"Katie, I missed you," she hugged me.

"I missed you so much, Becca." I tightened the hug. I missed her, Becca was always really nice to me, and I loved playing with her when we were kids, then when we grew up, I loved gossiping with her.

"I was in such a beautiful place. I wanted so much to travel with you next time. Who knows, when you finish your studies, I'll take you to a very special place, I didn't send you a photo of that place because I want it to be a surprise," she told me with a lot of excitement, and I almost wanted to go with her right away.

"I already want to go, stop tempting me," I whimpered, and Jake appeared carrying five boxes, "I brought what you asked for, I hope that's enough," I said.

"Katie, clearly, there's a lot more there than I asked for. You don't need to do that! Thank you so much," she said, hugging me again.

"Hi, Jake," Becca said, looking at him. He frowned and turned to me.

"I'm waiting for you in the car, you know I have a place to go after here," he said and went to the car. I nodded, wanting to stay with Becca a little longer.

"Why does he treat me like that? I never did anything to him," Becca said sadly.

"Sorry about that, Becca, I really wish you guys were friends," I said sincerely, I wish Jake would get along with her.

I helped her put the boxes inside the trunk of the car. But two of the boxes didn't fit, so we put them in the back seats, her car looked like she was moving. Well, she was literally moving.

Becca always liked power, she never liked her pack and always wanted to live in a place where she could have a position of power, I never quite understood her ambition. I think she's just trying to figure herself out, and I hope that with all these trips she takes around the country, she can find herself and know what she wants for her life.

We talked a little more, and she said vaguely her future plans.

As we stood in front of Becca's car, I raised an eyebrow curiously. "So, south this time, huh? What's pulling you in that direction?"

Becca leaned against her car, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Well, there's this job... It's a risky move, but the potential rewards are too tempting to pass up." She chuckled, a hint of nervousness in her voice. "It's something I need to explore. You know, sometimes you've got to take that leap, right?"

Looking at her earnestly, I could sense her determination. I crossed my arms, intrigued. "Sounds mysterious. Care to share a hint?"

Becca grinned mischievously. "Let's just say it's a one-shot deal, this job could change my life completely..."

Yet, despite her conviction, there was a flicker of doubt and fear in her eyes. I placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder, trying to comfort her, "Becca, you've tackled challenges before and come out stronger every time. I know this won't be any different."

I know she's going to make it, Becca is very determined.

A smile tugged at her lips, "Well, get ready for me to work my magic down south then."

I gestured towards her car. "The road awaits, magician. Go dazzle them with your skills."

I was excited by everything she said, and also sad that I didn't go with her.

She playfully nudged my arm. "Thanks for being here, for believing in me."

"Anytime," I said.

"Have a good trip, Becca. And tell me everything later," I said goodbye, holding back tears.

"Stay safe, Katie. Next time I see you, we are going to have a wonderful trip," she said and kissed my cheek. "That's a promise."

I smiled and nodded my head in agreement, watching as she got into her car.

I got back in the car, and Jake started to drive, we were silent for a moment. I wanted to spend more time with Becca, but I didn't want to bother Jake, he had already come with me, and it's not fair for him to keep him waiting so long.

Gazing out of the car window, I found myself entranced by the winter landscape unfolding before me. The world outside was a blend of ethereal whites and soft grays as if a painter had delicately dabbed their brush across the scenery. The trees wore a dusting of snow on their branches, bending under the weight of winter's touch. It was a scene of tranquil beauty, completely opposite to my chaotic and confused thoughts.

But after a few moments of thinking about everything and nothing at the same time, I managed to put my head in place and think about what I'm going to do.

We were already getting close to our house when I decided to break the silence.

"What are you going to do now that you're so eager to go?" I said, smiling as I saw Jason and his motorcycle parked in front of our building.

"Shut up," he replied, smiling.

"But weren't you the one who didn't want to get on Jason's ultra mega tech motorcycle?" I teased and added, "I remember having to force you to get on the bike." I couldn't help but laugh.

"*I don't want this for myself, I want distance from him,*" I mimicked his voice.

"Look at you now, you're all clingy," I teased him with a smirk, he turned red and couldn't stop chuckling, I was happy to see him like this.

"Hi Jaaaay," I said, imitating the nickname Jake calls Jason from the car window when the car passed close by him as Jake was heading towards the parking lot to park the car.

"You are a little teaser, you know that?" Jason yelled so I could hear him, and from the car mirror, I saw the smile plastered on his face of happiness. I looked, and Jake was controlling himself not to smile, I saw that he turned his face away so I wouldn't see his reaction. They're so cute.

At least one of us is lucky in love.
