ALANA

“That is not true!” William snarled at Sophia. “You are just lying! You are trying to frame and implicate Alana right from the very start!”

Sophia shook her head and appealed before the alpha prince. “Alpha prince, I am not lying! That is what my investigation said! Even though I am saddened to know that my sister can do that to the mother of her own mate, the investigation bore the truth and I cannot dare to tamper with it.”

“Alana cannot do that. The queen luna is her instructor. She cannot do such things!” he continued to defend me but the alpha king shot him a look.

“William, enough.”

“But, alpha king!”

He dismissed him by waving his hand. “Let’s hear what she’s going to say first. Tell me the details, Sophia.”

And my sister gladly continued to pin me down more. “As you wish, alpha king. I believe Alana has the motive to kill the queen luna out of everyone here. Even though she is the alpha prince’s mate, her identity and ignorance are mismatched to the reputation of the alpha prince and the queen luna saw it so she must have told Alana about it and so her hate towards her began and she poisoned her! Alana poisoned the mother of her own mate, your luna and wife, alpha king.”

I gasped out loud at the accusation and bit my lower lip when I felt a firm strong hand hold mine.

“I don’t believe her,” William said loudly to everyone in the room. “My mate can never do that to my mother. She is the kindest, most innocent, and most loving person I know and I know she loves every person that I love and support.”

Sophia’s face burned in embarrassment as she clenched her hands together.

Suddenly, the claims of Sophia do not sting anymore. As long as William believes and defends me to these accusations, then I do not care what they’re going to say.

“I can prove what Sophia said to be true, alpha king,” Georgia stepped in. “It’s true that Alana was the one who did this to the queen luna.”

She held some documents in her hand towards us. “This is the sworn affidavit of the cleaners that I tasked to clean the room of Alana and they attested that the floor and the walls have dusts of the wolfsbane in it. The existence of the said toxic plants outside of the laboratories are forbidden and as a mate of the alpha prince, you should know that. So, if I were you Alana, I would confess to the crimes now and ask for forgiveness before the alpha king.”

But I shook my head in confidence. “No, I am not the one who did this to the queen luna. I can never have the heart to poison anyone because I experienced it myself and I would not want anyone to experience the horror.”

I may have doubted myself before thinking that I could do that to the queen luna but with William by my side not even doubting me even for a second, I got more confident that I cannot do that to anyone especially to the woman whom I am starting to share a special bond with.

The alpha king looked at me. “Alana, can you tell me who did this to queen luna?”

I shook my head before him. “I cannot, alpha king.”

I saw how he looked at me curiously. “And why is that?”

“Because I did not conduct any investigation. My time is not enough. I trust that your investigation on this matter would speak out the truth.”

I took out a vial from my pocket and held it out towards him. “I spent all the time you gave us making a medicine that would help the queen luna nurse back into health, alpha king. Waking up the queen luna is the most important thing now, more than knowing who did this to her. Please, alpha king. Give this to the doctors so they can check if this is safe to give to the queen luna.”

“Alpha king, please do not accept anything from the one who poisoned the queen luna! She may actually kill the queen luna this time!” Sophia exclaimed and groveled on her knees.

“Sophia is right, alpha king. Alana is just trying to make herself innocent when she is the mastermind in all of this!”

But I kept my look at the alpha king hoping that my sincerity would reach him.

“I only want queen luna to wake up, alpha king. I meant no harm. I am ready to face death if this medicine would harm her,” I said in all truth.

The alpha king weighed in first deciding. But the decision that I thought would nail me more did not come because the alpha king said something entirely different.

He turned to the bed where the queen luna is already sitting, awake, and not a sign of any illness and weakness on her face. “What do you think, my queen luna?”

All of us gasped in unison at the turn of events. Has the queen luna ben acting sick all this time?

“To be honest, I think all the three ladies acted the way I thought they would. Sophia and George obeyed the alpha king while Alana decided that my safety is the more important thing.”

She smiled at the alpha king. “Thank you for consenting to me doing this. You know, this is what we actually decided to do when we had a date at the forest. It was a form of a test for the three ladies. Technically, the two ladies should not have been part of this since William has already found his mate but my son’s refusal to answer our questions led us to do this.”

The alpha king put his hands on his pockets.

“And these tests will continue until the alpha prince will be ready to stop it by answering all of our questions. The winner of these tests will be determined by the queen luna and whoever she is, whether she is William’s mate or not, will be the alpha prince’s bride.”
