The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 141
ARIA
“Because Zuleik took something from me that I could never move on from. He took the woman that made me the happiest man in this world.”
I paced around the room while his words kept on circling in my head. So, that is the reason why he is hunting us down. It’s not because they are afraid of another rebellion uprising but because he is accusing Zuleik of killing his mate.
That’s what he meant.
“But I thought that he erased his memories with that woman? Does it mean that his heart never forgot her?”
I sat on the bed and sighed. I am envious of his mate. To be able to receive a love as lasting as that would have been really nice.
“But I should not be feeling this!” I reminded myself indignantly. “I am here to kill him because he massacred my people!”
I reached inside my pocket and touched the vial of poison. I only came here for this and nothing but this. I should not be curious about these familiar places and people and feelings.
“Right,” I murmured. “I should set my mind on my goal.”
I stood up to leave the room. I could put some of this in the alpha prince’s food and he would not notice at all.
After that, I would escape the palace as if nothing happened. And maybe, I could also finally accept Zuleik’s marriage proposal and live the way any other lycan is living.
I turned the knob but before I could pull it open, a voice coming from outside startled me enough to abandon my initial plan.
“Fucking open up the door!” Someone kicked the door from the outside followed by incessant loud knocks. “I know you are in there, you fucking whore! Come out woman if you don’t want me to tear this door down!
I recognized her voice. It was from Sophia, the current wife of the alpha prince and I just know from the screeching tone in her voice that she is really more than angry. In fact, I could hear the intention of murder in her voice.
“Bitch, I would claw your eyes right from your sockets right now if you don’t open this fucking door!”
I cannot move because I don’t know what I will be doing next once she sees me.
“Should I just jump out of the window to escape?”
But I bet the guards will suspect me as an enemy and I would just be spilling my identity to the whole palace population and I bet the alpha prince would not lift his finger to save me.
“I gave you a chance, prostitute!” She shouted and the next thing I knew, the door blew right up in front of me and Sophia is a fucking furious sight to behold with her nostrils flared and claws out to make true of her threats against me.
I just know that she should not see me at all. My senses kicked in and I immediately bowed down my head before she could fully look at me.
“I will tear you into bits of pieces and throw your body into the lake, you bitch!”
She ran up towards me with a dagger in her hand while I stood there like a fool anticipating her move so I could defend myself.
Werewolves like her that were born with a silver spoon in their mouth do not really know how to fight and I could easily subdue her but chances are, she would really see my face which I should not let happen.
WILLIAM
“Alpha prince, we captured the woman that you’re talking about.”
I nodded at the guard and walked to the furthest end of the dungeon where we kept prisoners of the war.
The woman is inside the cell with silver cuffs in her wrists but she is not chained anywhere. Just enough to suppress her shapeshifting ability.
“You must be the lycan prince’s mate,” I said and stared down at her. “They call you Lola.”
She glared at me and spat on the ground. “How I wish I am the one you are talking about but I am not the lycan prince’s mate!”
I grinned. Lycan are surely great tricksters. I suddenly remembered Aria and wondered what it was that she planned on doing against me.
“I know he will be back for you and that is what I am waiting to happen.”
Lola bit her mouth and cursed. “Why do you hate him that much when he did not do anything to you?! Why do you hate us so much to murder us all?!”
“Do not ask me that when it was your lycan prince who started it all! We are not the ones who burned people alive! We are not the one who tortured people and stole brutally from them!”
I gritted my teeth as I threw in the last words. “And he almost killed Francine, which I cannot forgive no matter what!”
“Was it really just Francine?” She smirked when I was left speechless. “Was it because of the woman you cannot forget that you failed to save that is why you are trying to blame my lycan prince?!”
“The hell are you trying to say?!”
She stood up wearing that annoying grin on her face as if she knows something that I don’t. “I know the alpha king made sure to erase the memories of that woman in the minds of the people in the palace but she remained in the hearts of the people who love and hate her. And you let it happen right in front of your face. Am I right, alpha prince?”
I gulped the lump in my throat and the guilt I felt for five years now settled in. I don’t know what it is for but I just know that it was there ever since I woke up in my bed that day and felt the emptiness of the other side of my bed as if someone has always been there beside me.
“It must be exhausting trying to conjure her image in your head with all your might but couldn’t,” she continued while enjoying watching me in confusion. “It must be maddening to feel so alone suddenly, alpha prince. But you can never have her back no matter what you do. The woman you have been yearning for will look into your eyes right before you take your final breath and we will laugh at your grave as loudly as we can after that happens.”
