Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 215: Book 2 - Chapter 48

Her dark skin seems to shine more than I remember. Her dark eyes look like two beautiful, shiny black pearls.

There’s so much emotion inside me at the same time that I can’t concentrate on just one thing.

It’s as if I’ve known her for a lifetime. There’s a familiarity in her eyes, a comfort in her presence that makes me feel at home. It’s like finding a missing piece of myself that I never knew was missing.

“Kyrie...” I say, still not believing what’s happening.

“Letum!” the hand that isn’t her pregnant belly, she brings to her mouth in disbelief, with her eyes wide open.

Despite the frenzy I felt when I found out that she was my mate, I suddenly remembered why I was here.

“No...” Kyrie says, seeming to read my thoughts. “No!” she screams, her eyes filling with tears. “Where’s Dana? Where’s *my Lightheart*?”

Finally, I cowardly tear my eyes away from hers because the pain I find in them is too much for me.

It looks like a mirror of mine.

“Letum!” Kyrie screams, and everyone around us becomes apprehensive about her distress. “What happened?!”

I lift my face to meet her eyes again, but unlike I always prefer silence, this time it seems like nothing is coming out of my mouth, and not because I want to. It seems like my body doesn’t want to verbalize the fact that she’s dead.

“Kyrie,” Alpha and Luna come closer to her, touching her shoulders for comfort.

Then they look at me. “Letum, what happened? Why did you call Kyrie ‘mate’?” he speaks firmly.

As much as my body insists on remaining silent, my Alpha’s aura forces me to speak. “Alpha... Everyone who left here is dead!” As soon as I say, I hear everyone around me gasp in sorrow.

Everyone starts talking at the same time. Kyrie stands frozen in disbelief, not moving like the Moon Goddess statue I constructed in our new territory.

I look at the Alpha’s eyes as they look at Luna. They seem to communicate with each other; although they seem sad, they don’t seem surprised.

Then he looks at me with eyes much less soft than when they looked at his mate. Kyrie lets out a scream of terror, and Luna gently hugs her. Everyone is silent when they hear her screams and cries in Luna’s arms.

My wolf and I are in agony, anxious to console her, to hug her. But I don’t know if this is what she needs right now.

“Before everyone arrived in the new territory, Nigel said they were attacked,” I begin to explain after clearing my throat.

‘Bloodmoon?’ Alpha mindlink just to me.

‘Yes, Alpha,’ I reply.

“Nigel said there were many... They fought bravely, but in the end, they were slaughtered.” It seems like everyone is holding their breath, distressed, “Nigel was the only one who survived. He arrived in our new territory very injured, but Lexi healed him.”

When I say Lexi’s name, Alpha and Luna’s eyes soften.

“I knew something was wrong,” Alpha says firmly, looking at Beta. “You should have waited for us to get here so we could all go together.”

“Alpha, Nigel said the route they were going to take was safe. They were going to spend more days traveling, but it would be better for them to get there safely,” Beta defends himself. “If I had known, I would have gone along.”

Everyone seems in pain with the awful news, even the new members I’ve never met. “I should have been here. Fuck!” Alpha punches the stone wall of the cave.

Luna looks at him apprehensively, tears well up in her eyes. She goes to him and hugs him from behind.

I take the opportunity to approach Kyrie, but she takes a step back, with a protective hand on her pregnant belly, without looking at me. The moon-shaped pendant on the bracelet I gave her swings as she moves away from me.

That hurts. It hurts more than any punch I’ve ever received.

‘Give her some time,’ Luna mindlinks me. I don’t respond. I just nod my head.

Kyrie runs towards her bedroom.

“Alpha, what do we do now?” Beta asks.

“We can’t go to the new territory right away,” Lexi’s father responds sharply. “We need time to gather all the people who are in need so they can come with us. And this time, we will all go together.” He turns to everyone around him so they can hear him clearly. “I will protect all of you with my own life if necessary. I ask you to be patient until we are all gathered to go because I will not leave anyone behind. We will go together!”

Everyone around looks at him in admiration, warmed by his words.

Then Alpha turns to me, “How’s the new territory? Will there be a place for everyone?”

“Uhm... Yes, we have built several houses,” everyone seems to become happier upon hearing my words. I continue, even with the pain in my heart. “The packhouse is ready. There are still a few things that need to be done, but there’s nothing that will stop you all from living there.”

“Fuck! Alexa really got us a new territory and a place to live,” Beta rejoys with a smile.

My Luna looks at my Alpha with a smile, and I know they are proud of all the things Lexi has done. I share the same feeling. Lexi will be an excellent Alpha when she commands the pack. And she couldn’t have a better fated mate for her than Nox.

I answer a few more things that Alpha asks me, but I leave aside the fact that Lexi found out that Nox is her fated mate and that he has been helping us.

For some reason, I feel like I shouldn’t say that. I think Lexi should be the one to talk to her parents about this subject. I won’t be able to answer the questions they might ask anyway because I don’t even know that much information about Nox.

I hear screams coming from the direction of Kyrie’s bedroom, and I don’t have a second thought before abruptly running towards her.

This time, no one stops me.

Now I know what it means to have a mate bond with someone. I feel a pain in my heart that seems as great as the one I was already feeling. But this new pain belongs to Kyrie.

I invade her bedroom. She is kneeling on the floor, crying desperately.

I pick her up bridal style and sit with her on my lap in her nest.

Her screams remind me of Dana’s screams when she had her nightmares of Kyrie dying. But now Dana’s nightmares have become a reality. But it was Dana the one who died.

“I know, I know,” I tell her as I hug her tight. She is reluctant but hugs me back, resting her face on my neck.

“Why, Letum? WHY!!!” Kyrie cries nonstop. My broken heart breaks even more as I see my fated mate so sad and desperate.

“I feel the same way,” I tell her, also crying.

She stops crying, still with tears in her eyes, and looks at me. “Did you love her?” she asks confused.

“Yes, I loved her,” I confess. “But you know what’s funny? We live together side by side every day, and I never told her how I felt.” I laugh, but my laugh has no humor. “I never told her that I loved her... That I was in love with her.”

Kyrie looks at me in surprise for a moment, seeming to absorb my words slowly. Then she wipes my eyes with her shaking hands.

“I’m sorry,” I say, looking away. “You must be thinking that I’m a terrible fated mate.” My voice barely comes out when I mention that we are mates.

“No!” she says, cupping my face with her hands and making me look at her two black pearls. “I’m glad to hear that, Letum! I’m glad to hear that you loved Dana,” she says, her voice trailing off on our beloved’s name. “She was the best person in this world... She had such a pure, light heart,” she starts crying again, and I hug her tight.

I still can’t believe Kyrie is my fated mate. And I’m her second chance.

There are so many people for her to have as a second chance, and the Moon Goddess chose me. I couldn’t have won a better fated mate.

I’m euphoric to know that she’s my fated mate. I waited for so many years to meet her... I was so envious of seeing everyone with their fated mates and me without anyone.

And now it’s like I’m under a spell, unable to resist the magnetic pull drawing me closer to her. If my wolf hadn’t been screaming *‘Mate!’* over and over again in my mind, I’d say Dana’s little witch had cast a spell on me.

“Kyrie,” I say her name. I love the sound of her name. “I’m honored to be your fated mate. I’m sorry about what happened to Dana. If I could, she would still be alive,” I tell her. “I would rather never have you as a fated mate just so she can stay alive,” I cry as I confess to her.

“I know, Letum,” she cries along with me, “I can feel you. I’m happy to have you, but I need some time... Dana was everything to me.”

“And you were everything to her, Kyrie! She only talked about you. She only thought about you!”

“Really?” She says, moving her head away a little to look at me.

“Yes! I can tell you everything if you want to,” I promise, and she gives me a smile in response.

“Oh, Spirits! I want it, I want it very much!” she begs me. The desperation in her voice hurts me.

Suddenly, I remember something that is between us both.

“Kyrie... You’re pregnant!” I widen my eyes. She dries my tears, and I dry hers, too, staring at her belly between the two of us.

“Yes,” she says, rubbing her tummy. It’s much bigger than Lexi’s. “And she died without knowing that we were going to have a baby,” new fat tears came from her eyes.

“Shh, I’m here. I’ll take care of you two,” I promise her, trying to comfort her. “You got pregnant when the three of us...”

“Yes,” she says, a small smile on her face. “Can you believe it?”

“Actually, yes... It seems like fate wanted the three of us together,” I say, and then she takes my hand and puts it on her pregnant belly.

If Kyrie and I had made this baby without Dana, I feel like it wouldn’t have been right. Dana was part of our lives. She was Kyrie’s mate by fate and the person who I chose to love.

I reach into my pocket and take out the bracelet that belonged to Dana. When Nigel gave this to Lexi, it was all bloody, but she washed it and gave it to me before I brought it to Kyrie.

She lets out a sob, holding her hand over her mouth when she sees Dana’s bracelet — it seems to make her death real.

“I thought you’d like to have this,” I say. Kyrie nods vehemently and holds out her wrist so I can place the bracelet on it along with her own bracelet.

I put it silently. There are no words to describe this moment of pain.

The first time I saw and saved Kyrie, she was helpless and in pain. Now, she seems to be suffering even more. However, she is not helpless anymore because we will go through our grief together.

I will give her the time she needs, but I will be by her side because even though I could not protect Dana, I will protect Kyrie until the last days of my life. I’m not just a warrior for this pack; now I’m Kyrie’s warrior, too.

Kyrie rests her face on my shoulder and her hand on my chest. I look at the two bracelets I gave them together and now on Kyrie’s wrist. The two moon-shaped pendants, one completing the other.

I realize that even though Kyrie fills almost all of my heart now that she is my fated mate, no matter how much time passes, a part of my heart will always belong to Dana, and it will never change.

And I think Kyrie feels the same way.
