'Kaiden, you need to get to the packhouse immediately. We've received information that the pack is about to be invaded,' Chad mindlinks me again, his voice strained.

Without wasting a second, Troy runs even faster and heads straight for the packhouse. My senses are on high alert, my thoughts consumed with the safety of my pack.

I arrive at the packhouse before everyone else, but not long after I shift and put on shorts, Chad arrives in the car.

His face is etched with tension as I approach him rapidly, demanding answers, "What's going on, Chad? Where's the threat?"

Chad hesitates, the words seeming to stick in his throat. "I...I'm not entirely sure, Kaiden. The information was sketchy, but I wanted to alert you as soon as possible."

I frown, my patience waning, "Sketchy? What the fuck, Chad?"

Chad hesitates again and then finally admits, "Kaiden, I have to be honest with you. This might have been a false alarm."

My anger flares, confusion mixing with it. "A false alarm? Are you kidding me, Chad? You had me drop everything for a false alarm?"

Chad's eyes shift away, and he mumbles something barely audible.

"What was that?" I demand, my frustration growing.

He finally meets my gaze, his eyes filled with a mixture of regret and something else, something that resembles jealousy. "I...I... Nothing, it was a mistake. When I saw you and Katie... I... I thought..." he left the words hanging in the air without finishing, but it was enough for me to understand him.

My anger flares even more. Trusting Chad with my life, only to have him pull a stunt like this out of jealousy, is infuriating. "Chad, you can't play games with the safety of our pack. This is unacceptable. You're the fucking Gama!"

I take a step closer, my tone stern and commanding. "You put our entire pack at risk because of some misguided jealousy? This is fucking unacceptable!"

Chad swallows hard, finally realizing the gravity of his actions. "Yes, Alpha. I'm sorry." He said, submitting.

My gaze is steely, a clear message that such recklessness won't be tolerated. The safety of our pack is paramount, and it's a responsibility I won't allow to be compromised.

As the truth sinks in, I can't help but feel a rift growing between us. My priorities are crystal clear – protecting my pack and my bond with Katie. I'll have to make it abundantly clear to Chad where the boundaries lie.

I go into the packhouse to take a shower and try to calm down, and I realize that he left in his car.

Chad is my Gama. This type of situation should never happen, and what infuriates me the most is knowing that I was with my mate and he messed everything up for nothing.

Troy is uncontrollable and doesn't trust Chad anymore, and I'm just starting to doubt him like Troy.

"Kaiden?" Katie opens the door, with a surprised face to see me.

As soon as I got out of the shower, I couldn't take it anymore and came to her house, I need her to calm me down. The shower wasn't enough to make me calm like she does.

She makes room for me to enter, I enter, and she closes the door, and then she holds my hand and guides me to the living room.

"Jason told me it was a false alarm," she says as she sits on the couch.

Just by holding her hand and being in her presence, I start to feel Troy calming down.

"I'm going to remove Chad as Gama," I snap as I sit next to her but rest my elbows on my knees. She holds my hand.

"What? No! You can't do that to him," she defends the fucker, and I can't control myself, and I look at her angrily for daring to defend him.

"It's the best thing to do, him seeing us daily will only make the situation worse," I don't know how much Jason said, but I don't tell her all the details.

"No one's going to get hurt," I reassure her as I try to remain calm.

"He's going to get hurt... Think more calmly. Chad is a great Gamma, he just needs time for everything to adjust..." she says softly, and I look at her. I can't see her defending him.

Fuck.

"Stay out of this, Katie!"

But she doesn't back down. Instead, she stands her ground, her gaze unwavering. "No, you're not being fair," Katie's voice slices through the room, her words hitting me like an unexpected blow.

I can feel my temper flare, my jaw clenching with the effort to maintain control.

The room feels smaller, the air thick with unspoken words and simmering emotions. I take a step closer to Katie, my chest heaving as I struggle to find the right words. The tension hangs between us, a volatile mix of anger, frustration, and desire.

In a moment of instinct, I reach out and pull her into a searing kiss, our lips crashing with a fierce intensity. It's a desperate attempt to bridge the gap.

For a heartbeat, the world falls away, and all that exists is the raw passion of our kiss. The room falls into a hushed silence, the charged atmosphere dissolving with the touch of our mouths.

As we pull apart, our eyes lock, and in that shared gaze, the words are replaced with a fragile understanding, but the tension remains.

I totally forgot what we were fighting about.

I don't give a shit.

I can't resist her anymore, and apparently, neither can she because she kisses me back, and without releasing the kiss, she guides me to another room in her house.

Her sweet scent gets stronger, and soon I realize that she is taking me to her room.

That's it! Finally, I will have her for myself.

I'm going to mark her neck so everyone can see that she *belongs* just to me.
