I shake Katie's shoulders, still not believing what Troy said, this can't be real!

The pain in my heart gets worse. I tear my shirt because it suddenly feels heavy on my skin.

My mind races as I guide her gently to the floor, the faint beat of her heart causing my concern to skyrocket.

I reach for my Beta, 'Jayson, where the fuck are you?' I ask, distressed.

'At the Elite Training Center, did something happen?' he asks, already worried.

'Katie! I found her passed out on the floor,' I say, each word feeling like a knife being plunged into my stomach.

'I'll get Dr Smith immediately!'

I look at where she is lying and see a bouquet of flowers on the ground and a glass. I run over there and smell the glass, and immediately, I grit my teeth in anger and throw the glass against the wall; it shatters.

The glass smells of green tea and subtly wolfsbane with another poison that I don't know, but it must be some substance to take away the wolfsbane smell.

If I had taken it, I would have noticed the flavour, but my little mate must not have even seen any difference.

I gently open her mouth and smell her breath, it is much stronger than in the glass, she must have drunk all the liquid.

*Who did this to her?*

'Why did you leave your Luna?' I mindlink Isabel.

"Alpha, I was by her side the entire time," she enters the room desperately, "what happened?"

"She was poisoned! I found her lying on the floor passed out, you were supposed to protect her!" I grunt at my Gamma, even though I know she had no way of predicting this.

'Dr Smith is entering the packhouse,' Jason mindlinked me, 'luckily, he was close to the packhouse!'

I didn't even need to answer Jason because then a grayish wolf invades the room, and I know it's him.

He runs in the direction where we are, and behind him are several Omegas; they must have guided them here. Their desperate faces make me more desperate, I don't want to believe that she's dying.

Dr Smith shifts when he stands in front of Katie and starts checking her vital points, opening her mouth and doing other things that I don't understand what they're for.

"Is she going to be okay?" I ask desperately.

"Alpha, she must have drunk an extreme amount of wolfsbane or belladonna with some substance that accelerates the effect even more," he looks at me and then looks away, looking at my little mate lying on the bed, almost lifeless.

"What the fuck do you mean one of those two? You're not sure?" I growl at him.

"Alpha," he bares his neck towards me, "I don't know what happened, but it doesn't seem like it was just one type of poison. It seems like several poisons were mixed together–"

"What the fuck do I need to do?" I growl. He remains silent. "Answer me!" I command.

"It's difficult to say what you can do, Alpha, because I don't even know what to do... I can give her several antidotes, however," he looks into my eyes with sadness, "I don't know all the poisons that were used, and I need to know this information so I can help her," he replies. "Besides, considering her condition, she doesn't have more than an hour to live–"

"Go get those fucking antidotes immediately!" I shouted at him, and before I finished speaking, he was already shifted again and leaving the room, Isabel nowhere to be seen.

"Who made this tea?" I growl at the Omegas who are crying by the bed.

"It was me, Alpha," Jude answers, crying over and over, "but I didn't put anything in there, I swear," I can smell her desperation and sadness. She's not lying.

"Who came into this room after you brought tea?"

"No one that I've seen, Alpha," she kneels and continues crying.

"Did anyone see anyone come in here?" I ask as I go to the vanity and grab a paper on the floor.

"No, Alpha," they say in unison, some holding my mate's hands.

I read the note, and I couldn't believe what I had read!

Maia rejected Chad!

It's such a fucking coincidence, isn't it? She rejects him, and on the same day, my mate is poisoned! He must have done it!

He may have insisted that Katie stay with him, and when she didn't accept, he poisoned her, that's it!

This is his fault!

'Don't leave the Elite Training Center, bring Chad to the torture room,' I mindlink to Jason.

"Take care of your Luna. If Dr Smith gets here, mindlink me immediately!"

I need to go to him, I need to find out what he put in that tea, only this way will I save my little mate.

"Answer me, motherfucker," I punch Chad in the face again, blood spurts onto the wall. I have him held by the throat against the wall.

"I didn't do anything, I swear!" he responds desperately, "what happened to her?"

"Don't act like an idiot! I know it was you who poisoned her, she only has a few minutes left to live, answer me!" I throw another punch on the other side, my hand begging me to rip his heart out.

"I would never do that to her," he says as he tries to focus his eyes on mine, but it looks like he's dizzy from the punches I threw.

"Kaiden, there's no way it could have been him, I've been here all day! There's no way he could have left here and done anything, I assure you," Jason informs me from my side, trying to stop me from killing him. But Jacob is on my other side, so angry that he looks like he wants to rip Chad's head off himself.

"I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything!" Chad laments, "we have to do something, we have to find out who did it!"

"No shit! You think so? What do you think I'm trying to fucking do?" I growl at him and punch him in the face again.

'Alpha, Dr. Smith arrived,' Callie tells me via mindlink.

"We have to go to the packhouse; Dr. Smith is going to try some antidotes," I say as I let go of Chad's neck. He almost falls to the ground but tries to recover himself and stand up.

"Let me go with you, please," he begs.

"Of course you will, if she dies because of you, I'll kill you right away!" I promise him as the four of us head out towards the packhouse.

The Omegas open their way as soon as they see me enter the bedroom, and I immediately go to my little mate. She's paler than when I left, her mouth is so purple...

I run my hand over her swollen belly, I can hear our baby's heartbeat as weak as hers.

"I've already injected her with all the antidotes I could identify, but it hasn't changed her condition, Alpha," Dr. Smith says, saddened, "I'm sorry, but I don't know what else to do!"

"No!" I say in disbelief. I put her in my arms, her delicate and lifeless body makes me more desperate.

"Who did this to you, my little sun?" I whisper as I kiss the top of her head. I don't know what else to do.

'Kill the fucker!' Troy growls.

The time that Dr. Smith suggested is almost up. She has a few minutes left to live.

I look at Jacob holding Victoria on his lap. One of the Omegas calls Victoria out of the room, and Jacob insists that she needs to go, despite the little girl always wanting to be on their side, she obeys her father.

As soon as they leave, Isabel enters the room, dragging Laila by her hair; Laila is wearing one shoe on her left foot.

"Alpha, I don't know if it was her, but I saw Luna crying earlier as soon as Laila left the packhouse! I fucking know that she doesn't like my Luna," she says, throwing Laila on the ground.

I place my little mate's body on the bed as gently as I can and go straight to that bitch, I hold her neck tightly, "What the fuck did you do?"

"Alpha, I didn't do anything," she starts crying immediately, and I haven't even squeezed her neck the way I want yet.

"Alpha!" Dean enters the room and sees his fated mate being choked by me.

"Answer me! What did you give her?" I hit her head on the ground several times. She looks at me, disoriented, screaming without stopping.

"I gave enough to kill this bitch," she says with a smirk, I growl at her and tighten my grip on her neck.

"Kaiden, no!" Chad yells from my side, "we need to know what she did–"

"I won't tell you! I hope she dies," she says devilishly. I smell the desperation and fear of everyone around me.

"I'll give you anything! Just tell me what you did to her," I shout at her, desperate to save my little mate.
