"Hi," She tilted her head slightly to the left and greeted me with a beautiful smile.

I smelled her sweet cherry pepper and ginger smell, it felt like the best smell in the world, and it calmed me down instantly.

I inhaled the scent once more, and to my surprise and disappointment, I realized that something was wrong.

She is human.

She's just a human.

No, no, no... it can't be!

"Hi," I replied after looking at her for a moment. I noticed that her heart was racing.

"Hi," she repeated. I thought it was funny.

"Hi," I replied coldly, trying to understand what was going on.

"Hi," she said again, snapping me out of my thoughts.

*I can't believe she's human.*

"Hi," I said, even colder. As much as she is my mate, she is still human. I think she was upset by the tone of voice I used because she stopped repeating the greeting.

"Okay, man of many words, how are you feeling? Can you get up?" she said.

I didn't know whether to laugh or get serious. I stifled a laugh as I sat and then went back to being serious with her. I leaned my back against the tree for support, so I was facing her.

"What's your name? Do you need help?" she asked me.

What audacity of this human! How dare she not know who I am! How much audacity she has to think she can help me with something. She is just a human. She is of no use to me.

'Our mate is so attentive!' Troy cheered like a teenager in love.

Despite not answering anything, she could tell by the look on my face that I didn't like the question she asked.

"I'll take that as a 'No'," well, at least she's a smart human. She looked away, but I saw that she blushed.

'Stop treating her like this,' Troy yelled at me.

She opened a bag that was next to her and offered me a bottle of water.

"Drink some water... you need to hydrate," she said. I found that very suspicious. I never accept anything from strangers, I never trust anyone. It's the only way to not regret it. I smelled the water and saw that there was nothing in it, and then I drank all the water in the bottle and handed the empty bottle back to her.

"Unfortunately, I don't have any snacks here with me," now she's gone too far! Does she think I need her to feed me? What a stupid human.

By her smell, she's not from my pack, I know all the people here. She is not from here. She can be a danger.

"What's your name?" I asked her, and she took a while to answer. I knew it! She must be starting to elaborate on some lie. Suddenly, I feel someone approaching. It's my Gamma.

"Katie!" He said. She didn't understand what was going on and then looked up to see who was calling her. Humans are so weak. When she lifted her head, the red hair in her ponytail swayed, spreading her sweet scent even further. Her red hair looked so soft, it made me want to touch it.

'Katie!' Troy repeated her name in my mind, 'Katie is such a beautiful name! Will it be the nickname of another name?' he asked me, in love and wanting to know more about her name. I just ignored him.

Chad approached the two of us but completely ignored me. He turned to her first.

"I was scared when I saw you from a distance close to blood. Are you okay? What happened? Your hands are covered in blood," he said, holding her hands. I clenched my jaw.

'I'll rip his hands off in one bite!' Troy started to growl. Chad noticed I was starting to growl, but he didn't understand why.

"Alpha, what are you doing here? Do you need something, Kaiden?" he said.

'I need you to get your dirty fucking hands off my mate,' Troy growled in my mind.

'Is she the human you spoke of?' I asked him via mindlink.

'Yes... That's not how I wanted to introduce you. I didn't know you were still here in the park,' he replied, scared, but he kept saying, 'Don't worry, Kaiden, I'll get her out of here immediately.'

He didn't wait for me to answer, he could tell how in a bad mood I was.

'No! Don't take her away from me! Don't let him take her!' Troy whimpered. I ignored him again.

"Katie, shall we start our run?" He smiled at her and held out his hand for her to get up.

She seemed to hesitate for a moment. She looked at me, she was waiting for me to say something. I wanted to say so much... But I need to organize my thoughts.

'She doesn't want to go either! She wants to stay with us!' Troy protested. She was still staring at me, and when I didn't say anything, she turned to Chad.

"Let's go," she said as she got up, the two followed a trail that Chad had chosen.

I stared at the two of them as they walked away. She looked back and saw that I was still staring at her.

Fuck.

She wasn't supposed to see that I was looking at her. She looked away and continued on her way.

'We have a lot to talk about, idiot human!' Troy demanded.
