to help you build all the houses, and then we’re going to help all these people who are in need,” he tells me as he carries me to our bed. “Everything’s going to be alright, okay, little Princess?”

Little princess? *Little*?

I bite the inside of my cheek to hold back my anger. He can only be mocking me if he thinks I’m small.

I was about to snarl at him, but he lays down on the bed and pulls me so that my head is on his wide chest.

My cowardly, traitorous body snuggles up to him, and I almost purr when he starts to gently stroke my hair.

I lift my head slightly to look at him. I can’t help but notice that Nox seems to be as lost in his thoughts as I am.
