The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 29

Alana

The day of going to Roan, the place where I will be teaching the kids, comes. The bags are packed and all the necessary documents have already been secured too.

I am in the cabin house hoping against hope to at least say goodbye to William. Francine is with me who is busy watering the plants around the house.

Dangling my feet onto the stairs, I looked at the path from the forest where I usually see William coming towards me bringing food for the two of us.

It seemed too menial for the alpha prince but I always see him happy doing that even Francine told me that he has never seen him this happy while carrying food for someone.

“Francine, is William busy? I haven’t seen him since yesterday.”

She glanced at me and shook her head. “I am sorry our lady but the alpha prince hasn’t come home since yesterday. He went to an official event ordered by the alpha king.”

I looked down to prevent a sigh from coming out. Last night, he called me to say goodnight but he did not tell me about it.

“Oh, is that so? Francine, do you have any idea what time he will be back?”

“I am sorry Alana but he did not tell me. I have his number. You also have his number too. Do you want to call him?”

“No. He must be busy too. I will just be waiting for him.”

And so the hours tick by so quickly that before I knew it, three hours had gone by.

“Alana, the bus going to Roan will be departing. I will escort you there.”

Francine is on the lawn holding both of my luggage while I am still staring at the walkway expecting William’s face to pop up out of nowhere. He knows that today we will be leaving.

“Is William back? Have you seen him, Francine?” I still asked even though I know the answers already.

“No, he hasn’t come back yet.”

Worry sprung in my heart. He’s been gone for two days. Did something happen? No, I shook my head. He is alright. William is just so busy.

“I hope he is safe. I wanted to see him before I go but I guess I could wait until the whole month is over,” I whispered before taking in a sharp breath to keep myself from crying.

Francine put an arm around my shoulder and gently yanked me forward so we could walk together. “I will tell him that for you, our lady. Don’t worry.”

When we reached the bus, I was the only one that wasn’t on board. Filled with tears, I hugged Francine who just chuckled and hugged me back like a toddler. I will miss her. I know one month will just fly by but still, I will miss them especially William.

“Please take good care of yourself there, Alana. I will call every day. I am sure that William will see you every day there.”

I bit my lip to prevent myself from sobbing.  “Thank you, Francine. Please take good care of yourself and William too.”

I waved at her from my window seat and started crying. It will take more than five hours to reach the destination so I decided to sleep for a while when the bus suddenly halted.

“What is happening? Why do we stop?”

They began asking each other. Disoriented, I looked outside to see sleek cars by our side that were stopping the bus. Royal guards are also teeming by our side as if protecting someone so high-profile.

“The convoy of the alpha prince has stopped to inspect.”

I froze when the driver informed everyone through the microphone.

“William is here?” I murmured excitedly and looked out of the window.

Is he really here? Where is he?

I will still be able to see his face before I leave!

“All are requested to go down…” the soldier sternly ordered everyone, his eyes stopping at me, “except you lady because you will inspect the bags.”

“Oh, okay.”

But to my confusion, the soldier left and a man that I have been yearning for two days climbed the stairs up.

“Alana…”

I immediately stood up and run towards him practically throwing myself at him. Giggling, he happily welcomed my weight and buried his face on my neck to sniff it.

“I thought… I thought I am not going to see you before I go,” I said on the verge of tears.

“Do you think I will let that happen?” he answered, his eyes staring at my face as if what he is seeing is a very lovely creature.

I scanned his face, my heart melting in pity for him. The stubbles on his chin are growing and he looked like he stayed up the whole night with all those eye bags. “You looked so exhausted. You still haven’t slept?”

He pulled my waist closer to his and smiled at me teasingly. “Why? Do I look like a barbarian now?”

“No, you are still as handsome as the day I first met you.”

He erupted into a laughter which is one of the things that I would surely miss. “You really have a way with your words.”

He took out a letter from his pocket and put it in my hand. “This is for you. I will see you tomorrow, okay? Do not miss me too much although I can’t say that to myself.”

“Tomorrow? But Roan is so far from the capital and you have responsibilities here, William!”

He pinched my cheeks lovingly. “Leave it to my baby. I will always make a way.”

“Alpha prince, we have to go. The queen luna must not be suspicious,” Lucas said from the door of the bus.

I did not notice him right away since William is all I ever see.

William sighed disappointingly and hugged me again. “I have to go. I will see you, okay?”

“Okay, take care.”

He turned his back at me but his feet slowed down and before I knew it, he was in front of me pulling me back into his arms and kissing my head.

And then he left silently while I slowly sat back in my seat holding the tears in my eyes.

Can I really survive a month there? I know he told me he will come but I also know there are possibilities that he cannot go since he is so busy as an alpha king.

“Are you happy now, our lady?” someone whispered to me by my side when the bus began moving again.

I moved my head to the side only to see her. “Francine?! Why are you here with me? Should you always be by William’s side?”

She winked at me. “I volunteered too, our lady. We will both be teaching the kids in the rural area for a month. Besides, the alpha prince has Lucas by his side. He can survive without me.”

I suppressed a smile while pressing the letter that William gave to me. I am sure Francine did not volunteer. William sent her for me.

The alpha prince is truly a kind and thoughtful man.

“I am pleased that you finally smiled, our lady.”

That smile even got wider when I smelled the letter that smelled of him. I can’t wait to see him again.
