Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 182: Book 2 - Chapter 15

This fucking bitch!

I grind my teeth so hard that my jaw hurts. Nige suddenly appears in front of me, making me stop walking abruptly so I don’t run into him.

He was talking to me, but I didn’t pay attention.

“What happened?” he snaps with open arms.

“What do you want, Nige?” I shout at him, “Get out of my way!”

I’m fucking cornered. I can’t go back. I can’t go to Letum and take that leech away from my Prince myself because they are already far away from me, and I already allowed him to go with Letum.

How pathetic would it be for me to show up there now? I can not do it.

I hate this. I should know better! I should better guard my heart.

“What do I want? I want you to calm down! What happened?” Nige asks, lowering his arms.

“It was *him*, wasn’t it?” he asks with disgust when he says ‘him’.

I almost look away, but I don’t let him have the satisfaction of this reaction. “Let’s hunt.”

I push him out of my way and start walking.

“I don’t like him, Lexi!” he says as he tries to keep up with me, “you shouldn’t treat him like that. I want you to distance yourself from him. He—”

I turn to him abruptly, “Who do you think you are to tell me what I should do?”

He dares to look at me as if hurt by my words, “I care about you, and I don’t like how he’s always by your side. You should have left him by now. Okay? You can stop faking.”

“What do you mean?” I ask, confused.

“I know you only brought him with you to make me jealous, Lexi,” he says with a big smirk. “And it worked, okay? You can leave him anywhere. I don’t care. I want you, Lexi,” he says, holding my wrist.

I quickly let go of his grip without a second thought, “You’re fucking kidding me! Are you crazy?”

“No! I want you, Lexi. I choose you to be my mate! I will reject Rose, and together, we will command the new pack. You found the territory. I realized how much I can’t live without you! Can’t you see? Everything is falling into place perfectly. This is a sign from the Goddess Selena!” he says with conviction.

For a moment, I’m taken aback and wonder if he’s right.

Perhaps this could be the sign of the Moon Goddess. How many nights have I wished it was me, not Rose, to be his fated mate?

He never talked about rejecting her before. On the contrary, he dumped my ass immediately after finding out that she was his fated mate.

So what? He’s a great warrior. He may have had some nasty decisions in the past, but he always took care of me.

‘You can’t be serious,’ Tyra says. ‘I won’t mark him even if he’s the last surviving male on Earth. Either you wait for our fated mate, or we lead *our* pack alone. We are Alpha. Don’t you ever forget that!’

“You complement me far more than Rose does. We align perfectly in every aspect,” he says, trying to hold my hand again; this time, I let him. He opens a slight grin. “I should have rejected her. I shouldn’t have ended what we had.”

Suddenly, Prince’s face comes into my mind.

The way he pulls me closer to him when we’re standing, sitting, or lying down.

The way his long hair falls around his face when he looks at me with his dark blue eyes.

The way he’s happy when I get close to him.

The way I *am* happy when my eyes find his.

I look at Nige’s hand around mine. The warmth of his hand is much greater than Prince’s hand.

But what I *really* notice is how his hand doesn’t fit as perfectly in mine as Prince’s does.

How much I don’t get lost in Nige’s eyes.

How much he is not Prince.

*My Prince.*

I let go of Nige’s hand. He looks at me, waiting for an answer to what he said. “Nige, she is your fated mate—”

“She’s weak. She’s not strong like you.”

I don’t like Rose. The hate she has for me since she found out that I slept with Nige made us never have a friendly conversation.

Who am I to judge Rose? I’m weak, too. If I were strong enough, my Protector would still be here.

He tries to hold my hand again, and when I take a step back, he looks at me angrily, “You’re making a big mistake, Alexa,” he says through gritted teeth.

“Nige, I could wish you the best, but the best is me, and you’ve already lost me!” I say mockingly, and his eyes get angrier, but then, my tone is commanding. “Go back to the cave. I’ll go hunting alone.”

He looks at me for a few seconds, waiting for me to say it’s a joke. When I don’t say anything, he snaps at me, “I know you’re hard-headed, but you have to realize that I’m the best choice for you. What are you going to do? Choose a fucking human who doesn’t even know how to speak?” This time, he is the one with a mocking tone. “I could easily kill—”

I push him in the chest with my hand, and he moves back with the force of my blow, “Don’t you ever touch him,” and then I use my Alpha aura. “I won’t order you to go back to the cave twice.”

He rubs his chest and bares his neck in submission. “Yes, Alpha.”

Then, he leaves furious and doesn’t look back.

Good.

I start hunting, wilder than Tyra.

🐺 🐺 🐺

Before even arriving at the cave, already at the bottom of the mountain, I received help from people who were at the entrance. They took everything I was carrying and brought it into the central cave. I hunted enough for two people since I had sent Nige back to the cave.

I immediately went after Prince as soon as I arrived, but he was nowhere to be found; then I reluctantly asked them if Letum had arrived yet, and they said no.

I start to get worried, but something more important appears.

Dana and Letum guided me to my father’s office.

“What was the problem *this* time?” I ask after sighing.

“Your parents came while you were hunting,” Dana starts to say.

“What?” I get up from the wooden bench where I barely sit. “Where are they?”

“They are gone.” Nige responds, “They just came to see how everything was here.”

“Why didn’t they stay? What’s going on?”

“Speak more quietly!” Nige says, waving his hands down, “he asked me to only say to you.”

“What did they say?” I ask without a shred of patience.

“They’re helping two packs that are suffering from attacks. Kyrie had visions of people needing help, and you know your parents are,” I give her a curt nod, and Dana goes on. “They can’t add more people here, there’s barely room for all of us, but your parents are helping these people to find a place nearby to at least escape,” Dana finish, but I feel like she’s hiding something.

“What aren’t you telling me?” I press them both, looking each one in the eye back and forth.

They look at each other, and it’s Dana who answers me, “Lexi... the Bloodmoon Alpha is hunting you. He’s attacking several packs in search of the *red wolf*.”

My shoulders slump, and I feel defeated.

Because of me, people are suffering.

That’s why my parents are helping them. It’s the least our family can do...

“Didn’t Kyrie come with them?” I ask, trying to swallow the lump in my throat.

“No. They thought it would be safer for her to stay in these people’s shelter your parents found. They just came here to see if everything is right here,” Dana says with tears in her eyes as she passes one arm over the other as if trying to warm her cold for the absence of her fated mate.

I place a hand on her shoulder for silent support, “Did you tell them about the new territory?” I ask.

“Yes,” Nige says with a smile, totally different from the frown he wore earlier. “They were very excited and relieved. They said not to say anything to the pack members yet—”

“Why? They need to know that we will finally have a home!” I shout out to him.

“I know,” Dana says softly, “but your father gave orders to be followed before telling everyone the news.”

“What orders are these?”

“He said to go to the place you found and start building houses for the pack members to shelter in. Even at the end of winter, most people here can no longer do this hard work.” Dana says.

I totally agree with her.

I give a curt nod, “We can do that. Since the pack has few members, it won’t take that long to make shelter for everyone.”

“Luna left us money to buy whatever we need, but she says to use it wisely,” Dana says, pointing to a small box.

That’s all we have. We for sure need to use it *wisely*.

My mind starts working nonstop, thinking about the thousand tasks I now need to do.

We need to build houses, a packhouse — wait. Packhouse? Wow... I haven’t used that word in years. Goddess, how grateful and excited I am about this change!

“We need to get ready to go as quickly as possible,” I tell Dana with a smile on my face. “As soon as Letum arrives, we—”

My smile fades when Nige interrupts me with a smirk, “Alpha said you must take someone else to help.”

No. No. No.

I have a strong intuition about the trajectory of this fucking conversation and where it might fucking lead.

Before I can respond, he continues, with an even more triumphant smile, “You know, the elderly members present here require this urgently,” his voice echoes my concern. Still, something about the way he says it seems more like a mockery than concern.

“I know,” I say firmly, “that’s why I’m going to choose Eliot to go with us.”

My attention falls on Dana when I see her looking away.

“But unfortunately, he won’t be able to go because,” Nige says, although his tone is unapologetic. With a broader grin than before, he goes on, “You see?” he points his hand to himself, “I was the one who Alpha commanded to go with you.”
