Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 111
***Katherine***
The world stops for me when I feel a slight pulse beneath my hand.
Kaiden's heart started to pulsate!
The sensation I feel is that we are both reliving in this weak pulse of his, which began to accelerate quickly.
When Kaiden opens his eyes, he looks a little dazed and strangely confused. It's strange to see him with this reaction because he always seems to know exactly what he's doing.
His gaze quickly darts to mine, and I'm surprised at how quickly he recovers when he meets my watery eyes.
I throw myself into his arms and cry and cry as I hug him. I can't believe he's alive!
That's a miracle!
Thank you, Moon Goddess Selena!
Thank you for bringing him back to me!
He doesn't react for a moment, but he responds to my hug, squeezing me and smelling my neck. Then, I stop hugging him to let him breathe.
"What happened?" Kaiden asks in a hesitant voice.
"You... You..." I can't even put into words what exactly happened to him. It hurt so much. It was the worst pain of my life, knowing that he had died.
I don't even see Jake approaching, but I hear his voice next to me, "you were dead, Kaiden," he explains.
"What? How?" Kaiden gets even more confused as he asks. He tries to get up, but then he gives up and, puts his hand on his head and decides to sit down while I help him.
I look into Jake's eyes, he's looking at me without knowing how to tell Kaiden the truth.
Oh, *oh*.
It's at this exact moment that I realize what I've done!
Oh my Goddess!
How am I going to tell him the truth?
I can't hide this from him anymore. What about the people in his pack? Everyone will discover my secret!
I didn't even think about the consequences, I just wanted him back.
Jake doesn't wait for me to decide and says firmly, looking directly into Kaiden's eyes. "Some rogues attacked you. From what I found out, they knew you would be here and prepared this trap for you."
"You don't say!" Kaiden says sarcastically, "I had already discovered this before I even died!" he adds impatiently, "I want to know how I'm alive!"
Though hesitant, Jake responds, "Katie brought you back."
Kaiden looks at me like he doesn't believe it, "How?"
"Katie is a healer. She can heal people, and she brought you back!" Jake says everything at once, and I wait for Kaiden's reaction.
I just hope he's happy with it; he always said I'm 'only human,'...
"What the fuck? Are you making fun of me?" Kaiden shouts at Jake and looks at me like he doesn't believe I'm capable.
"I'm not. You were dead until minutes ago. She brought you back!"
He stays silent for a moment, seeming to absorb what Jake just revealed.
After a few seconds that seemed like an eternity, he turns to me and says, "Katie, tell me this is a fucking lie."
I look at Jake, and he shakes his head; there's no point lying to Kaiden now. So, I decide to confirm. "No... It's not a lie. I'm a healer," I say softly, anticipating his reaction.
"You lied to me this whole time?" he shouts at me and moves away from me even though we're still sitting.
"I—" I try to explain even though I don't know what to say, but he interrupts me.
"You've been lying to me since we met. You were extremely upset with me for hiding our fucking bond mate," his voice sounds so upset that I wince. "You are a fucking hypocrite!" he shouts, and my eyes widen at his reaction, completely contrary to what I imagined.
"Kaiden, let me explain—"
"No! You lied to me. You are a hypocritical liar!" Kaiden says as he tries to get up.
"Kaiden—" Jake tries to intervene, but Kaiden looks at him with so much hate that he stops talking.
"Did this fucker know?" Kaiden looks at me with narrowed eyes, and I press my lower lip as I close my eyes and nod.
"So that means he knew this whole time, but your fated mate, the person you should trust the most, you didn't bother to tell!" He accuses me, "I bet you only told me because you needed to save me, otherwise, I would still be unaware of your lies."
Every word he speaks feels like a sharp knife cutting me into pieces.
I don't know how to explain my situation to him because, frankly, he's right; I wouldn't have told him if I didn't have to.
Tears fall from my eyes without stopping. This time, it's not because of Kaiden's death but because of the harsh, true words he throws in my face.
He stares at me for a moment, his anger so great that I can't look into his eyes for long.
"Just answer me one thing," Kaiden breaks the silence, his voice firm, full of hatred. My eyes dart to his once again as I wait for him to continue. "Did Chad know about this?"
"What?" I ask without understanding what this has to do with him.
"You know what? Don't answer! Doesn't matter what your answer will be," he shakes his head, disappointed in me, "I'm not going to trust you anyway!"
With these words, he turns and starts walking in the other direction, leaving me still kneeling where he was lying lifeless until minutes ago.
"Kaiden! Wait," Jake says, and Kaiden stops walking but doesn't turn to look back.
My heart hurts so much. He's so angry with me that he can't even stand to look at me.
"No one can know this; Katie will be in danger if you tell anyone," he hesitates as he listens to Jake; for a moment, I think he's going to turn and look at me, but he shakes his head slightly as if he's composing himself.
"Do you still think you have the right to ask me for things?" He says gruffly, "She's lucky I don't *reject* her right now."
When I think there's no way he can hurt me anymore, he says that, and I find out that, yes! It's possible.
Tears flowed non-stop from my eyes as Jake hugged me; even though I felt the tightness of his embrace, I couldn't help but feel like, this time, I was the one dying on this ground.
