After Laila revealed that she knew about my arrangement with Kaiden, I needed at least an hour to calm my racing heart.

I had already forgotten about that completely. I'm sure that now Kaiden shouldn't even think about this contract anymore, especially after he found out about our baby.

But the fact that the pack members could discover this...

I don't want to disappoint them. They accepted me with open arms. They were always so kind to me...

I don't want them to find out. But I also don't want to have to do whatever Laila asks me to do.

I don't know how I'm going to solve this, but I'm going to wait until I see what her next step will be.

I thought about telling Jake, but if I tell him, he'll tell Jay, who will tell Kaiden. I know Kaiden too well, if he finds out that she is threatening me, he will end up killing her.

I don't want to have her death on my conscience or on his.

No more deaths. I can't stand seeing death around me anymore.

I leave my room after washing my face and immediately come face to face with Isabel, leaning against the wall opposite my bedroom door, with her arms crossed as if she had been waiting for me.

I get a little scared and put my hand on my heart, "Ahhh, you scared me," I say, and she doesn't respond at all, but I see the corner of her mouth lift with a small smile.

"What will you do now?" she asks me with an arched eyebrow as if she were challenging me.

I try to think of something. I need to distract myself to get the problem with Laila out of my head, it's not healthy for the baby.

"Uhm, I... I'm going to check if there's enough food in the pantry for everyone–"

"The Omegas have already done this," she cuts me off.

"Okay," I try to think of something else as I walk toward my baby's room. There isn't much tidiness yet because I decided to make up everything in his room calmly, "hmm, I'm going to set up some things here, maybe assemble," I say when I see her following me quickly into the room.

There are several boxes of things that Kaiden and I bought, the furniture is not assembled yet, but there is an armchair in the room near the window.

I go towards one of the boxes, but Isabel stops me by standing in front of the box.

"What are you doing?" I ask her.

"I think you should leave that to someone who knows what they're doing," she says with a straight face.

Oh my goddess, now I can't even touch my own baby's things.

I start to question my life choices, I could have stayed in my apartment, I would be doing these little things without anyone bothering me or stopping me.

Secretly, I hope her pillow will warm on both sides when she flips it tonight.

I take a deep breath and start opening some packages of things that are on top of the boxes. Isabel stays glued to my side and doesn't even let me breathe alone the entire time.

She stays in an attack position, looking at the door as if she was waiting for someone to show up and kill us. In some ways, she reminds me of Kaiden.

"Well, I think I'll go to my apartment and get the last boxes that are there–"

"You're supposed to stay here at the packhouse," she cuts me off.

"I can come and go as I please, Isabel," I say firmly, even though I look up at her and I feel intimidated by her, "besides, I need my things, since you don't want me to leave here, are you going to get them for me?" I yell at her.

Isabel lessens her stern gaze and responds with a slight nod.

I immediately regret yelling. I hate having to scream to be heard.

I take the key to my apartment out of my pocket, "the boxes are already sealed. They are in my room," she takes the keys in my hand and leaves the room.

Phew, at least I won't have her around for a few minutes.

As soon as she leaves me alone in the room, I take a deep breath and sit down in the armchair; I drag one of the boxes that Isabel stopped me from opening and start to unpack the things inside.

A few minutes later, Dean appears at the bedroom door, "Hey Luna, have you seen Isabel?" he asks as he finishes adjusting the t-shirt over his large chest. He must have just shifted.

"Hi, Dean," I smile at him, "hmm, she left not long ago; she went to my apartment to get some boxes," I inform him.

"I'll go to her then and help her bring it," he proposes.

"Well, I don't think it's necessary, there aren't many boxes left–"

"I insist!" he says politely, "I'll help her with whatever she needs."

"Hmm... Okay then. Thanks," I reply, and he gives me a curt nod before leaving.

After rummaging through several boxes, I decide to take a nap, as my back and legs are killing me. I never imagined I would feel so tired and so sore while pregnant.

I look at the clock next to the bed and see that I've slept for a good few hours. I get up and rub my eyes as I head towards the kitchen. I am so hungry.

As soon as I appear in the kitchen, Jude comes towards me with a sandwich, "you need to eat," she says as she strokes my belly.

I accept and take a bite, "Wow, this is so delicious. Thank you, Jude," I say thank you.

"Luna, Alpha arrived not long ago; he was looking for you. I said you were sleeping, so he went to his office," Callie informs me with a drink in her hand; I can smell the alcohol. It's so early, and they're already drinking.

I look at her drink and raise an eyebrow, "Hey, it's to celebrate our new home," she responds with a contagious smile, and I smile back, even though I know they come up with any reason to drink.

During the renovation, they had to drink to celebrate that *everything was going well* or that *the way the day was productive*, I think that because it is so difficult for them to get drunk, they don't care so much about it.

I shake my head, still laughing and head towards Kaiden's office with my sandwich in hand.

As soon as I turn the corner of the hallway, I see Laila fixing her cleavage; she looks at me and shakes her index finger back and forth with a smirk.

I stop immediately, stunned by her command, I even stop chewing the piece of sandwich in my mouth.

Then, she sways her hips exaggeratedly as she enters Kaiden's office.

I swallow the contents of my mouth with difficulty, suddenly losing all hunger.

I turn around and get out of there, I don't want to hear what she's going to say to Kaiden, and I don't want to hear what she will ask me, I don't want to do anything for her.

I start the car and go straight to Will's boutique, where Maia is.

I know Kaiden wouldn't betray me, but I can't help but feel insecure. Laila is so beautiful... and she has her wolf. I don't want to see or hear them together.

For Kaiden, I'm just a human, and it needs to stay that way if I want to protect my pack.

As soon as I enter the store, I realize I'm crying because Maia comes towards me and hugs me, "What happened?" she asks worriedly.

I tell her about Laila and the contract while I cry, thankfully the boutique is empty, I don't know if I could hold back my emotions any longer. Will is nowhere to be seen.

After a few moments, and Maia promising to keep me a secret, I calm down. Will arrives, and the three of us talk.

I don't even see the time to pass when I realize it's already night. Maia is getting ready to leave, and I'm standing at the door waiting for her.

Suddenly, I see Mark coming out of a store next to the boutique, and I wave to him, "Hey Mark, how are you?" I ask, and he comes to me and hugs me friendly.

However, he suddenly lets me go abruptly, and I look to the side, confused, until I see Kaiden looking furious at him.

"What the fuck is going on here?" he snarls.
