Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 36
I have never received such support in my entire life. My parents taught me to just rely on myself and never trust or expect anything from anyone.
And I did as I was told. Aside from Chad and Jason, I never had any kind of expectation that anyone would help me in times when I needed help. Because there was never any help. No one has ever helped me. My whole life, I've been helping people.
When I was born, I helped my father to have an heir. When I grew up, I fought for my people and took control of the pack. None of these moments I relied on anyone. None of these times did anyone show me any help.
I was lost in my thoughts, a heavy weight upon my shoulders. I had always prided myself on my independence, navigating through life's challenges without relying on anyone else. But deep within, a sense of weariness settled an unspoken longing for the support I had never received.
As I contemplated my past, memories of hardships and obstacles flooded my mind, each one met with sheer determination and solitary resilience. I had weathered storms, fought battles, and triumphed. I had never known the feeling of true companionship or the support of others.
Then, like a sudden ray of sunlight piercing through dark clouds, she appears. She saw beyond my stoic facade, recognizing the unspoken burden I carried. And, against my expectations, she extended her hand in genuine assistance.
I'm still stunned by Katie's act. I still can't believe that after everything I said against her, she still came to help me.
She's got my back. Why did she help me? That question kept bouncing around in my head.
I found myself caught between conflicting emotions. Gratitude washed over me, grateful for the support that had finally arrived. Yet, a part of me felt an undeniable pang of regret for allowing me to accept this help from her because I know I don't deserve it.
A mixture of relief and bitterness mingled within me, for I had grown accustomed to bearing the weight of the world on my shoulders. The vulnerability that came with accepting help felt foreign, unsettling.
I couldn't shake the feeling that I had been weakened by accepting help, that I was somehow less of a person because I couldn't handle everything on my own. But at the same time, I knew that I couldn't deny that without Katie's help, I wouldn't have been able to participate in the tournament.
When I thought all was lost, she appeared beautiful in front of me and gave me hope. I'm going to win this tournament, even if it's the last thing I do. I'll show them what I'm capable of.
Troy is extremely proud of our mate for helping us out. He keeps reminding me how beautiful she looks and that he wants to mark her. I had to control myself so he wouldn't attack her.
When she said 'Luna Katie' it was like music to my ears.
She spoke with such confidence and authority that the power of her voice didn't sound human. She is far from human looking.
As Wylder called out to the other attendees and spouted off some more ceremony nonsense, I couldn't take my eyes off her. Her red hair, contrasting with the color of her dress, was beyond human beauty.
"You can't stay away from me, little bunny?" I teased, I couldn't control myself, I had to get her attention so she would look at me.
Mission succeeded! She lifted her face and looked at me with an adorable, angry face.
"Don't flatter yourself," the sound of her angry voice was so cute that I couldn't stop smiling. "I didn't want you to look more stupid than usual in front of everyone," she said with her pink lips very softly, I almost didn't listen as she looked me in my eyes.
This sassy little bunny...
"But is the contract still up? Will you stay by my side?" I asked even more quietly so that no one could hear, and I was anxiously waiting for her to answer.
"And do I have another option now?" she replied, frowning, so cute!
"That's hurtful," I said, trying to contain the smile of happiness that she didn't give up on the contract even though she wanted to.
Everyone started clapping, and then I saw that the Wyder had stopped talking. The competitors began to disperse at the party, and before I could say anything, Katie pulled away from me and ran towards one of the Alphas that is in the tournament, I clenched my hands angrily. She ran as fast as a scared little squirrel away from me.
I went to where she was, and before I got there, she was already hugging him.
What the fuck is this? He looked like he was going to eat her with his eyes.
Do they know each other?
"Katie?" I called her over, and she turned to look at me like I was interrupting their little meeting.
"Alpha Kaiden, this is Ben, sorry, Alpha Benjamim," she giggled, "I used to play with his younger sister when his parents visited my pack," I almost growled at him.
"My parents always ask about you Katie," he said, looking at her with a look of lust that I held back so I wouldn't tear his eyes out. "I didn't know you had found... someone," he looked at me with a disgusted face.
"Hmm... It's all very recent, we haven't told anyone yet," she replied with embarrassment, looking away, I took advantage of the fact that she wasn't seeing and put my hand on her back to get her out of there.
"Katie, before the ceremony ends, I want to talk to you... in private," he said to her, and I pulled her close to me by force, and we left, I heard her answering 'okay' to him, but I didn't give her a chance for her to say more.
Heading towards us was Duncan, he's a pain in the ass. I won't avoid talking to him because I know it will only show weakness. I waited for him to arrive, he didn't take his fucking eyes off Katie the whole time.
"You! I still haven't met yet. Beautiful, my name is Duncan," he spoke to her, I controlled myself to not growl.
"What do you want, Duncan?" I said coldly.
"Well, well, look at you. I thought you gave up the crown, but then I saw your treacherous face at the initiation," he said mockingly.
"Save your words for someone who cares," I grabbed Katie by the waist and was going to move away from him, but he kept talking.
"Don't get ahead of yourself. Just because you've amassed some followers doesn't mean you're fit to be king," he said, and I turned sharply with Katie, I was ready to break his nose.
"The greatest talkers are the least doers. You should be concerned about your performance. Excuse us now, please, because I don't want to talk to you anymore," Katie answered him, and he was as stunned as I was. Duncan kept his mouth open, trying to think of something to reply, but nothing came out. I pulled her, and we went to Jason and Chad.
I can't believe she said that, I looked at Duncan with a satisfied smile.
Katie is so shy, I never thought she would say that. She was rough but also polite. I even forgot that I was mad at this fucker.
'She's perfect. She was made for us!' Troy said excitedly, jumping like a puppy, and I couldn't find any reason at this point to disagree with him.
