Werewolf
Falling in love with my Ex's Alpha Chapter 80
***Katherine***
I really should have told Kaiden that I had a plan that should be followed faithfully.
My parents ended up finding out in the worst way possible. I can't believe Kaiden did this. I told him how important it was to me.
Why didn't he wait just one more minute?
"What's that boy talking about, Katie?" My dad says firmly, his voice dripping with disbelief.
I open my mouth and close it several times, looking at my parents and Kaiden like a fish dying out of water, but no sound came out.
This wasn't how I imagined telling them. Everything went wrong with my plan from the moment Kaiden suddenly appeared to come to my pack.
"That's exactly what you heard. You're not human, so I imagine you heard what I said. I'm Katherine's fated mate." Kaiden declares my parents.
Kaiden calling me by my name made the situation even more serious, especially because of his frown. The scar on his face gives him an even more authoritative tone as if his Alpha aura that naturally exudes from him wasn't enough.
But I can't deny it. Hearing him call me by my name and not my nickname makes me want to throw myself into his arms, but I hold back so I don't embarrass myself in front of my parents.
"And who are you?" My dad orders the question for him, his alpha aura forcing Kaiden to answer.
I hardly see my dad with such a severe expression; our pack is so calm, and he always treats me with so much affection that I find it strange to see him like this.
I finally react. I go to my dad and mom, and they hug me at the same time, "I miss you, mom and dad," I tell them. They look away from Kaiden and give me attention. A smile is quickly planted on both of their faces.
"We've been missing you too, Sunshine," my mom says as she kisses my forehead. My dad tightens the hug even more, so I know that he agrees with my mom but is tense with Kaiden here.
"Katie?" my dad asks firmly, enough to let him know that there is no way to postpone this situation any longer.
I take a deep breath. It's now or never. "Dad, this is Kaiden. He is Diamond Claw's Alpha." I point to Kaiden while trying to compose myself. My heart is racing more and more due to their reaction. The tension in the room is palpable.
"Kaiden, these are my parents, Alpha Tristan and Luna Emma," I say and swallow hard.
Please, Kaiden, don't do anything stupid.
"Are you the fated mate of Diamond Claw's ruthless Alpha?" My dad asks with a more aggressive tone, and I retreat closer to my mom.
"You won't hurt our daughter!" my mom shouts at Kaiden, placing me behind her as if she were protecting me from him.
"What did you say?" Kaiden shouts at my mom, and my dad immediately goes in front of her to protect her.
"Wait, you don't understand!" I try to explain.
"Katie, we're not going to let anyone force you into anything!" my dad says. I can tell he's controlling himself not to shift right now from his voice.
I come out from behind my mom and try to look at my parents, "Kaiden would never hurt me!" I tell them.
"Everyone says he's a monster. His cruel reputation has reached here at Three Tree. I know enough to know he can't be trusted. Reject him immediately, Katie!" My dad speaks in an authoritarian tone.
"What? No! You're not listening to me! These rumors–"
Kaiden interrupts me and puts me behind him, "I'm not going to let her reject me, even if I have to destroy this entire pack like I've done with several others. She's mine!" Kaiden growls at them.
Great way to make them trust you, Kaiden. Good job. Now everything has become easier.
"Kaiden, you're not helping!" I tell him, while trying to free myself from him. "You wouldn't destroy my pack, would you?" I ask, a little apprehensively.
"I think it's better that you don't risk finding out," he tells me seriously, and I stop trying to get away from him and remain paralyzed, feeling sad at his answer.
"Fuck," he curses and tries to hug me. But I don't let him, I try to let go, and this time, he lets me.
"Even though he's talking like this, a large part of his reputation is built on lies." I tell my parents. "Don't believe everything you hear! I thought it was true too, but it's not."
"So he doesn't kill every full moon for pleasure?" my mom asks hesitantly, her voice a little calmer. It's already something.
"No!" I answer her, "Well, yes, but not in the way you believe. He killed an animal every full moon because of the curse he had. But we discovered that if I'm around during that time, he doesn't need to do that. His wolf doesn't turn into an uncontrollable beast." I try to explain.
I don't mention the part that he has killed people because of this curse. I think this is not a good time for so many details...
"Do you really think they'll believe that?" Kaiden shouts angrily, crossing his arms.
"Why wouldn't we believe it?" My dad asks.
"Isn't it obvious?" Kaiden retorts as if he is upset.
"Did you help him calm down, Sunshine?" My mom expresses softly, and I nod, controlling myself not to cry because I remember his screams of pain that I felt before I knew I could help him. My mom comes up to me and wraps me in a hug, "I'm so proud of you."
Kaiden looks at them in disbelief, his eyes suspicious as if he's expecting more of a fight.
"The other things you heard, I don't think it's up to me to explain to you, but what I can say is that he never hurt me, and I'm sure he never will!"
I would ask Kaiden to confirm what I said, but I'm afraid he'll freak out and say something different.
Kaiden looks at my parents hugging me again and gets furious; with one hand he points in our direction. "What a maddening house! What do you mean you believed her words alone?"
