Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 178: Book 2 - Chapter 11

After almost two days of exhausting walking without stopping, using almost every hidden path possible, I finally decided that it was time to stop.

Dana and Letum are already used to my pace, but Prince is more than exhausted. Despite the initial shock of the route I chose, as they know it is not what I would typically choose, they follow obediently without further complaints.

It’s been almost two days since we took a break to eat. We just ate fruit that we found along the way, still walking, but it didn’t satisfy our hunger.

I chose one of the caves we had stayed in previously. It is a tiny cave, but well hidden and with a river in front, perfect for camouflaging our smell.

As soon as we enter the cave, they throw their backpack on the floor, and I don’t even need to call Prince to stay by my side. He automatically sits on the floor right next to me and rests his back against the wall, panting.

‘I’m going to get some water from the river for us to drink,’ Letum mindlinks me.

‘Dana, get something so we can start a fire,’ I mindlink her when I see Prince’s hands freezing.

The two leave the cave, and I hold Prince’s big hands in mine to keep him warm.

“Does that feel good?” I ask, wincing as I hear those words escape my lips. Do I even know how to be non-sexual?

Apparently not.

He doesn’t answer, but I watch as he melts by my side, looking relaxed.

I rest my face on his broad shoulder. He pulls me closer and starts gently stroking my face with his fingertips.

Dana enters the cave, and I leave Prince’s side to help her.

“Kyrie is going to be so happy to hear the news,” she says as she arranges the kindling for the fire with me.

“I have to thank her for something she told me,” I look toward Prince, shaking my head. This is the second time he has tried to help, and I’ve denied it.

He returns to sit where he was, “You know... It’s my dream to give her a home. My mate has been through so much pain...” Dana says emotionally, seemingly at a loss for words.

‘I wonder if maybe she’d rather be someone else’s mate...’ she mindlinks me, clearly too difficult for her to say aloud or for Letum not to hear. ‘Maybe a male... Maybe a male who already had a pack with territory and wouldn’t make her go through any more suffering.’

I stop what I’m doing and look into her eyes. ‘Dana, she couldn’t have a better mate than you. You dedicate your life to her. She loves you,’ I say firmly through mindlink, and she nods and hugs me. I’m not much of a hugger, but I hug her back. ‘Everything will be fine. Soon, all this suffering will just be a memory. With gray hair, you will live happily for more than 150 years together.’

She chuckled, “It’s my biggest dream to grow old with her.”

“And you will accomplish it,” Letum enters the cave, carrying a bow with water. Letum can’t stand many people, and he is reticent. When he doesn’t like someone, which is almost everyone, he doesn’t even spare his words. However, as much as he doesn’t admit it, he cares about Dana.

Dana smiles and then continues what we were doing while wiping the tears from her eyes, “you should mind your own business, Letum,” she says and sticks her tongue out at Letum, taking the bow from his hand. He rolls his eyes and sits down near Prince.

“Let’s get some rest, and then we’ll head out,” they all nod.

It didn’t take long, and they were sleeping. I stayed with the first watch again. Once again, Prince was by my side with his hand around me as if he were protecting me.

If anyone needs protection here, it’s you, Prince.

Protection even from *me*.

🐺 🐺 🐺

It was just a few hours of rest. I didn’t have the opportunity to take a nap because I wanted us to get there as quickly as possible, and that’s the fact that Dana was crying and having nightmares once again because she was away from her mate.

This just gave me reasons to go even faster. I can’t see her like that, and by Letum’s face, who this time didn’t lay next to her, probably afraid of her reaction the next day, was either.

Despite sleep deprivation, my senses are more than on alert.

I feel something is off, and I immediately put my arm in front of Prince to stop him from taking another step forward. After leaving the cave, we continued on our way, and now we are in a place where I know rogues can be nearby.

‘I felt something,’ I mindlink them both at the same time.

‘I didn’t feel anything. You barely slept, it could be your sleep deprivation. It would help if you had more sleep, Lexi,’ Dana responds, looking everywhere as she continues walking quickly.

‘Let’s go quickly. If we stay here, they’ll find us,’ Letum says. The sun is almost rising, but it is already light around us.

‘They’re already here!’ I warn them.

There’s no way I can’t be paranoid when every time I expect the worst, it ends up happening. That must be exactly why I’m crazy.

Only I know the weight I carry for not being paranoid, for not having been more careful, for having let my guard down. But this will never happen again. I will never let their fate be the same as hers...

I sense the presence of at least four rogues... No. Six! Wait... Eight? With three more approaching.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

There’s nowhere around to hide, and there won’t even be time.

‘Let’s go near that mountain,’ I point to the mountain, and Letum and Dana run to the place, still looking everywhere.

As soon as we got close, they all put their backpacks on the ground.

‘What are we going to do now? They’re so many!’ Dana responds, searching for any threat around us. I put Prince behind me, he tries to stay next to me, and I push him back hard again.

‘I felt nine rogues,’ Letum responds.

‘More.’ I mindlink them. They look at me in surprise and look around again, expecting any attack.

Fuck, we shouldn’t have come this way, I should have taken the safer route.

‘You can’t shift, Lexi. If we lose the fight, they might take you to Bloodmoon,’ Dana mindlinks us. ‘What will we do?’

‘I said I will defend you, and I will,’ I respond firmly and then look back. ‘Protect Prince!’

‘Yes, Alpha,’ they respond without hesitation.

‘Tyra felt eleven. Don’t panic! Stay focused,’ I inform her. ‘Dana, switch places with Letum,’ they obey. ‘Dana, two are on your side. Letum, three are coming to your side. Shift now!’

At my command, they take off their clothes and immediately shift. I do the same, but the difference is that while they wait for the threat, I start attacking the three wolves coming straight at me.

Oh, it’s always like that. First, they are always startled when they see Tyra’s vibrant color, and then they are scared by her size. Still, they recover and start attacking.

Honestly, even though my main goal is to protect them, I like fighting.

Tyra climbs onto a big rock in front of us to jump onto them. Their stench takes over her senses. These rogues are stronger than the last ones.

One of them almost stands up to stop her attack, but Tyra uses her claws on the rogue’s face until she sees blood coming out of him while she kicks another with her back leg and bites another with her ferocious fangs.

She looks like a beast. She destroys all three and leaves with just some injuries on her paws, but nothing that she can’t heal later.

I help Letum’s gray wolf kill the two rogues that are close to him, much bigger than the ones close to Dana, but as soon as I kill one of them, I look to the side and see two much bigger rogues heading towards Prince.

Fuck!

Fury runs through my veins instead of blood. Tyra uses her front paws to break the bones in the rogue’s spine. She stomps on his head without mercy.

She growls as the other rogue sinks his claws into her. As she shakes her body for the rogue to leave, she can see Prince frozen, watching us. Again, the smell of his fear reaches us, standing out the rotten stench of the rogues.

As soon as she finds an opening, Tyra bites the top of the rogue’s head, piercing his eyes. He growls and twitches, but it’s too late.

I like this. The power and control over a situation. The weight of another rogue’s shitty life in my hands. Or paws.

But the most important thing is to kill them soon, and so I hurry. We cannot leave survivors. Survivors seek revenge.

‘Letum, stay alert. Another rogue will appear at your side,’ I mindlink him. ‘Dana, two more are coming at you,’ she hasn’t even killed the ones she’s fighting yet.

Fuck, I thought it was eleven, we’ve already killed almost nine, but I feel like six more are coming.

They are already so exhausted.

As soon as I spot another rogue, Tyra attacks him as viciously as the others.

However, despite managing to contain the rogue that is now beneath me, three other rogues jump on Tyra at the same time. Each one bites her and digs in their sharp, filthy claws.

Dana and Letum can’t help me because each of them is fighting with the rogues that I warned them about. My sense is much sharper than theirs, not only because I’m an Alpha but also because Tyra is a red wolf.

Tyra writhes in pain and growls as she tries to free herself from them, but unlike her, they are not fighting tired.

I start to get scared because it’s taking too long for her to let go, but what scares me more is seeing Prince running towards us. Fuck, Prince! *No*!

From the corner of my eye, I see Prince trying to pull one of the rogues off me. His huge arms pull the stinking wolf with all his might, which bites him in the process.

However, Prince pulls harder, and the rogue gives way, falling away with the throw Prince makes with his body. Prince falls back with the force of his movement, and the smell of his blood reaches Tyra’s nose.

Tyra’s teeth grind in anger at Prince’s intrusion. Is he crazy? He will end up dying!

Tyra uses all this anger to bite the neck of one of the rogues, who still has their paws on her. She bites so deep I can feel the bone in his neck crack. Then, with a single bite, she pierces the belly of the other rogue who was on top of her, causing his insides to fall to the ground. Tyra kills him quickly just because there is another motherfucker on the loose.

Before the other rogue attacks Prince, she jumps on top of the motherfucker. He kicks and barks, trying to get out from under her weight, but in vain.

She cruelly attacks with her paws and bites every part of the rogue with her fangs to make him suffer before the final blow.

‘Nobody touches what’s mine,’ Tyra barks and bites the rogue’s jaw so hard it rips the rogue’s jaw apart.

When I no longer feel any threat around us, I immediately shift and, still naked, run towards Prince. I grip the collar of Prince’s sweatshirt in my hands tightly and growl at him, “Do you want to die? Are you crazy? Don’t you ever do that again! Don’t you ever do that again–”

Letum and Dana try to free me because I’m hitting Prince. I didn’t even see the time they shifted, much less the time I started punching him in the chest. He looks at me scared but doesn’t defend himself.

“Alexa, you’re hurting him!” Dana says as she tries to break my grip around him, still I shove at his chest.

“Fuck! He almost died! All it takes for him to die is for a rogue to knock his head off, and that’s it. That’s it!” I keep attacking Prince. “I can’t cure you if that happens! Don’t ever do that again, do you understand me?” I use my Alpha aura with him, and his dark blue eyes squint in pain for continuing to look at me. I look at the blood around his arm, where the rogue bit him. I can’t think straight, just the fear of losing him. “You’re so fucking stupid! Don’t do that again! Never again! I don’t need you to defend me! You’re the one who needs protection!” I push him with both my hands at the same time, and he staggers back.

“Alpha, it’s done! Like you said, he doesn’t know what he was doing,” Letum tries to calm me down. I try to breathe deeply to calm myself down, but nothing seems to work.

Dana pulls me back at the same time as Letum, and I end up distancing myself from Prince, but my eyes continue to stare at him angrily. However, he approaches me, still feeling the agony of my Alpha aura and probably the pain of my punches in his chest.

He holds my face in his huge, cold hands and does something that takes me by surprise.

He kisses me.
