Kaiden demands me to say that I'm his in a voice with such hunger and desire that I immediately forget all the things I was complaining about a minute ago.

He's too close to me for me to concentrate, not to mention he's shirtless, his sculpted abs on perfect display in front of me, tempting me in a sinful way.

Unable to resist, I tiptoe towards him and kiss him, closing the gap between us.

My arms wrap around his neck, and he immediately puts his arms around me in a cacoon of warmth and desire.

The kiss is wild, intense, and eager. It's unexpected, but at the same time, it seems to be everything we were hoping for.

It seems that not even a kiss is enough to suppress this need to be glued to his skin.

I melted into his arms. Deep down, I know how I feel about him. I can't deny it; somehow, we're linked with a mate bond that seemed impossible, and I'm feeling it, pulling us together inextricably.

I can't believe he's my fated mate. It's a shock for me to know that I have a fated mate and that he's Kaiden. Kaiden, who I tried to vehemently deny what I feel for him, but now there is no doubt left.

Even though he has a personality that infuriates me, I can't deny it anymore. I'm falling in love with him, and I've been since the first time I saw him.

"I'm yours," I say, breathlessly breaking the kiss.

He smiled and gave a deep groan of approval that made me fall in love with him even more. I reluctantly release my arms from around his neck.

"I already knew that, my little sun," he says with a naughty smile, and I roll my eyes as I pat him lightly on the shoulder.

"Why did you call me that?" I ask him, genuinely curious to know.

His gaze, intense and unwavering, locks onto mine as he begins to explain. "I call you my little sun because you warm me, Katie," he begins, his voice low and filled with a sensual allure. "From the moment I laid eyes on you, I felt a warmth in my body that brings me peace, a warmth that makes me feel healed. Only you bring this feeling to me. You are my little sun because of that," he concludes seriously, in a sexy voice, drawing me closer.

Then, with a gentle yet firm touch, he cradles my chin, lifting it up. My breath catches as I feel his warm, calloused fingers against my skin.

Our eyes lock, a magnetic pull passing between us before he leans in to capture my lips in a tender kiss. Time seems to stand still, the world around us fading into a distant hum as the moment becomes our own.

I don't know how to react because I didn't expect him to respond like that. Kaiden isn't the type to say that kind of thing. He's usually rude and aggressive.

Seeing him say that I warmed him up left me surprised. My cheeks start to heat up when I start to assimilate the meaning behind the affectionate nickname.

And I start kissing him back. This time, the kiss is calmer, as if he was savoring every moment. Somehow, this kiss feels more intimate than anything we've ever done together.

After a while, he breaks the kiss, and I already miss his lips on mine, "What about Chad?" I ask, trying to get back to reality.

I'm still dating Chad. I need to break up with him. Well, I think now it's a bit irrelevant because Kaiden is my fated mate. Again, hard to believe.

"What about him?" Kaiden asks aggressively while taking a step back as if to see me better.

"Well, as far as he knows, he's my boyfriend," I refresh his memory, and he narrows his eyes as he looks at me. I can feel his anger seeping through his eyes.

"You're mine, don't come any closer to him, do you understand me?" he says coldly.

I swallow hard, "I know... I'm going to break up with him as soon as I see him," I say softly, trying not to make him any more angry.

"Good. You can do it right now," he says, and abruptly, he pulls me to his side, and when I turn around, I see Chad coming towards us.

My heart starts to speed up. I hope Kaiden doesn't get angry anymore. Kaiden has his arm around my waist as if he was marking his territory.

With quick steps, Chad arrives close to where we are, the remaining sunlight illuminating his face. The sunlight is almost over as the sun is almost setting.

Chad looks at me, then at Kaiden, and then at the hand that Kaiden is firmly holding me.

He lets out a sigh, "So you accepted your mate bond?" he asks, looking into my eyes. He speaks in such a sad voice that I feel terrible about my decision.

I feel bad for him. I really wish we could have worked out, but what I feel for Kaiden is no comparison.

My heart hurts to see Chad so sad.

"Of course, she accepted. She's my fated mate, Chad." Kaiden shouts angrily, having no reason to be aggressive like that towards Chad.

I take his arm away from me, "Kaiden, I was Chad's girlfriend minutes ago. This isn't something easy." I say and see Chad become more relieved while Kaiden glares at me.

"Are you defending him?" Kaiden asks.

I look into his eyes and try to speak as firmly as possible, "Try to understand, we were in a relationship before you, Kaiden. And I'm going to break up with him not because he's a terrible boyfriend or because I don't like the relationship we have, but because I'm your fated mate," Kaiden narrows his eyes at me but doesn't say anything. I turn to Chad, "I'm sorry about everything, I..." I start to say, but I feel like it's not the right thing to talk to Chad right now.

Kaiden is very nervous. This conversation I have to have with Chad needs to be just between the two of us.

"Can we talk another time?" I ask Chad. He just nods and gives me a playful smile.

Then he turns to Kaiden and raises an eyebrow as if he were speaking via mindlink.

Kaiden looks at him furiously but doesn't say anything.

"Why don't we talk now, Katie?" Chad says, but looking at Kaiden.

"I want to go home–" I start to say, but Chad interrupts me.

"I'll take you there, my car is nearby, and we can finish this conversation," Chad says with a smile.

"No, you're not going with him." Kaiden shouts, pushing Chad with both hands. Chad takes a few steps back, trying to regain his balance.

"Kaiden, stop it! I told you, Chad and I need to talk alone." I say firmly, and he runs his hand over his face angrily. "Kaiden, we'll talk another time, I need to talk to Chad before anything else," I try to calm him down.

However, Kaiden goes towards Chad and punches him in the face.

"Touch her, and you die. Do you understand me?" Kaiden uses the alpha aura to talk to Chad, and he immediately submits.

"Kaiden! Stop it! You don't need to react like that," I say and go towards Chad, but Kaiden holds my arm. "Let go of me, Kaiden. You're making everything difficult. I'm going to go home with Chad, and then I'll talk to you," I pulled my arm out of his grip, and he let go. Then I go to Chad and hold out my hand to him to get up since he fell to the ground with Kaiden's punch.

"Come on," I say softly and look into Kaiden's eyes so he can see how upset I am about what he did.

Then I start following Chad in the direction he is heading to where he left his car. I look back once again, and Kaiden is looking at us with an infuriated face, and with his wrists clenched, I look away, and I look straight ahead again.

But what I really want is to go back and cling to Kaiden, to hug him and not let him go. However, I can't keep rewarding bad behavior; otherwise, he'll think it's okay every time he acts that way.

When I look back again, peeking for him, Kaiden is no longer there.
