***The Healer***

His eyes flash with mischief, and he steals a bite of my toast.

Well, even though he was the one who made my toast, it’s still mine.

But I can’t be mad at him because he can be sexy and adorable, even stealing my toast.

I pretend disapproval at him by shaking my head as he chews, sitting next to me, and playing with my hair. I bite my toast; this shit is really good.

I’m kind of impressed that he can cook; from his soft hands, it doesn’t look like Nox has worked a day in his life, much less preparing his own food.

It’s been almost two weeks since Dana and Letum went to the central cave. During this time, Nox and I dedicated ourselves to receiving the things we bought in the city we were in. It took a few days as we could not hesitate to expose our new territory’s address, but finally, everything was settled.

“You have some black marks around your eyes, little Princess.” Nox says, with amusement in his eyes but with a tone of concern, “You didn’t sleep well last night. How about you take a nap this afternoon while I sort everything out?”

I grunt.

HA. The bastard knows why I look this way.

He kept me awake fucking me all night.

I presumed that almost two weeks after Letum and Dana left, we would have more things ready, but not even half of what I had planned was done because, basically, we both have been fucking more than doing things. I’m not going to lie, I love the way he treats me like I’m a real princess, I’m not used to being treated like this; it’s a little challenging to accept his affections, but I can see myself getting used to it.

And that’s the problem.

I shouldn’t like it so much. It’s disturbing me.

He’s stopping me from fulfilling my objective, which is to bring my pack members here as quickly as possible.

“One grunt for yes? Two for no, Princess?” Nox asks me with his ridiculous, adorable smile.

I glare at him, squinting my eyes, and grunt.

I usually wake up in a bad mood — well, in a bad mood worse than I typically do all day. However, Nox seems to have a gift for getting under my skin.

Hearing my grunt, his face lit up, and I realized that I had literally answered him according to what he teasedly said.

He gets up and starts cleaning up the mess he made to make our breakfast.

We’re still using the same little house we made in the first place, so we don’t have to go back to the east cave.

For Nox, we would already be living in the packhouse, but I just want to move there when it’s exactly the way I want it. I have so many tasks to be executed, and my fated mate thinks I should rest just because of the superficial dark circles under my eyes; he has to be kidding me.

“I’m serious, Princess,” he says in front of me, “you need to rest!”

I grunt twice.

*Really, Alexa?*

I was going to answer him, but he looks at the door sharply in alert. Then I felt someone approaching, and my body immediately stiffened, thinking about the possible threat.

‘Lexi?’ Dana mindlinks me, and my shoulders relax at the same time as Nox’s. ‘We’re here! Where are you?’

‘We are in the same house as we were before,’ I reply.

‘Got it!’

Instead of Nox heading towards them like he always does because he can’t stay still for a second, he comes towards me. He stands in front of me as if danger would appear at any moment.

However, I smelled him before he appeared, and I understood why my mate’s demeanor had changed completely.

Nige is the first to walk through the door, with a smile on his face at me and an immediate frown when he sees Nox.

***The Traveler***

What the hell is this fucker doing here?

I subconsciously clench my hands into a fist to refrain from ripping his head apart.

Seriously. I’m a calm guy.

But I was furious when she told me they already slept together. I can’t judge her because I myself have slept with some of the girls in my kingdom, but I never liked this guy.

He doesn’t seem to be who he says he is, but again, who am I to judge?

I literally lie to my mate about who I really am!

I can’t hide my displeasure that he’s here. As soon as Letum mindlinked me, letting me know that they had arrived and that he was with them, I already felt Khai become alert inside my mind.

“You,” Nigel says, looking at me. For a second, he seems surprised to see me, but another second later, he changes his expression as he looks at my mate, heading towards her.

“I missed you, Lexi,” he says, totally unaware of his fated mate’s frown just behind him.

I step in front of her as she gets up, ignoring the frown Nigel makes for not letting him get close to Alexa.

“What are you doing here?” Alexa asks sharply. I can always count on her to be rude. I hide my smile when I see Nigel wince.

“We came to help you, of course,” Rose says indignantly as if she was forced to be here.

“You? And there was no one better to come?” Alexa asks, looking at Letum and Dana. This time, it’s Rose who wince due to Alexa’s tone.

Dana comes up to me and hugs me tight. “I missed you,” she says. Her hair is messy, she smells like sweat, and she looks like she hasn’t changed her clothes in at least two days.

However, none of that stopped me from hugging her back tightly. When she lets me go, Letum hugs me right away, taking me by surprise.

He looks different, but I can’t tell what it is. ‘Are you okay?’ I ask him via mindlink because I know how reserved Letum is.

I listen to Alexa talk, or rather argue, with Nigel and Rose.

Letum lets go of the hug. He’s less messy than Dana, but he seems just as tired from the trip as she is. ‘Yes,’ he responds via mindlink but flashes a smile in my direction.

I look at him, confused, not understanding the reason for the joy he seems to be hiding.

Somehow, my gaze goes to Dana, who seems to admire Letum’s smile, but she looks away, and he returns to his usual face.

‘Later,’ Letum says.

I give him a short nod. “Where are we going to sleep?” Rose asks, looking around.

“I’ll show you,” Dana says, and Rose starts following her and Letum into the house.

Alexa starts to explain the things we have already done in the territory, and Nigel listens to her patiently. My mind is on alert for him. My wolf recognizes him as a threat, but I think it’s just his possessiveness towards my fated mate trying to make me irrational.

I’m still distressed and haven’t been able to rest properly since my last encounter with the Moon Goddess.

Even though it was a dream – well, more like a freaking nightmare – it was the encounter with her that left me with the most fear, trepidation, and anger.

I’ve been worried since then. I still can’t accept the fact that I have to go back to the future without her.

I’ve already thought about the possibility of staying here and never coming back. However, I know that wouldn’t be right, and I doubt that the Moon Goddess will accept it.

I can’t even think about the possibility of never seeing my parents, my family, my kingdom again.

At the same time, I can’t accept the possibility of going to the future without her.

If I do that, she is going to stay here alone. Unprotected.

What if the Bloodmoon pack attacks her again?

This is so unfair. Goddess Selena told me she was *my* gift.

Why will the Moon Goddess take my gift from me like this?

How can I have faith when what she asks me to do is literally never see my other half again?

It’s cruel!

Despite all this, I am still grateful to have met my fated mate, even though she is, in a crazy way, my great-grandmother. I am grateful for every moment I have lived with her, and for every moment I will continue to live because I love this girl.

I freeze in place as my head trips over that word.

*Love?*

Do I love her?

I mean, of course, I do.

She’s my fated mate.

I think I’ve loved Alexa since the first time I laid my eyes on her.

But am I *in love with* her?

Yes.

Definitely, yes! I love her!

Since then, my head has been a mess, so I decided to enjoy every second with my fated mate as if it were the last one because one day, it really will be.

I leave thoughts aside because my attention is caught when I notice the moment Nigel discovers that Alexa and I are fated mates.

“You can’t be—” he says indignantly with his mouth open, turning red.

I don’t know how he didn’t notice it before. Maybe it’s because he must think that the world revolves around him.

Even though the mark I left on her is covered by the blouse she’s wearing, it leaves no doubt as to who she belongs to.

He looks at me furiously, and I kind of revel in the look on his face, barely containing my grin. Alexa tenses next to me.

“Alexa! You should not have marked him! He doesn’t deserve you,” Nigel spits as if he were going to convince Alexa.

Good luck with that, *I’m* her fated mate, and I can barely convince her to do some small things.

“He’s my fated mate, Nige,” Alexa says firmly.

“But what about me? I’m supposed to be the Alpha of the new pack, Lexi–”

“What?” Alexa asks with her mouth open, interrupting him.

“You can’t do this to me! Reject him!” Nigel demands, pointing at me.

*Oh*. That’s enough!

***The Healer***

Before I can fully understand what the fuck is going on, my mate strikes like a beast.

Nox is on Nige in milliseconds. He was so fast that I didn’t even see him pass in front of me.

Nox holds the smaller man firmly by the collar of his dirty shirt.

Nox’s aura screams *violence*.

Long gone is the man who always exudes a calming celestial aura, always unbothered, and never loses his cool.

“Say that again,” my mate growls, baring his teeth like a rabid animal. “I dare you.”
