***The Traveler***

*It’s time to come home!*

The Moon Goddess’ heavenly voice echoed in my head.

Just after, my girl and I decided to run away to another place together. However, as soon as I arrived at the three sacred trees, Nigel ambushed me. I begged my girl to stay away, but as always, she just did what she wanted.

My greatest despair wasn’t that he said he was going to kill me. But it was the pain in her eyes hearing every barbaric thing he did.

I could feel all the pain she felt when she gave birth to our baby, and even though she was postpartum, she came here to me.

I wish I had my time with Nigel. I would enjoy killing him slowly.

But if there’s one thing I’ve learned in the last few months, it’s that *time is the most precious and valuable thing we have. Therefore, we must spend it wisely.*

I made a choice to spend my last moments here with my mate in my arms instead of seeking revenge endlessly.

And I didn’t regret it because as soon as Alexa was in my arms, all I could do was thank the Moon Goddess for giving me the strength to defeat Nigel with so much poison running through my veins.

*It’s time to come home!*

I hear the Moon Goddess’ voice again, and when I look ahead, with Alexa hugging me, I see her.

The snowstorm calms down in her presence, as does the chaotic thunder and bright lightning in the sky.

The full moon is as bright as the first time I saw her.

Her heavenly and maternal beauty is something that steals my breath away. If I hadn’t sat on the ground with my mate on my lap, I would be on my knees because there is no better way to be in her presence.

“*It’s time to come home!*” The Moon Goddess repeats.

“Please let me stay with her,” I beg. Alexa looks where I’m looking, but she can’t see the Goddess Selena and the wolves’ souls around her. Though I’m absolutely sure she can feel the presence of our Goddess.

I’m so distressed that I can’t speak. So I mindlink to the Goddess Selena, hoping she can hear me. ‘Why did you send me here? Why did I arrive here without my memories?’ I dare to ask, but deep inside, I know I’m just trying to buy more time with Alexa.

She gives me a motherly smile as she looks at me and then at Alexa, who has her back to her. After a moment, her eyes turn to me, and she says, “As I said before, I always look after my wolves.” Her voice is firm as she begins to explain. “Yet, each of you possesses the free will to forge your own path. I muted your voice, and your wolf went dormant, for it was necessary for you to endure that trial in order to fulfill your destiny. Still, it was Alexa’s decision to heed the signal I sent and rescue you, even without knowledge of your mate bond. That, too, was a trial for her — an opportunity to relearn trust in others. Your knowledge of the future and your wolf were only bestowed upon you by her choice in your bond. Before she marked you, you underwent trials. I sought to ascertain your capacity to navigate tribulations devoid of your affluent princely life. If you merited the restoration of your powers.” A small smile appears at the corner of her pale lips. “Before, you aided in the construction of the pack and intervened to rescue her, unbeknownst to your mate bond. And as you regained your wolf and memories, you judiciously wielded your astute knowledge, just as I had foreseen. I am proud of your journey, as well as hers!”

What?

The Goddess, who always barely responded to me and always just nodded, suddenly gave a speech about everything that happened! And is she proud of me? WHAT?

Tears fall from my eyes. It was so difficult not to be able to speak. It was really a real test for me!

“You were only able to fulfill your purpose because of her,” the Goddess Selena states, looking at my mate and then turning her eyes back to me. “And Alexa’s accomplishment in building the Three Trees pack was solely achievable because of your influence. Without you, none of this would have transpired. I have been by your side throughout, yet the ultimate decision always rests with you.”

I tighten my arms around my mate, and my eyes involuntarily glance over Nigel dead on the ground.

And something I’ve always been curious about comes to my mind. I lift my eyes to look at the Moon Goddess, but I can’t hover in one place because her glow is too intense, so I wander my eyes to the souls of the wolves around her. ‘Goddess Selena, if the mate bond is so sacred, why do people reject their fated mates? Why do some mate bonds go wrong?’ I ask her in my mind.

“Look at me,” she says. It’s easier said than done. Her glare almost blinds me, but I lift my eyes to her.

Again, she responds with a motherly smile, but I feel like she is already losing patience with me.

“Once more, you possess the gift of free will to shape your own destinies as you see fit,” she says firmly but then softens her eyes. “You receive a divine bond that completes you completely. I bestow upon each of you the perfect mate for your life. Yet, it remains within your discretion to embrace or reject the blessings I offer.” She pauses momentarily as though she’s seeing people’s destinies through her eyes. “At times, the mate bond binds more than a single individual because my wolves are intertwined in a manner beyond mortal comprehension. On all these occasions, it occurs because love prevails. And no, Nox. I bear no hatred toward him,” she looks briefly at Nigel with sad eyes before looking back at me.

Could this be why Dana, Letum, and Kyrie were connected? Maybe that’s why they completed each other.

She doesn’t answer me, but her smile slightly widens.

“It’s time to come home!” The Moon Goddess repeats. “The gifts I have in store for you lie ahead in the future.”

No. No. No!

My body tenses again with fear. ‘I don’t want them!’ I answer. I know I’ll miss my parents for the rest of my life, but I can’t live without my girl. ‘I’d rather exchange what you have to offer me for living with her,’ I dare to propose.

“Are you certain of your decision?” she asks with a slight smirk as though she already knew my desire.

‘Yes!’ I respond without a second thought. ‘I already feel so privileged just to be able to talk to you!’ I say it for good measure with a big smile on my face. It’s still true, though.

She opens a smile that seems to light up everything around us.

And then, the Moon Goddess rises into the air and looks back to where the pack is placed. Her proud look makes my heart beat faster.

Afterward, she turns her gaze to the three sacred trees and the ground near me — her eyes look so merciful.

Even the wolves around her feet stand still.

The Moon Goddes gives a short nod with her head raised as if she says she accepts my supplications. Although she doesn’t say anything else, her aura around her says it all.

This is the last thing I see after touching the wishing tree, and everything darkens.

I almost panic for fear of what happened last time happening to me again.

However, as soon as I open my eyes again and see a sunny day, green trees, and flowers around us, my heartbeat calms.

My mate is on my left side, and a naked and unconscious woman who appears to be in her early 30s is on the right.

Then, I perceived that the Moon Goddess had let me stay with my girl. I breathe a sigh of relief, feeling like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

Nothing she had to offer me would be as valuable as my girl.

Alexa whispers breathlessly, looking at the woman next to me. “Sandy!”

***The Healer***

It’s Sandy! Oh, my Goddess!

It’s her! I can not believe it!

I crawl to where she is and immediately place my hand on her neck. Her heartbeat is weak, and her breathing is even as if she were just sleeping. I try to heal her, but she doesn’t have any injuries. She’s just unconscious.

“Sandy!” I try to wake her up. “It’s her! She’s alive!” I turn to Nox and see him taking off his long-sleeved burgundy top. “How?”

He gives me a bright smile, “The Moon Goddess!” Nox responds.

I look around us, and I startle, falling back.

Look at the size of these trees! They are huge! They were so tiny a second ago!

“Are we—” I stutter, “we came to the future?” I ask in disbelief without looking at my Prince because I want to see everything around us.

Everything is so colorful, so beautiful, and bright. It looks like an enchanted place. The trees are pompous, and the branches move with the wind in a way that brings a forest smell to me.

I feel calmer. I can’t explain why. It seems like it’s coming from one of those trees, but I don’t know why — I just can feel it.

My eyes return to the wishing tree again, and I see the small door that I pinned to it. It’s completely aged, but it’s still here! I touch it with my fingertips in disbelief. I didn’t even realize I had gotten up from the ground. Wait... I touch over my body.

I can’t feel any pain! My belly feels and looks like I’ve never been pregnant. “Nox!” I spin around to look at him and see that he has placed his clothes on my protector’s body and picked her up.

“We need to take her to the packhouse,” he says, and I remember again that Sandy is here! There are so many things happening simultaneously that I don’t know what to pay attention to.

“Yeah, let’s go!” Suddenly, I feel scared. I don’t know what awaits us. “Nox...” I say, and he stops walking with Sandy in his arms.

I adjust his clothes on her so she’s not so exposed. Sandy is timid. I’m sure she wouldn’t want anyone to see her naked. “I’m scared,” I say, looking at Sandy.

“Hey, look at me,” I look up at him. “I’m here with you. You’re not alone,” he says firmly.

“Okay,” I reply, setting an arm around his waist, and we start walking again.

My head spins from one side to the other, and I cannot believe how everything is different yet so similar.

The birds sing happily around us. I smile and glance at Nox, who gives me a smile brighter than the sun behind us.

Unexpectedly, I feel something approaching. “Nox?” It appears to be at least five people. However, despite them running towards us and us still not seeing who it is, Nox has an even bigger smile.

“NOX!” Someone screams excitedly, running towards us.

“PRINCE!” other people start to come along.

Wait! I bite the inside of my cheek. Only I call him Prince!

“Where have you been all this time?” a woman yells before she even reaches us.

“Calm down, I’ll explain everything. First, we need to take Sandy to the packhouse,” Nox says, but everyone around him starts to hug him, ignoring him.

“I prayed to the Goddess Selena all these months!” a girl cries.

“Thank you, Aunt Vick!” he says, kissing the top of her head. Everyone seems to ignore me and remain crowding him, almost preventing him from walking.

“Let him keep walking! He’ll end up tripping over one of you,” one of the women scolds the others, but they don’t stop hugging and thanking the Goddess Selena for him being alive.

I’m in fucking awe for a second. I had no idea how much Nox had people like that in his life who cared so much about him.

He turns to me with a shy smile as though apologizing for the crowd, but I just nod.

“Who are you?” his Aunt Vick asks.

“Nox, I will prepare something extraordinarily delicious for you to eat. You must be so hungry!”

“Oh, my Goddess! Look at his skin! When was the last time you applied a cream to your skin?”

“You need a new haircut! Who cut your hair for you? Your beautiful hair is all crooked!”

“Nox! What is this huge mark on your neck? Did you find your fated mate?”

“Nox, do you want me to carry her?”

Prince seems overwhelmed as if he doesn’t know who to respond to first, and I can see that he is too polite to ask them to shut the fuck up. However, he answers the last question.

“No, don’t worry. Sandy weighs nothing!” his dimples appear with his princely smile.

Ugh. He’s so captivating! I want to poke all these women’s eyes out because they saw his smile.

They keep asking him questions nonstop in a way he doesn’t even have time to respond. We keep walking, and shortly after, the pack houses start to appear.

“Wow!” I whisper in disbelief with my mouth open. I hear Nox chuckles.

“A little different, don’t you think?” he says to me. I notice that everyone is silent and looks in my direction.

All the houses we’ve done look like they’ve been upgraded to small mansions. I feel like I’m in a completely different place, but it still has the same essence as the place we just built.

“Where are my parents?” Nox asks, breaking their silence. One of the women opens the front door of the packhouse, and I decide to stop looking at every detail because there is too much information at that moment.

“Your parents will be here tomorrow. They’re traveling with Uncle Dustin and Aunt Char,” his Aunt Vick replies. “Uncle Chad came earlier to help us prepare a surprise birthday party for your mother,” she sounds sad as she continues. “Ever since you disappeared... your mother has been in an almost depressed state. Your father has been increasingly strict. Uncle Chad thought it would be good to do something to cheer her up.”

My fated mate’s smile disappears immediately when he hears the news about their parents. I feel through our mate bond how much he suffered listening to it.

As soon as we enter the living room, I gasp. The entire decoration is spring-like. Everything seems more colorful and cheerful than the last time I saw it.

Nox set Sandy on the huge, wide sofa. Then, one of the women who was with us appears with a white throw blanket and places it over Sandy’s body. I kneel on the floor and hold her hand.

When will she wake up?

She was dead. How was this possible? Not that I’m complaining!

Suddenly, another woman appears with a tray, and I smell food.

“You must be thirsty. Here,” she says, handing me a glass of lemonade-like liquid.

Nox takes one of the cupcakes from the tray and bites it while I drink the lemonade in one gulp.

I didn’t know I was so thirsty.

“I missed your food so much, Aunt Jude,” Nox says, hugging the woman who brought the tray.

“Did you just miss it?” she teases him.

I analyze all the people around us. My hand remains firmly holding Sandy’s hand, and with my other free hand, I wipe my mouth.

They keep asking him a billion questions, but he can’t answer any of them because no one lets him. Everyone is too much euphoric.

‘Sorry, Princess,’ Nox mindlinks me without looking at me, continuing to give everyone his attention. ‘I want to share everything with my parents first.’

I don’t get upset because I understand him better than anyone else.

Suddenly, I feel two people approaching the packhouse at an incredible speed.

And a few seconds later, they enter the living room.

Nox seems to gasp along with me.

In front of me is a couple. A tall woman with short dark red hair and a tall man, both of whom appear to be in their sixties. I get up without believing what my eyes are seeing.

Everyone around us is quiet.

“Nox!” the man, who appears to be a carbon copy of *my mother*, says.

His confused eyes meet mine. It feels like there are only the three of us at that moment. All the air in my lungs seems to disappear, and a tear runs down my cheek. “Tristan!”
