I didn't run far beyond listening to his growl because then, immediately, it felt like my body's very essence drained away, and I found myself tumbling. I end up tripping over my foot and falling to the ground.

The impact reverberates through me, every inch of my body protesting the sudden collision. My body was already tired, and with this fall, It felt as if a stampede of elephants trampled over me.

Yet, amidst the dull ache, there's a sharper, searing pain radiating from my left arm.

When I look at it, there is blood running down my arm; I must have hurt myself on the rocks that are around me.

I don't know how long I stayed on the ground because when I look up, still lying on the ground, it's no longer Troy coming towards me, it's Kaiden.

Somehow, he's already shifted and is only wearing shorts. The sight of him coming towards me with those muscular abs makes me want to run my hand over him just to feel it over my fingers.

Oh, Goddess, I'm ogling him again!

Kaiden's abs are so defined that it looks like his abs have abs of their own.

He has a cloth in his hand, which I imagine is the shirt he must not have been wearing.

"You shouldn't have run like that," he says seriously as he tries to gently wipe the blood from my arm with the shirt in his hand.

I wince at the sudden pain when he touches me, "I got you," he says confidently. He picks me up bridal style and starts heading in the direction we were running.

"I can walk," I say, but deep down, I won't leave the comfort of his arms even if he throws me to the ground; if that happens, *I swear I'll still hold on to his neck*.

"I don't care. I'm not going to let you walk after you've almost broken yourself in three pieces," he says coldly, and I don't retort. He continues with the lecture, "you have to be more careful, you shouldn't overstep your limits like that!"

He squeezes me a little closer to his body, and I bite my bottom lip, "you cheated! You shifted and ran like a wolf, and I had no way of beating you," I say with a pout.

He smiles and then looks into my eyes, "I wanted to run to you, and I did that for a few minutes before Troy shifted because he couldn't stand being away from you anymore! He wanted to be part of your training too," he confesses.,and I smile even more to hear that.

I love Troy. That's unquestionable.

Kaiden, on the other hand... I don't know...

I don't know how to pinpoint my feelings for him as easily as I can with Troy.

When I was dating Chad, I knew exactly how I felt about him, and in a way, if I'm honest with myself, my feeling about Chad hasn't changed.

Even though I know that Kaiden is my mate, all the affection I feel for Chad hasn't disappeared...

"Get ready, tonight we're going out on a date," Kaiden says suddenly, and my cheeks get even more red because he takes me out of my thoughts about Chad.

If he had known I was thinking about Chad, even without any thoughts of lust, he would have freaked out.

"Sure," I reply with a smile on my face as I bounce my feet like a child on his arms. I couldn't be happier.

I lose track of time because, after a few moments, we arrive where my backpack is. Kaiden puts me down, and despite the pain of standing up again, my eyes automatically go to his abs.

Ugh. I need to put myself together!

I bite my bottom lip while he wears his t-shirt.

And just like that, he takes away my view of his perfectly sculpted abs and pecs.

I think I hate t-shirts now.

I'm not at all surprised to be greeted by violent coughing before I'd even reach the door.

I know the owner of this cough. When I enter the room, I see Thomas sitting on the bed and his mate, Lucy, holding his hand while he tries to cover his mouth.

The last time I saw him was well before I found out about my gift. I prescribed something for him, but it clearly wasn't enough.

I don't know exactly what Thomas has, he said that his father also had this uncontrollable cough, which is strange because there are almost no genetic diseases among wolves.

In addition to the cough, he feels weakness in his body, which makes him even more distressed because he is one of the pack's warriors, and he is very proud of it.

I talk to them to find out how they've been dealing with everything, and it's no surprise to me when I see that he hasn't improved.

I ask him to take off his shirt and go to the place where we have some potions. I'm going to use my power to heal him, but I'm going to attribute it to something else so they don't find out.

He takes off his shirt, and I open the bottle before putting some of the portion in my hands and rubbing it around his chest, right in the area where his lungs are.

I ask him to turn his back, and I do the same movement I did on his chest; I try to be very gentle because, with each touch, he starts coughing even more.

I smile softly at his mate, who is beside me apprehensively; I can see the concern in her eyes.

She cringes at his violent cough.

But I don't so much as blink, I know he'll get better soon.

I take advantage of the moment she looks away, and I use that to activate my power.

Warm simmer along my fingers and palm as he sucks in a breath, and I lay one hand on his back and one hand on his chest.

Right over where I feel the damage to his lungs is most concentrated.

For long seconds, I only lay my hands there, my brows scrunched, focusing on his healing.

And when I lift my hand, I know he is cured because he stops coughing! He still has a significant weakness in his body that I would also like to cure, but I am interrupted by his mate.

Lucy holds my hands and kisses them, one then the other.

I don't react, but I smile at her, "thank you!" she says, wiping the tears from her face, "I don't know what medicine you gave him, but just hearing him breathe without coughing makes me more than grateful!"

"This new, uhm, medicine... will solve his problem with the uncontrollable coughing. If the coughs appear again, you guys come here again," I answer her as she goes to him and holds his hands.

"Don't forget I'm still here," Thomas says, and we both chuckle at him.

I'm happy he's healed because his violent cough flared up so badly this time... This disease didn't go gently with him.

"Luna, when will we be able to..." Lucy speaks towards me, hoping I understand what she means.

The last time he was here, Dr Smith said he couldn't exert himself when he was in this serious condition, and I agree with him.

However, without the coughs, his body's weakness will get better, and he will no longer have this problem.

When I understand what she means, I say to Thomas, "Give your body time to rest," Lucy pouts, I try not to laugh, "Dr Smith would tell you two more weeks at a minimum, but... try it at a week. If there is any discomfort—"

I get more and more tired and exhausted, not only from training with Kaiden and my fall but also from using my power a lot by continuing to see some more patients.
