"How is she Alpha's daughter and wolfless? Wasn't she from a small and poor pack or something?" I questioned Chad.

"I never said she was poor. To be honest, she's richer than me." He smirked and continued. "She's the daughter of an Alpha from a small but very rich pack called Three Trees. Access to the territory is challenging and secluded, which is why almost nobody knows them. She came to study at our Hospital because her pack is too small and doesn't have a structure as big as ours," he said with a smile on his face, proud of who she was. "I tried to tell you about her, but you just ignored me and said you didn't want to know anything else about her." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Why didn't you take her off the list then since you two are dating?" I asked, actually curious to know what he was going to say.

"Before you got here, we were fighting about it. I was going to take her out because I didn't know her name was on this list. We put a number on each candidate so the information would be impartial. When Jason revealed who the candidate was, I was scared, and I was going to remove her name. However, she is the best option among all the other candidates, and also, with the contract that we are going to formulate, we can add that you will not have any physical contact with each other," he shrugged.

"And do you think she would accept that?" I asked. Part of me was hoping he would say yes, and fuck me! Because that part of me wasn't Troy speaking.

"Yes, she would. Katie is the kindest person I know." He said in love. I almost rolled my eyes again. "I would only allow this with you because I know you would never want something with her because she is *human*." He said, stressing 'human'.

"Due to her being human, it should be the first criterion to eliminate her!" I said coldly. "What about these other candidates?"

"I got a message earlier from an informant that the second candidate found her fated mate recently, and the third candidate... Well, the score difference between Katie and the second candidate was 25%, but the score difference between the second and third candidates was almost 70%. So she kind of doesn't even come close to the other two." Chad stated as he pointed out the data he was saying on the sheet.

"So I only have one human option left?" I asked them, and then I snorted. They nodded in agreement. "You guys gotta be fucking kidding me!" I slammed the table and then ran my hand over my hair. After staring at the papers for a while, Jason broke the silence.

"Kaiden, she's the best option," Jason said. Chad nodded in agreement.

"Well, you go through it all, and when you have an answer, you let me know," Chad said, getting up.

"Where are you going?" Jason asked.

"I'm going to find Katie. I hope today we have our first kiss. In the last attempt, you called me via mind-link right on time and stopped the two of us from kissing," Chad whined, and Jason started laughing.

I was happy to hear that they hadn't kissed yet, but at the same time, I was apprehensive that it might end up happening later today. Just thinking about it made me furious. I won't let him touch my mate.

"Today won't be your lucky day either! You have to go to the Frost Pack immediately. I got a message earlier asking for help. They have a problem. Go to them and see what's going on there. Take what you need!" I commanded him and turned to Jason, "Double-check the people who are assigned to patrol today. See if the people from the last rogue attack have returned to their posts.

"Yes, Alpha!" They replied in unison and started to leave the office. They only call me Alpha when I give them pack commands. Apart from that, they always call me by my name, as my brothers should.

When the office was finally empty, I leaned my back against the chair.

What a comical coincidence... The person I thought would not fit as my Luna at all is precisely the person best evaluated for being my Luna. Plus, on top of that, she's my mate.

'I told you! She's perfect!' Troy finally reappeared in my mind with a cocky smile.
