Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 174: Book 2 - Chapter 7

I turn the skewer from one side to the other. The rabbit meat is almost the way I like it. I was going to go hunting after I woke up, but a rabbit was at the cave entrance and saved me time.

We will need all the energy we can save to get to where Dana and Letum are. I want us to walk quickly to get there as soon as possible because I don’t want Prince to be exposed to the cold for too long.

Prince is sitting on the floor next to me, watching me closely. “It smells good, doesn’t it? Are you hungry?” I ask him.

I take the skewer with the meat, take out a piece, and put it on a skewer for him to eat.

However, that’s not what happens.

I opened the backpack earlier and left some things out of it. So Prince goes to a plate on the floor and picks it up, then he picks up a fork and a knife.

I stand dumbfounded, looking at him with the two meat skewers in my hands. He comes to me, I give him a skewer, and he puts it on his plate. Then he cuts the meat majestically with the cutlery, and when satisfied, he takes a piece with his fork and offers it to me.

I feel like a cavewoman watching him do that. I open my mouth and eat, still not believing that he doesn’t understand anything I’m saying, but he has manners when it comes to eating.

He elegantly alternates between taking one piece for me and one for himself until both skewers are empty.

He literally looks like a prince right now.

‘He smells like us because we slept cuddling,’ Tyra notes proudly. Then she says with her stern tone, ‘We need to move quickly. We’ve already taken too long here.’

Tyra is right.

As soon as I gather all my things back into the backpack, I start to improvise something to put at Prince’s feet. He is wearing my thick, warm socks, but they won’t be enough to keep him warm outside in the cold.

I put on an additional sock and attached a wooden sole to his foot. He lets me do everything I want without stopping me. To be honest with myself, I would let him ride my wolf so we could get there faster, but it would be dangerous.

Once I finish, I get ready to leave, looking outside the cave, but from the corner of my eye, I see Prince picking up something, a small gray rock on the floor, and quickly putting it in his pocket in a suspicious way. I think it’s strange, but I don’t stop him.

He comes to me and holds my hand. Okay, I prefer it this way too. I smile at the corner of my mouth.

I start to walk but he stops me. He takes the backpack off my shoulders and puts it on his back. I try to stop him, but I get a stern face in response, no dimple showing.

Okay... so be it.

I obey him, and he holds my hand again.

Somehow, this authoritative stern look from him without him needing to say a word left me feeling weak in the knees.

I try to focus on the path we will take. I decide we need to first go back to where I found him. And so we do. The wind isn’t as strong as yesterday, and the sun is helping to keep him from freezing to death, even though everything is surrounded by snow.

It didn’t take long, and even with his improvised ‘boots’, we arrived at the place where I found him.

She was buried here. In the same place where I met Prince. Underneath that little tree that Prince is staring at without blinking.

This was the most beautiful tree I had around at the time, even though it was so small, and I felt a purity in the air and a certainty that this was where she would like to be buried.

I didn’t recognize the tree immediately because it was tiny before, but now its trunk is almost my height.

Half of me died that day with her.

I watch Prince put his hand on the tree and make a sad, scared face. “What happened, Prince?” I ask him, placing my hand on his. “I wish you could talk to me,” I murmured when he didn’t answer. But then, he looks at me with sad eyes as if he would like to talk to me, too. I place my hand on his face, suddenly needing to touch him. He is looking at me with such an innocent expression that I feel myself tensing up with the need to protect him.

I’ve never felt like this before. The desire to get closer, to attach myself tightly to him.

He turns to me, and I lay my head in the crook of his neck; his rich scent mixed with mine fills my senses.

Why can’t I take my hands off him?

I realize that my hand is unconsciously stroking his wavy hair just as his hand is stroking my back.

I let go of our embrace, and I look at the ground, exactly where she is buried. Soft white snow covers the entire ground. Then I look around us.

That’s it. I have made my decision.

And now I need to go back immediately to tell Dana and Letum. We’re finally going to get out of this situation.

I put my hand on the tree. I don’t remember anything. I don’t know who I am. I don’t know what I’m doing here. But I remember this little tree.

I feel sad for some reason, but I don’t know how to explain my feelings or why.

The girl turns to me and hides her face in my neck as if she senses that I’m sad.

She lets go of me, looks around us, and then at me.

I stand in front of her and tower over her. Her eyes drop to my mouth, and I can’t help but stare at hers in return. Full, plush, and pink, the sight of her lips somehow makes my heart beat faster.

I can’t get enough of looking at her ice blue eyes, it’s like all this confusion and despair I’m feeling disappears when I’m looking at her. When I saw her for the first time, she had her straight dirty blonde hair down. Now, she has it in a side braid.

I haven’t known her for long, but I’ve been watching her a lot. It’s hard not to notice her sharp observation skills and serious demeanor. She exudes a sense of attentiveness and focus that is hard to miss. Any slight movement I make, she notices. She’s a little scary, but that makes me more attracted to her.

I trust her. Honestly, I just hope she doesn’t disappear.

She seems to have decided it’s time for us to go because she grabs my hand and starts heading in a different direction than the one we came in.

However, suddenly, she stops and picks up a small yellow flower on the ground that matches the color of her hair. I already noticed that she doesn’t smile much, but she smiles at this little flower. It’s not the first time she’s picked this type of flower. On the way here, she stopped to pick this type of yellow flower twice, and each time she smiled a little.

I keep this observation. Next time I see this flower, I will grab it for her just to see if *my girl* shows me her beautiful smile again.
