Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 177: Book 2 - Chapter 10
Everything happens so fast that I can’t even think, just act. I shift without a second thought, ripping my clothes in the process.
I only see red when I see the fucking rogues, in many more numbers, attack Letum, Dana, and Prince.
Withered trees encircle the cave entrance, their barren branches forming an almost unobstructed path that leads me directly to it. The red of Tyra’s fur stands out because everything around us is almost black and white.
Before the rogues get close to them, Letum and Dana shift, and each of them attacks a rogue closest to them so that Prince is protected behind the two of them.
Tyra is huge, visibly bigger than any of the wolves around us, causing them to take a step back, recoiling in fear.
I’m going to show them how they are so damn right to be scared of me.
In less than a second, Tyra jumps on top of two rogues and bites their heads off so quickly and so savagely that she lives up to my barbarian reputation.
Then, with one of her paws, she corners another mixed-color wolf much smaller than her, killing him as easily as howling at the moon. Almost as satisfactory.
The biggest wolf of these rogues attacks Letum’s and Dana’s wolves at the same time after they successfully kill the rogues they were fighting.
Meanwhile, Prince remains where he is, paralyzed by the carnage in front of him. Poor Prince.
His face of fear and confusion is less evident than the smell of terror that comes out of him. Somehow, it makes me fiercer to know he’s scared.
I won’t let anything happen to him. Tyra growls savagely and stands proudly in front of Prince to defend him.
I don’t need to go in search of my next prey because they both come straight at me at the same time. They both know that alone, they have no chance against me.
They think they’re cornering me, getting their claws around Tyra... little do they know that she won’t get out of Prince’s side for any reason.
The smell of the Prince’s fear fuels Tyra to move and get out of the grasp of the two rogues’ claws, but this causes them to sink their claws into her even more.
Tyra spins so fast that the two of them are no match for her strength, leaving them no choice but to let her go and fall away. She wastes no time and digs her sharp claws into one’s heart before jumping on top of the other with the same bloodlust.
When satisfied with the death of both of them, panting, she turns to see the dead bodies around us. Letum and Dana are still in their wolf form. Prince is not so far away, he looks at me with his mouth open.
Scared? Frightened?
His reaction makes me uneasy. Will he deprive me of his affection now that he has met this other side of me?
Tyra continues to look at him breathlessly, without blinking. I know what he’s seeing, how her paws and mouth are covered in blood.
He comes slowly with his hand raised towards us. When he approaches Tyra, she doesn’t flinch. She doesn’t step back. She doesn’t growl.
She *lets* him stroke her head, and when she starts to purr, yes, *purr*, he gives her a handsome smile.
What the fuck, Tyra?
Dana’s and Letum’s wolves look at us both in surprise. They know how much Tyra doesn’t let anyone get close to her. Much less to pat her. If someone comes close to her mouth with their hand, she rips it apart as pure instinct.
Tyra calms her heartbeat, the adrenaline of the fight made it racing. Even though his touch is good, Goddess, *how it is fucking good*, I need to put myself together.
I move a little away from him and shift, but I keep looking at him with the same intensity as Tyra’s eyes.
In the corner of my eyes, I see Letum and Dana have also returned to their human form, still surprised by Tyra’s reaction to Prince’s hand.
‘Are you sure he’s not your fated mate?’ This time, it’s Letum who mindlinks me.
I don’t turn to him to answer, I keep looking at Prince, ‘...Yes.’
I look away and start to analyze our surroundings. Rogues’ corpses scatter on the ground.
Dana and Letum start to clean up our ‘mess’ while still naked. I note Prince looking at them, and that somehow makes me angry.
“Put your damn clothes on before you do that!” I shout out to them.
“But we never–”
“Come on, Dana,” Letum interrupts her, shaking his head. He enters the cave, probably to change into his clothes, and she follows him.
Prince is wearing one of Letum’s outfits. Thank Goddess, I wasn’t wearing my travel clothes on.
I don’t follow them. First, I wait and go to Prince when only two of us are outside the cave.
I hold his hand. He looks at our joined hands, but he turns his dark blue eyes to mine when I start to speak, “We can’t be naked. Whenever we shift back, we have to wear clothes. So you can’t see anyone naked... and also, you can’t be naked in front of anyone, okay?”
What am I talking about? I don’t even know why I’m saying this to him, ugh.
He turns his head slightly to the side, and his hand touches my face the same way he did Tyra’s. Does he understand what happened here?
‘Actually, he wants me back,’ Tyra says arrogantly.
I scoff, causing my breasts to rise sharply. This move catches his attention, and he looks at my breasts. I control my smile.
*Do you like what you see, Prince?*
Suddenly, Letum and Dana come out of the cave, both with a smirk on their faces.
‘Get a room,’ Dana mindlinks me. I roll my eyes.
She catches the fish I fished on the ground, and Letum starts to tidy up our mess because we can’t leave any trace behind.
I start walking towards the cave, holding Prince’s hand, but I first turn to Letum and Dana.
“You need to be more on alert. Just because I’m with you doesn’t mean you can let your guard down,” I tell them harshly. They both lower their heads. “Nevertheless, good job! You did well to attack first,” they raise their heads, and both bow to my praise.
Then I enter the cave with Prince by my side.
🐺 🐺 🐺
With both fish roasted, I give a skewer with half a fish to Letum and the other half on a skewer to Dana.
They both start eating but stop chewing when they see me putting part of my fish on the plate and giving it to Prince.
Prince seems lost, looking around us and fixing his gaze on my backpack and then on my eyes. I don’t even need him to speak to know that he’s waiting for the damn fork and the damn knife.
As soon as I deliver what his eyes beg me for, he uses the fork and knife to meticulously cut and remove the bones before bringing the fork to my mouth.
I gladly accept the roasted fish, open my mouth, and eat. Even though my cheeks are red from Letum and Dana’s curious looks.
“Fuck! Lexi, he really is a Prince! He has manners. He’s not like Letum,” she says and pushes Letum’s shoulder with her hand, then she takes a bite of her fish, chewing audibly again. “Where did you find him?”
Prince keeps eating and giving me alternately, seeming to like what he’s eating. It gives me a certain warmth in my heart. “He’s definitely not poor,” Letum says after swallowing his fish. “I like him. I like his silence. At least he doesn’t talk more than others can bear to hear,” he enunciates each word, looking at Dana, and she gives him the middle finger.
I just keep ‘making a great effort’ to open my mouth as if I were a goddess while Prince feeds me, ignoring both of them. I wipe the corner of his mouth with my hand, and at the same time, he licks his lips.
Something in me pulls me to kiss him, hug him, rub against him, attack him... damn it. More and more, I think that maybe it wasn’t a good idea to have brought him with me.
Maybe he should run from me, be scared after seeing Tyra kill those rogues. Maybe it would be better if he had that reaction.
Maybe I’ll leave him at the closest pack we find on our way. I don’t want to have my heart hurt again. I’m letting my guard down. This is literally my unbreakable rule: never let my guard down.
Prince offers me more food, and I shake my head. “Lexi, what route are we taking? Are we going to take the way we came?” Dana snaps me out of my thoughts.
I shake my head, “No. We need to take the quickest route.”
“Why?” Letum asks, looking at Prince.
*Because Prince will be exposed to the cold for too long, and I don’t want him to freeze to death*. I want to say but choose, “Because we need to tell the news as quickly as possible to everyone in the central cave. They must be as anxious as we are.”
Well, that’s still one of the reasons.
“Lexi, it’s going to be dangerous. The quickest route will go through territory with some rogues,” Letum points out, finishing his food.
“Let’s go through the most hidden passages we know. Let’s be extra careful. If something happens, you know I will protect you,” I reply to them.
“We know, Alpha, but don’t you think going another route is better? A less dangerous one...” Dana suggests.
“No!” I respond loudly and firmly, leaving no room for further arguments.
Her suggested route is one where the snow accumulates much more, making the cold more severe. If Prince goes there, he will get hypothermia every half hour. I can’t afford to heal him and be weak because if something happens, I need to be strong to defend them.
I know they both didn’t want to go the faster route, fuck, much less me, but it’s the best thing to do. Now it’s time to pray to the Moon Goddess to protect us.
🐺 🐺 🐺
Out of the cave and with our backpacks already packed, I start to point them the way we will go with my hands.
“Let’s continue in this direction here, later...” I continue explaining, but I notice Prince’s sudden disappearance.
I feel his presence nearby and no threat around us, so I ignore wherever he goes and continue explaining our next steps to Letum and Dana.
After a few minutes, Prince appears with a mischievous smile, my backpack on his back. I finish explaining to them, and we begin our long journey.
Dana goes ahead. I don’t know what happened, but she must have had an argument again with Letum. Not far behind her follows Letum, looking carefully around us.
I remain a little further away from them, hand in hand with Prince. A few steps later, I notice a small wishlove flower that is slightly conspicuous. Whenever I find this flower, I know I’m on the right path. I let go of the Prince’s hand, bend down excitedly with a small smile, and pick up the small flower. But then I see that the little flower is already torn off.
I smell the little flower with my nose. I expect sweet notes of the flower as it invades my senses. However, the smell is accompanied by the irresistible scent of Prince.
Why does this smell like him if we haven’t been here yet–
Wait. He placed this flower in my path. And he hid it so he wouldn’t be caught on.
Realizing this makes my stomach feel like it has lots of butterflies.
‘I want him... I like him,’ Tyra protests.
I can’t stop the smile on my face. I take the tiny flower and tie it into my braid. I don’t look at him, but I can see in the corner of my eye that he’s admiring my smile.
We continue walking hand in hand. Every now and then, he caresses my hand with his thumb, and every time that happens or when I look at the damn flower in my hair, I turn my face to the side so I don’t let him see how much he is making me lower my guard over my heart.
