She accesses me through her eyes as bright as the full moon in the sky.

I can’t look at them directly because her raw power is too strong, even though her maternal aura calms my body.

I look down and see my clothes. Again, I encounter Moon Goddess while I am wearing the same outfit; she must think that I only have these clothes. I stifle back a laugh. Well, I literally only have *these* clothes.

“Please, Goddess Selena, take me back to the future,” I beg her with hands flat on the ground and head bowed in respect and adoration.

This is not my reality. This can’t be right! I can’t stay here!

The night writhes as if it aches to be in her lungs, yearning for the honor of being a part of her. “Look at me, my little wolf,” she says to me in her maternal and celestial voice.

I slowly lift my head and try to look at her. Her face exudes a beauty that compels one to prostrate oneself in reverence before her. “Do you truly desire to return?”

Her question doesn’t seem to have any kind of judgment or condemnation, but I can still feel a pang of sadness in my heart.

Mine or hers, I’m not sure.

Is that really what I want?

If I go, I’ll have to abandon my fated mate. I waited so long for her, just as she waited for me for so long.

She was so happy to know that I was her fated mate. I can’t describe in words how much *I* wanted her to be mine.

But that’s wrong, isn’t it?

“You brought me here so I can fulfill my purpose?” I ask instead.

She doesn’t respond with words. The corner of her mouth lifts almost imperceptibly as she gives a short nod. Her hair cascades in lustrous tendrils reminiscent of moonlight, evoking an ethereal beauty.

I begin to think more clearly, feeling calmer just being in the presence of the Moon Goddess. Suddenly, I feel so small in front of her great power.

“My purpose is to help Alexa build the Three Trees Pack?” I ask, anxious to find answers.

She looks at me intently as if she’s considering whether it’s worth answering me. Her delay seems like an eternity, or it could have just been my damn anxiety. “You have performed well thus far, Nox.” Moon Goddess responds with a motherly look. This time, the wolf souls are not around her, and I can see her bare feet delicately hovering, pointed with grace, just above the ground.

What does she mean by that? I literally did nothing! I was a burden to my fated mate this entire time!

I look at my hands in confusion. It doesn’t make sense. However, I know better than to waste time thinking while I’m in her presence, which last time was so brief that I couldn’t almost ask her anything.

*Why couldn’t she say yes to me directly?*

I attempt to redirect my thoughts so she doesn’t perceive my insubordination.

I begin to feel her light fade into the air, and I realize that she is already leaving like the last time.

“No! Wait, please, Goddess Selena,” I say desperately, “Is Alexa the gift you said you would give me?”

She gives me a gentle smile like I know nothing before disappearing for good. I kind of regret asking this because I feel in my heart that my fated mate *is indeed* my gift.

Goddess Selena doesn’t answer anyway.

***The Healer***

I open my eyes. The sun outside has already risen and is illuminating the cave. I stretch, feeling complete in a way I haven’t in a long, long time.

*If ever.*

My eyes scan my surroundings as I try to remember yesterday.

I slept in my Prince’s arms.

A huge smile forms on my lips. I touch my fingers where he marked me. Goddess, it was so perfect!

My cheeks turn red when I remember how our mate bond night was. I still can’t believe that my Prince is my fated mate.

Speaking of him... I look around, searching for him. He’s not here by my side, not even where I can see.

Unease starts to take on me because he’s not close to me. Where did he go?

My heart races, and when I am about to get out of the blankets,

a voice emerges with a deep resonance, like the rumble of distant thunder, echoing with masculinity and strength. “Looking for me?” the deep, silken voice comes from behind me. I turn my face, my legs already weak. I have to contain my shock.

He is standing a few feet away and watching me, but he looks different. I can’t say precisely what it is, but I know that something in him is different.

My cheeks flush hearing his voice, and I suddenly feel shy. “Hi,” I say sluggishly.

I can’t remember the last time I was shy, but hearing him talking... His voice... Wow...

“You’re talking,” I say softly, looking at him — eye fucking him. He is dressed in his burgundy clothes, he looks so elegant in those clothes, it suits him so much...

He smiles that flashes the dimples on his cheeks, making me smile back automatically.

He walks towards me, and then I gasp when he sits next to me and puts me on his lap, straddling him.

“How?” I ask.

I have so many things to ask him. How is he speaking freely? Suddenly?

Was he faking this whole time? Goddess, he better isn’t because I think I’d freak out!

‘I want to meet our mate’s wolf,’ Tyra almost whines, but then she snarls. ‘Make no mistake, human! No matter how you’re feeling, he’s ours now!’

He looks away from my eyes, looking around the cave as if he was accessing the place. “Hmm... I think that after you marked me, I was able to speak again,” I have to make an effort to try to understand what he’s saying because just sitting on his lap, my mind is already thinking about other things.

But I make an effort to ask because I’m really lost. “Who are you? Why couldn’t you say anything before I marked you?”

I move my head a little away from him so I can look into his eyes. When he responds, his eyes don’t meet mine. Still, his hand rubs my back, “I don’t know... I can’t remember... Okay, I’m a little puddle right now. This guy has me wrapped around his little finger! “Are you happy that I’m your fated mate?” I ask while biting my bottom lip. I suddenly feel aware that I marked him without him ‘allowing’ me.

He takes a while to answer, making me tense. The smile on his face faded a little.

Oh, Goddess!

His lips meet mine in a passionate kiss.

Is kissing his new way of communicating? That’s fine by me!

I release the kiss to breathe. Will every time we get together be like this? Compromising my breathing? That is also fine!

Nox smiles lasciviously at me, getting a palmful of my ass as he squeezes and pulls me in close to his chest. The way he smirks shows half a dimple, and it is way too endearing to me.

I wrap my arms around his neck, and my stomach does a weird fucking flip when he plays with the ends of my hair. Fuck, I’m in love with him.

I don’t think when I confess, “I loved marking you, I didn’t think that would be so hot!” I bite my bottom lip, recalling his hands all over my body. The hot springs.

“Stick with me! I’ll show you all sorts of things you’ve never experienced before.” He says this in such a smug way that, at the same time that it infuriates me, his confidence makes me more in love with him.

My smile is so huge that it is from ear to ear, “I will stick with you!” but then I say seriously, “I’ve never wanted anything more.”

He looks at me intensely as though he is trying to find any trace of doubt in my eyes, but I mean it. I mean everything I said.

Before he responds, I smell his wonderful scent. However, I notice that along with his smell is the scent of the same place where *she was buried*...

But he couldn’t have gone there and back so quickly, could he?

“Me either.” He finally answers.

He lays me back on the blankets, and that quickly takes away the feeling that something is off as I see his face between my spread legs.
