The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 88
ALANA
“You must be Alana.”
I immediately jerked from spacing out in the garden and turned to my side to see an ethereal-looking woman smiling at me.
“Yes?” I asked softly wondering how a beautiful woman like her is talking to me. “Who are you if I may ask?”
Her smile got bigger and her eyes disappeared as she extended her hand towards me.
“I heard you and the alpha prince are very close to each other. I want to be as close with him as you are to him too.”
She took my hand and shook it in a very friendly way. “I am Georgia Berkeley from the pack on the south.”
She looked around the palace and sighed hard. “I miss home but I am slowly trying to get accustomed to myself here. From now on, this will be my permanent home. I’ve asked around about the alpha prince and they all told me that I can ask the three people who are closest to the alpha prince about the likes and dislikes of the alpha prince to know more about him. You are one of the three alongside Lucas and Francine.”
“The alpha prince?” I wondered why she was suddenly talking about William. “What about him?”
Her cheeks turned red and her eyes reflected the same emotion I always see when I am in front of the mirror every day.
“Me and my maids have just arrived here at the palace at dawn.”
Dawn. William also left me this dawn and until now, I am still not in my proper bearing.
“I waited for him to fetch me at the gates but they all told me that he is busy with the wedding rehearsals. Until now, I have not seen or talked with him although it's no big deal to me since we will have lots and lots of time together when we are married.”
Her last word transformed itself into a dagger that pierced right into my heart. I stared at her elegant face devoid of any scars and impurities unlike me.
I looked down into her skin that felt like pearls and porcelains under my hand. I have been fighting the urge to feel inadequate since William never failed to make me feel loved and pretty but this is a different case now.
I am literally standing in front of William’s soon to be wife.
She’s miles and miles ahead of me and I am not even worthy to be compared to her. In all angles and standards, she’s a thousand-fold better than me.
I inhaled sharply as breathing became too laborious. I can feel tears stinging my tears but I was able to hide it by smiling genuinely at her.
She just looks so sweet to me.
“You are the…” I can’t seem to say the word because it would be like surrendering I have with William.
She nodded and scratched her head in a very elegant and feminine way. “Yes, I am the alpha prince’s soon to be wife. Oh gosh, even saying that makes me blush so hard. I never thought that I would be the chosen one out of thousands of girls.”
“C-Congratulations to the two of you,” I said, stuttering and barely holding myself together. “Wi… I mean the alpha prince is a very kind man. You will be a very lucky woman to have him as your husband.”
I am speaking from the bottom of my heart. Whoever is going to be William’s wife will be so lucky to have a man by her side ready to protect and sacrifice everything for her.
“The alpha prince likes to have his food home cooked because he loves the queen luna’s cooking. He likes to tell lots of stories about his adventures. He also loves to go watch the sunset by the lake.”
I paused for a while when our moments together flashed before my very eyes.
“And what are the things he does not like, Alana?” Georgia asked with curious eyes. “Can you tell me the things that he hates so I could avoid doing it?”
I recalled the first time my eyes connected with his when he saved me from the dungeon I am in.
“People who abused others,” I muttered. “The alpha prince does not like people who harm others. He has a really strong sense of justice in him.”
She nodded as if diligently taking a note of everything that I said.
“Ms. Georgia, we have to go back now to the hall because the alpha prince has already arrived,” one of her maids walked in and said in a tone enough for me to hear.
Her eyes widened in excitement before glancing at me gratefully. “Alana, we have to go. Thank you for imparting your knowledge to me. See you later at our wedding.”
“Yes, thank you so much too,” I replied and waved them goodbye.
I went back to the room and glanced at the table for two that I arranged for the two of us.
Up to the last thread, I am still holding onto the last breath that William will come to the room, smile at me, and ask me to have breakfast with him. Only then will I know that he will not marry that very beautiful woman.
But as the time wears on, that hope I have been clinging onto desperately starts to wear off.
“Francine? Do you know where William is?” I finally had the courage to ask her when I knocked on her room.
I know where William is now. I was just trying to find someone that I could share my sentiments with.
I saw how hesitation crossed her eyes before she smiled at me.
“He is doing an important errand today, Alana. You can think of it as a business engagement. There is nothing personal going on with it.”
I blinked, sighing deep inside. “Oh, I see. Thank you.”
I went back to the room and my eyes landed on the table again. The flowers are still fresh but the food I cooked for William is already cold.
I felt empty inside. I hugged myself and sighed to keep my tears from falling but then I remembered Georgia and her name written next to William’s name in the invitation card and I lost it all.
My mate is going to be married to another woman. William will never be my husband. He lied to me. He said there will be no lies but then, he is the first one to turn his back on me by marrying another woman.
I cried for hours hoping for thousands of seconds that the door would burst open and William would come in for me.
“His wounds had not healed yet but then he is going to get married today,” I said while wiping my tears and hugging the pillow that he used last night.
Suddenly, I froze when I felt something hard inside it.
I sat on the bed with red eyes and took something inside the pillowcase to reveal a small hard paper.
He left a note under his pillow saying, ‘Please trust me my love.’
“Trust me, my love,” I repeated trying to remember something from last night.
“Would I be a jerk if I still ask you to keep on trusting me, Alana?”
I wiped off my tears and jumped out of the bed dashing out of the room with a note in my heart, my feet already knowing where to go.
