By this time in my life, I should have gotten used to being human. I should have already accepted my fate. However, why am I still reluctant to this idea? It seems like I love to constantly beat myself up over something that won't change.

Today, the day at the hospital was basically the same as every other day, not that each patient has the same problem as another patient the day before, but the feeling is that I'm managing to deal better with my gift. Before, I was worried about which time to use it, but with each day that passes by, I am discovering the best way to help patients.

I'm a nervous wreck because, once again, I'm here at the packhouse. I'm with Jason and Chad, waiting for Kaiden so we can talk.

After the opening ceremony yesterday, I went home with Jake. Kaiden disappeared and didn't seem to mind saying goodbye. Chad wanted to go to my place, but that would raise much suspicion, so I said goodbye to him at the party.

I still don't know how to deal with our new relationship. I need to be honest with Chad and honor his feelings for me. But how do I change my feelings for Kaiden?

He asked me to come over after work at the packhouse because we need to talk. I'm still mad at him, but we really need to talk. I accepted the contract publicly, so now there is no turning back. I need to bear the consequences.

It's been almost 20 minutes since we've been waiting for Kaiden, and he still hasn't shown up. Jason has made several jokes, and then he has fought with Chad at least three times. Chad's been holding my hand since I got here, but he's different, something seems to be bothering him. I can't understand what it is, but he looks sad. After this conversation with Kaiden, I'm going to talk to him to see if he's okay.

"Finally, you showed up!" Jason spoke towards the door, Kaiden walked into the room, and immediately Chad let go of my hand. That's weird.

"I need to talk to Katie in private." He spoke coldly, and Jason and Chad looked at each other and then looked at me.

"That's fine," I replied, and they nodded and left the room, Chad exited last and closed the door with one last look at me.

Now that we're alone, it seems more difficult to breathe. The wind in the place appears stagnant, and all I can do is wait to be attacked.

That's the feeling of being in a room alone with Kaiden.

I waited for him to start talking, but he didn't say anything for a few minutes that felt like forever.

"So, what would you like to talk about?" I asked. Someone has to break this awkward silence. But he was silent for a while longer, it seemed he was choosing the words to speak, or he was simply wanting to make me more distressed.

"Calm down, little squirrel. I can hear your heartbeat from here. You're going to have a heart attack like that," he said, and I got even more nervous. Sometimes, I forget about the wolf's senses. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down a bit, but it didn't make much difference, which made me even more nervous.

Ugh. *Why does he always have to call me an animal*, by the way?

"After you were seen with me yesterday at the ceremony, now there's no way you can go back," he said coldly.

I took a deep breath to calm myself down. I looked at him, and he had tense muscles. He's wearing basic black clothes that they usually wear after shift, and his hair is a little tousled, which makes him even sexier. What am I thinking? These thoughts were not helping me!

"Yes, er... Okay," I said. What kind of response was that? Why do I always have to look stupid when I'm talking to him? *Someone stabs me, please*!

"Although I'm against it and think it's all a waste of time, we need to be seen together for people to believe it," he said, and I pressed my lips together. Wait. Waste of time? It's so easy not to like him now.

"You can decide the location, I don't care. Is that all you wanted to talk about?" I can't believe he called me here for that, he should have just sent a message. I didn't need to see him. I don't want to see him. That makes everything more difficult.

"You're always there for me, aren't you?" he asked with a smirk.

"I commit to everything I do. That's the only reason. In fact, I can't wait for this to be over so I can publicly get back together with Chad," I replied, crossing my arms. He looked at me coldly, and I almost flinched in fear.

"If you were so willing to date Chad publicly, then why did you stop? Why did you decide to help me? Your actions say otherwise. But haven't you said now that you're committed to everything you do? Shouldn't you be more committed to Chad instead of leaving his relationship to be on my side? Your actions don't match your speech," while he was talking, more and more, my mouth was opened in an 'o' shape, and my cheeks turned so red I felt my whole face on fire.

What do I answer? Not only did he use what I said against me, but he also made sure to humiliate me in the process.

"Just let me know in advance," I grabbed my bag, got up, and headed towards the door, fuming angrily as he smirked. When I put my hand on the doorknob, he cut me off with a cold voice, sounding more like a command.

"5 am be here. We will train together," I just looked at him to confirm that I heard what he said, and I opened the door in a hurry and left with quick steps, but I could still hear him talking in the room.

"Slow down, little scared squirrel, you'll end up falling," he said with a mischievous tone as he chuckled.

Why do I have to let him get inside my head every time and take up residence inside it? I just wish he didn't know how much he affects me. I just walked out of there feeling embarrassed of what he said and my reaction.
