Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 181: Book 2 - Chapter 14
I clench my fists as I look at her interest oozing all over her face.
I believe in hate and the first sight. I believe it very much.
I approach them, my eyes never leaving her face. Dana sees me first, but I barely glance at her.
I ask, doing my best to keep the annoyance out of my voice. “Who are you?” I point to her with my chin and cross my arms. *And why are you eye fucking him?* I also want to ask.
Tyra is as angry as I am.
‘Ohh! Smooth! Lexi, way to show your jealousy,’ Dana mindlinks me.
‘Fuck you!’ I say to Dana with a straight face, looking at the stranger girl.
I ask Dana to stay with my Prince, not to introduce him to anyone.
Dana holds back her smile, but like a true social butterfly, she starts talking, “This is Lucy. She’s new here. Alpha found her in need of help not so far from here.”
Even though Dana is talking about this Lucy girl, she still keeps looking at Prince, her eyes running over his body like a vicious grip.
Fuck. She didn’t recognize him like her fated mate, did she?
Goddess, please, no!
‘Can you stop doing this face?’ Dana mindlinks me.
‘What face?’
‘Jealous. You look like you want to get your claws into Lucy.’
‘I am *not*.’ I lie.
Lucy turns to Dana, and her smile fades as if she just remembered that Dana was on her side. Lucy is dressed in a simple black outfit that we use post-shift. But just like Letum, her simple outfit doesn’t detract from how attractive she is. She doesn’t have as many muscles as me, so she’s definitely not a warrior. I wonder how my father found her.
Even though the empathy of her reality hovers over me, it evaporates when I remember that she was touching Prince’s face.
She touches Prince’s face again, and Goddess help me, I almost growl. He moves his head back, but she is quicker and puts her hand on his cheek.
Clearing my throat, I churn up my best ‘couldn’t care less’ voice, “What are you doing?”
Prince looks at her, and I bite the inside of my mouth, knowing his eyes are on her and not me.
“He’s so cold. I didn’t know the Alpha also accepted humans in the pack,” she says, still holding his face with her hand.
He gives her a slight smile, probably due to the warmth of her hand; he is still cold. I feel my body boil with anger, but I’m partially glad he doesn’t smile enough to grace her with his adorable dimples.
‘Of course you are *not*,’ Dana scoffs and quips via mindlink.
When she starts rubbing her knuckles up and down his face, that’s the limit for me. Now, she’s crossing a line.
I was about to push her off him. Who does she think she is?
But I stop because Prince moves his head back gently and politely away from her hand and approaches me, his shoulder almost touching mine.
Lucy’s smile fades at his rejection, but she hides it with a grin immediately after.
I run my hand intimately over his shoulder to remove the invisible snow that is only visible on my head for no reason at all. Okay, there is a reason, and it’s to assert dominance. I notice the way her eyes track the movement, and it pleases me.
“It wasn’t long ago that Alpha saved me. I’ve been hearing a lot about you guys from Kyrie,” she tells Dana, “are you hungry?” She turns back to my Prince.
I know how hungry *she* is.
“Ugh, don’t even remind me about that,” Dana runs a hand over her face in annoyance. “I can’t believe my mate isn’t here when I finally arrive. She never leaves this cave. Why did she have to leave just before I arrived?” she asks rhetorically.
“She didn’t know you were coming, Dana,” I state the obvious.
“She really misses you. I don’t know why she left, but it seems like it was something really important,” Lucy replies to Dana.
Hmm. *Interesting*. Now I want even more for my parents to get here soon. This catches my attention.
“I want to go to her. Do you know where she is?” Dana asks me as though I got here before her and had information she didn’t have.
“Absolutely not. You won’t!” I command firmly to her. “You can barely stand, Dana.”
She whimpers and gives up on her crazy idea.
We walked for days without sleeping or eating, the last thing I’d permit is allowing her to venture out in this snowstorm.
Dana’s stomach seems to hear my thoughts and growls just in time. I can relate; I’m hungry, too.
Lucy focuses on Prince again, “Are you guys hungry?” when he doesn’t respond, she giggles. “Wow! He really doesn’t talk, right?” she opens a smirk, “I can feed him!”
“You will not do anything!” I bark at her. Lucy shoots me a fake smile, and I clench my teeth.
I know I have no claim on Prince and no reason to stop Lucy from flirting with him — if he were her fated mate, I’m sure that by the interest in her eyes, she would have already claimed him. But I’ll be damned if this female is going to step in on him while I’m right here.
‘Sure you don’t like him, Lexi,’ Dana mindlinks me with a smugly fucking grin.
My lips tighten into a thin line, refusing to admit it.
Lucy gives me an awkward smile, my eyes catching the sudden way she clenches her fists. “I’ll go get you something to eat while you get settled,” Lucy says with a fake smile, “he can come with me if you want—”
“No need, you can go, we’ll be there soon. Thanks!” Dana answers to her, interrupting me from responding. She gives a curt nod and leaves.
Dana smirks and crosses her arms, as if waiting for me to admit she was right.
‘What? I kissed him, but that doesn’t mean we’re together. Prince can go with her if he wants,’ I mindlink her and shrug.
Dana laughs and scoffs, ‘Stop it, Lexi. You’re just lying to yourself.’
I ignore her and start going in the direction where I usually sleep when I come here, and Dana goes in the other direction where Kyrie sleeps.
My space is much smaller than hers because I don’t have a mate to share with, and I don’t demand a bigger space. We’re hardly here, so I don’t see the need.
Maybe part of me didn’t want to believe we would be here for so long.
I pick up my backpack that is resting near the entrance and continue on my way without saying anything to Prince, but he continues to follow me behind and try to hold my hand from time to time. In all his attempts, I avoid it either by crossing my arms or pretending to carry the backpack with both hands.
I can’t believe I’m mad at him for enjoying the warmth of Lucy’s hand, for laughing at Lucy.
This is a new low for me.
But I want her to know that I’m more than just the person who rescued him, and I am the one here with him. I want to be the center of his attention — and that includes whom he gives his adorable smiles. The one he will be focusing on. Even if we’re not sleeping together.
🐺 🐺 🐺
I can’t keep the smile off my face as I eat with Prince and in a place further away from other people’s eyes.
After Lucy discovered that Letum doesn’t have a mate, she clung close to him and wouldn’t let the poor guy eat in peace. He looks in every direction uncomfortably except at her, but she doesn’t seem to mind it or move away from him.
Poor Letum, little does he know that I’m here rooting for her to continue because if she doesn’t, she’s going to come here to cling to my sweet Prince.
She makes a joke and then laughs. Her forced laugh is loud enough for me to hear from here. Letum doesn’t seem to think it’s funny at all. He continues eating with a frown.
I’ve already finished eating, and I’m waiting for my Prince to finish, too. He takes much longer than me because of all his manners while he eats. I never rush him, but maybe I will today if Lucy comes to us.
He’s starving, so I let him eat as much as he wants.
Earlier, Dana ate and went to rest. She is so sad that I can see from her watery eyes that she went to isolate herself to cry.
I rest my head against the wall, satisfied with my full belly. However, the satisfaction ends when I see Letum getting up and going to his room and Lucy coming towards us.
Fuck.
I look at Prince and notice that he finished eating just in time. Thank Goddess. I take the plate out of his hand, put it in a basin where dirty dishes are kept, and hold his hand as we go to my room.
But she catches up with us before we leave, “Where’s he going to sleep?” she asks me, looking interested.
“It’s none of your business,” I say firmly and leave with him quickly, leaving her mouth open with my retort.
My patience with her is already running out. That was me trying to be patient.
She wisely doesn’t follow us. We walked through some corridors of the cave; the dust is a bit strong in this area near my room; some candles are lit in some places, and some torches in others.
Most people are already sleeping as there is hardly anyone where we pass. I let go of Prince’s hand when I smell Nige approaching behind me.
“Who is he?” Nige asks seriously, and I turn to him.
“I rescued him. He was nearly frozen to death—”
He interrupts me, “He’s human, he—” he cuts himself off when he sees Prince trying to hold my hand. I cross my arms to avoid it. Nige looks at me with his jaw clenched.
“He seems to have lost his memory. He doesn’t know how to speak and doesn’t understand much,” I say to try to cut the tension in the air.
Nige looks at Prince from the top of his head to his feet with disdain. I know that face of his.
“I don’t trust him, Alexa,” he snaps.
“Ask me if I give a shit,” I turn and start walking into my room.
“Is he going to sleep with you?” He asks angrily, a little louder than usual. “There are other places he can—”
I turn sharply to him and place a hand on the bridge of my nose, “Nigel, I’m really exhausted. Can you leave me alone?”
“But—” He stops when I shoot a glare at him.
He leaves my room, stomping on the floor, passing Prince with fury eyes.
“Let’s go to bed,” I say with a small smile as I hold Prince’s hand and guide him to my small bed.
My smile widens, knowing we must hug each other to fit into my bed.
🐺 🐺 🐺
Four days later and my parents still don’t show up.
I started to get more and more worried about them. I’m not the only one, Dana is almost freaking out, wanting to go after Kyrie, but I didn’t allow it.
They may already be almost here. It doesn’t make sense for her to leave aimlessly.
Lucy gave up on Letum. After he vehemently rejected her with words, she stopped pursuing him.
Unfortunately for me, she directed all her energy towards my Prince. She can’t get a fucking grip.
I was already going crazy without having anything to do in the central cave all day until Nige asked me if Letum and I could hunt for the pack as we were running out of food.
It’s not snowing as much as when we arrived, and it would take more than one person to hunt enough for the entire pack.
I was getting ready to go when Prince appeared next to Letum as if he was ready to go along. “You won’t go,” I say, shaking my head.
“Let him go with me. He will help me,” Letum says.
Although it would be risky to let him go with Letum, for me, it is less dangerous than leaving him here in the cave alone with Lucy nearby.
Prince seems happy to get out, probably as bored as I am about staying in one place for so long after walking so much.
These past few days, Letum has stayed with him when I’ve been solving some pack problems while my parents are away. They developed a friendship that I didn’t imagine was possible because Letum is as quiet or quieter than Prince.
Maybe that’s why they became friends. When I tell Prince to go with Letum, he never looks at me sadly. And this pleases me.
Dana has been isolating herself in her room and only comes out when I force her to eat something.
“Okay, you can go with him,” I say, and he smiles. He places his hand on my arm and runs it to my hand. Prince holds it for a moment, but I let go when Nige appears.
We agreed that Nige would go with me. Dana will watch the pack while we are hunting. Rose wasn’t happy with Nige going with me, but she stopped complaining when I asked her to come hunting with us instead. She quickly gave up and *almost* wished us good luck.
We were the first to leave. Letum will go later as he is separating his hunting tools.
Nige tries to talk to me, but I ignore him as we walk. However, he eventually gives up.
‘Lexi,’ Letum mindlinks me. We are now quite far from the cave but still close enough to reach mindlink.
‘What?’ I answer.
Letum answers like he’s speaking through his teeth, barely containing his anger, ‘Just so you know, Lucy decided to come with us to help hunt.’
She — *What*?
