Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 183: Book 2 - Chapter 16

Fuck, Dad!

My dad adores Nige. No wonder he left Nige to command everything here in his absence. Besides that, Nige *is* strong. Fuck.

I can’t be surprised by his decision.

Everything will be easier with Nige on our side. I know that. Except for me, of course, I already know that it will be far from easy for me.

My angry face doesn’t lessen Nige’s grin. I know he wants me back, like I also know he won’t give up on what he wants so easily. If there’s one thing Nige is good at, it’s that when he decides something, nothing in his way is enough to make him stop.

I remember once talking to him that he would make an incredible Alpha. That time seems so distant now.

“Are you going with her?” Rose comes in furious. I had heard someone approaching; she probably didn’t hear the entire conversation, just the last part.

“No, he’s not going. He’ll stay here,” I say firmly to Rose but looking at him.

“You can’t go, if you go, I’ll go with you!” Rose threatens.

“You’re not going with me, and don’t you dare threaten me, or I’ll *reject* you,” Nige tells her furiously. She looks at him with tears in her eyes, visibly in pain from what she heard, and runs away.

Dana and I were surprised to hear the word ‘reject’. That word hurts even when it’s not you who’s being referred to.

“Well, I’m going to get my things ready... for us to travel again,” Dana says without enthusiasm and leaves as well.

A few seconds pass.

When Nige said he would reject her, I thought it was bullshit. But seeing him say that to her in front of me... that’s another thing.

He gets closer to me, “Lexi...” I don’t look at him. I keep looking at the box with money. He takes another step towards me, “Can’t you see? This is our future. We will be the future Alpha and Luna of the new pack...”

I stop listening to what he is saying because I hear someone approaching. His wonderful scent arrives before he does, and I immediately know who has come.

My Prince.

I look at the door just as he enters the office. He enters with a smile when he sees me, and then he looks at my hands intertwined with Nige’s.

I didn’t even see that happening.

Prince’s smile drops immediately. He looks sad when his eyes meet mine not long after, and I feel a pang of pain when I see in him a mirror of my reaction because that’s exactly how I felt when I saw him with Lucy.

Then he frowns in a way I hadn’t seen before. I try to jerk my hands away from Nige, but he holds me tight. I look at him, and he has a smirk, looking at Prince.

When I look at Prince, he comes to us in a totally different way.

Different from the sweet and affectionate way he always is.

He walks towards us like a predator, as if he were the most powerful wolf in the world. He doesn’t let go of my hand from Nige’s.

No.

He squeezes Nige’s wrist with one hand so hard that Nige begins to curse in pain.

Nige immediately lets go of my hand, “What’s wrong with him?” he yells at Prince. Then he turns to me, “Wait. Why is he so strong if he’s a human?” Nige looks at me suspiciously.

I don’t respond because Prince simply puts his arm possessively on my shoulder and starts to take me away.

Tyra howls in my mind at his possessiveness. She looks like she’s in heat for Prince.

I don’t answer Nige, but I look at him angrily before leaving the office, stopping him with just my eyes from coming after us.

Prince leads me directly to my room, and I go the entire way obediently, trying not to smile triumphantly.

I look at him, and he doesn’t have harsh eyes anymore. He looks at peace just because he’s not close to Nige anymore.

The passage through the cave corridors barely fits two people, so he pulls me closer to him and puts his hand on my waist as we walk.

I can’t help but notice that the same way his hand was on my shoulder, now he also has a firm grip on my waist. Possessively. As if I were *his*.

Butterflies party in my stomach.

As soon as we get to my room, I put both my hands on Prince’s shoulder. I rise on my tiptoes and bring my nose up to him. Then, I start sniffing his neck. Nothing here but his wonderful smell.

I smell his hair. He looks at me confused but turns his face to the side, letting me do whatever I want.

His hair is a little tangled by the wind but still soft — nothing here either.

I go behind him and smell his back. There’s nothing here.

I keep smelling his big muscular biceps under his borrowed Letum clothes.

Yes! It’s here! Here’s that bitch’s stinky smell.

She held him here. She touched him. Fuck. I hate this bitch.

My body heats up with my anger, I immediately mindlink to Letum, holding Prince’s hand, ‘How was the hunt?’ I ask, trying to be subtle.

Letum takes a while to respond, ‘I’m bathing,’ his voice is amused. ‘Right now, you must have already smelled him all over, so you must have noticed that I didn’t let her touch him at all.’

I like Letum because he gets straight to the point. However, he is lying; when I don’t respond, he continues, ‘Except when she arrived. She held him by the arm to ‘guide’ him, but then I took her away from him when I tasked her to hunt.’

I don’t know whether to be happy that he did it without me asking him anything or embarrassed that he knew exactly what I wanted to know even before I had to ask him.

‘I’ll let you finish your shower because I smell your stench from here,’ I respond, smiling.

Prince starts playing with my braid. Everywhere his hands touch, I feel sparks that I shouldn’t feel.

I bite my bottom lip. His lips are so close to mine. At a short distance, I could just—

‘Lexi, come here to the cave entrance. You’re going to want to hear this,’ Dana mindlinks me.

Fuck, what happened now?

I sigh and go to her; immediately, Prince follows behind me, trying to keep up with my angry steps.

Can’t I have a single moment alone with him? Fuck my life.

I walk quickly, but I notice Lucy in the corner of the cave, sitting with Rose, talking. They both look at me angrily and then stop talking, but I’m sure they’re talking via mindlink.

I continue walking without paying attention to them; as soon as I turn the last corridor and arrive at the entrance, I see Dana sitting on the floor next to her great aunt, who is sitting on a small bench made of stone; they both look at me and to Prince behind me.

“Wherever she goes, he follows, Auntie,” Dana teases me and gets up. The old lady laughs at Dana.

“Well, I was here saying goodbye to her and delivering my message to my beautiful mate until my aunt told me something funny—”

“Dana, don’t worry! As soon as I can, I’ll let Letum come back with you so you can see her. You won’t stay away from her for so long again. I promise you!” I interrupt her. I know how sad she is and how she is always holding back tears because of it.

Her eyes meet mine, “I know... thank you, Lexi,” she says with a short nod, “you know what? I’ll let you talk! I go finish packing my backpack,” she says and leaves before tears fall from her eyes.

I wanted to tell her to stay, but I knew she’d rather go.

I rest my back against the wall where Dana was previously, and Prince is right next to me.

Dana’s great-aunt doesn’t talk much and has isolated herself a lot since her fated mate died. She’s thinner than I saw her last time; her hair is curly like Dana’s, but hers is white.

Despite talking to me, she continues looking outside the cave with a vacant gaze, admiring the lifeless winter landscape and the melting snow, “I remember her,” she starts to say. “Sandy was a good woman. I know you must feel empty losing your Protector, just like I feel after losing my fated mate,” her eyes meet mine.

I hate talking about Sandy. But somehow, the way she talks doesn’t bother me like it does when other people talk. It’s as if she understood all my grief just from my eyes. My emptiness of losing someone I shared a piece of my soul with, even though she wasn’t my fated mate like in her case.

I don’t say anything back, and she goes back to looking at the landscape in front of us, ‘Dana told me about the new place,’ she mindlinks me.

Fuck you, Dana. It was supposed to be a secret, but as always, she says more than she fucking should. I don’t voice my thoughts, but by the look on my face, it looks like she got it. ‘Don’t be mad at her,’ she continues. ‘I remember when she was buried. I remember your misery, sobbing over and over for the Goddess Selena to bring her back.’

*Please, Moon Goddess, bring her back to me, don’t let her die, I beg you!*

I still can listen to my begs. I will never forget that day.

‘At the time, you were too sad for us to tell you, but that place where you chose to bury your Protector meant more than you imagined.’

“What do you mean?” I turn to her and snap instead of mindlink.

However, she answers me via mindlink, ‘Everyone was looking for that place, and no one had ever met anyone who had already found it. But the story of the three sacred seeds was well known since I was a little girl.’

My brow furrows, and she continues via mindlink, ‘No one knows who planted them, but everyone does know that three different sacred seeds were planted. Each one had its own power. One that heals. One that purifies. One that grants desires,’ I look at her in disbelief and scoff, but she gives me a knowing smile with her wise face, and I feel like a child when she continues. ‘When you chose where you wanted to bury your Protector, you said you wanted to bury her in the most beautiful tree you had found. Until then, the tree was not even half your height, and you were not the tall woman you are today,’ I continue to pay close attention. ‘However, when we arrived at the place, those who knew the story began to wonder if that place was not the place everyone was looking for because the purity of the air in the place was too pure to be a random place.’

‘What do you mean by that?’ I ask impatiently. ‘And why didn’t anyone stay there since it was something so sacred?’

‘At the time, our pack was rich and full of life; there was no need for us to change territories like now. And you made it clear that you didn’t want to go back there, young lady,’ she says with a hint of a smile. ‘Since childhood, you have always been so *assertive*. Well, you’re an Alpha female, aren’t you?’

I don’t answer, I keep thinking about what she just told me, ‘It was just a tale, right? If it were true, the damn little tree would have granted my wish, and she would be alive,’ I say dismissively.

She doesn’t respond, neither via mindlink nor with her mouth.

We remained silent for a while, the three of us admiring the landscape in front of us with the wind making noise.

‘I also think it was a sign from the Goddess herself,’ the old woman snaps me out of my confused thoughts.

I go to answer her, but Lucy appears with Rose at the cave entrance, “Alpha, I decided I want to go with you on your next trip,” Lucy says.

Rose’s smile doesn’t go unnoticed, “No.” I say, looking back at the landscape before me, ignoring the two.

“Please, Alpha, I *really* need to go with you,” Lucy comes to me and stands in front of me, trying to stop me from seeing the view and paying attention to her, but she’s shorter than me.

I frown at her before demanding, “Need to? Why do you need to go?” I cross my arms.

“My fated mate died...” she says, looking away. I can feel her sadness exuding from her. “So I decided to choose someone to be my mate,” she raises her face and looks at Prince next to me, “I want him!” Lucy hurriedly says with a smile at him, barely containing herself with happiness and anticipation.
