Kaiden's furious eyes stare at Chad as his hand tightens around his throat.

He must have loosened his grip because Jay stopped blocking him.

"Do not make me ask you again, motherfucker. What did you fucking do?" tears run down Chad's cheeks.

*Pathetic asshole*.

"I-I didn't-" Chad tries to answer, but Kaiden squeezes him harder, and Chad wheezes.

He's lying! I know this, Kaiden knows this, Jason knows this.

I can't believe he's still lying.

"If you lie to me again, I will snap your aunt's neck, and then you'll have a hell of a job trying to assemble all the pieces of her body to bury her when I'm done. Now tell me the truth."

"I-I didn't mean anything–"

"That's not what I asked you," one of Kaiden's hands punches Chad in his face.

Chad looks at Jay and then at me like he's asking for help. If he really thinks we're going to help him right now, he'll have another thing coming.

Chad's aunt is the only family he has in the pack. He knows that every second he takes to respond, she runs the risk of meeting the fate that Kaiden is promising him.

"I just wanted her to c-c-choose me," Chad whimpers. "I swear! I didn't know it would get to this point."

Now we're getting somewhere.

"What do you mean?"

"The kidnapping! I didn't know it would come to this! I didn't know they would take her."

"They?" Kaiden screams and punches Chad twice in his bloodied face, and more blood starts to come out of his nose.

"When I was investigating Becca's mate's attack, I found out that even though he died, his rogue group that didn't attack the pack was still together," Chad begins to explain, "I went after them to gather information and see if they were planning new attacks, but they weren't. They are rogues, they don't care who dies among them. And then..."

With Chad's silence, this time, it's my mate who pressures him. Jay punches Chad in the face to get him to continue.

"I met them and asked them to help me..." Chad immediately confesses.

"Help with what?" Kaiden growls at him.

"You need to understand, Kaiden, before you showed up, Katie and I were happy! I was going to mark her, and she was *my* chosen mate. You ruined everything!" Chad tries to justify himself.

"She's mine!" Kaiden shouts, getting even closer to Chad's bloodied face. "Mine! *My* fated mate!"

"You didn't mark her!" Chad retorts.

Kaiden tightens his grip on his throat, and Chad tries to break free, "You didn't mark her, so I thought if maybe the rogues helped me get her out of the pack, we could be a couple again," Chad finally tells the truth, "Katie and I could go to another pack and go back to being happy like we were before. I know she still has feelings for me. You didn't mark her, she could still be mine!"

Goddess help us.

I can't believe what I'm hearing.

I can't believe Chad's reason. How could he?!

I trusted him, I accepted him living with us! Was he plotting this whole time to disappear with Katie?

"Where is she?" Kaiden growls at him. "Where is she, you motherfucker?"

"I don't know!" Chad whimpers, "I didn't know this was going to happen! They were supposed to break in, and I would take Katie and run away with her for her safety, and then, when we got to another pack, I would explain everything to her, but they took Katie! It wasn't for them to touch her! This wasn't supposed to happen!"

"Where is she, Chad? And you got about five seconds before your neck snaps under my hand."

"I know who took her, but I don't know where she is," he blurts out, glancing at Kaiden. "I swear!"

Kaiden lifts his hands off Chad's throat, and he sits.

"Do not fucking move!" he warns him.

Chad rubs at his raw skin and nods his understanding.

"So you mean you planned all this, and the fucking rogues betrayed you? And now you don't know where my mate is?" Kaiden imposes behind Chad.

"No. Yes, but I swear to you, I would never put Katie in danger! I couldn't live with that!" Chad says.

Grabbing Chad by the hair, Kaiden yanks his head back and grabs his wrist, twisting his arm behind his back until we listen to the satisfying pop of his shoulder dislocating.

Chad's agonized scream makes Kaiden grin menacingly.

Kaiden shoves him, and he drops to the floor. "Of course, you couldn't live with that

because I would kill you!"

The fucker struggles to sit up, his arm dangling at an unnatural angle.

"You ever touch her again, and I will tear your limbs from your fucking body and wrap them around your throat!" Kaiden says firmly, with a cold voice. "I just won't kill you right now because I need to find my mate first," he promises Chad.

He just bought himself a reprieve.

"I d-don't know where she is," Chad stammers.

"Someone has taken my mate, and right now, you're the only man I know who can find her. But if you don't cooperate, Chad"-Kaiden takes a threatening step forward toward him-"I will make you watch while I murder your aunt, and then it'll be your turn."

Kaiden remains silent and turns his back to Chad while placing his hand on the bridge of his nose. "I can't believe you did that, Chad... You're my brother!"

Chad stays silent, Jay comes to me and holds my hand.

"She is..." Kaiden tries to speak but stops for some time and then continues again. "She's pregnant! My mate was kidnapped, and she's pregnant!"

"What?" Chad, Jay and I yell at the same time.

Is Katie pregnant?!

"Dean told me that before she died, Chloe told him to let me know that she felt Katie's scent change," he explains. "She was trying to save Chloe's life,

she stayed ahead of Chloe while the rogues attacked," Chad closes his eyes and lowers his head when he hears Kaiden's words.

"She smelled Katie before they took her, and she was only alive long enough until Dean arrived, and then, she told him. Chloe is dead, as well as some students, teachers and patients from the hospital who were present at the time."

How could Chad have done this? How many lives he puts at risk!

Jay lets go of my hand and runs over to where Chad is. He starts kicking Chad over and over, and Chad ends up in the fetal position. Pathetic.

"If something happens to my Luna and my nephew, you don't even have to wait for Kaiden to kill you!" Jay shouts. Gone is the loving Jay I know. "You're going to beg me for death for how much I will torture you."

"If anything happens to her, Jason," Chad says after Jay stops kicking him, "I'll take my life myself!" he promises. "I didn't know she was pregnant. I'm sorry."

"Ah, you're going to be so sorry," Kaiden turns towards Chad as he says, "I won't have the mercy of letting you take your life."

It could be because of the pain Chad is feeling, but he starts crying and puts his hand on his head as if he's regretting what he did, and the penny is dropping.

I hear him whisper softly, almost imperceptibly, "What did I do..."
