The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 114
ALANA
We are back in the forest for the continuation of the competition. The two girls are their attendants but I only have Lucas with me who acted like he is my mate throughout our trip back in the woods.
“We are on the third of the five tests that we have prepared for the three contestants vying to be the alpha prince’s wife. For this test, we will look into the lineage marking. We are on the ancestry hunt. We will look into their family origin to know if their bloodline clashes with that of the alpha prince’s.”
I scratched the back of my hand with every word that came out of the mouth of the announcer beside the queen luna. The note Francine gave me from William says it all.
He said the queen luna plans on looking into the family structure of each representative.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and shook off the cold feeling that seeped through me.
Bloodline hunting. Lineage marking.
How can I tell them that I am the granddaughter of the former alpha king that the current alpha king killed? How can I tell them that I am not the real daughter of Alpha Killian? How can I tell them that the alpha abused and treated me like a beast because he is angry that the wife he got was already pregnant with the child from the other man?
How can I tell them that aside from being the granddaughter of their enemy, I am also half lycan who is the number one current enemy of the alpha king in the present?
I am their enemy in all angles. I do not have the right to stand here and continue fighting for my spot next to William.
“I am trusting you, Alana. Please, do not be discouraged. Do not dampen your heart for I am always here by your side. Please trust me too. We will get through this. Just hang in there. I love you.”
Those words from William just put a strength in my heart again, straightening my back and nodding at the announcer.
Sophia chuckled by my side while Georgia gave me a side eye but I just focused my eyes forward sniffing the scent William left for me in the place.
He may not be physically here but he still managed to be here with me in his own little ways. Lucas noticed the smell in the air and growled in a low tone.
The queen luna stepped in to give the instructions of the test so I put my whole attention on her.
“The test we will be having today would be the simplest. In the heart of this forest is a century-old shrine of the moon goddess. You are to shift into your wolf, hunt for a sacrifice in this forest, and offer it to the moon goddess. After that, you will cut a part of your skin and offer a trickle of your blood towards the moon goddess so the sacrifice will be activated. If the sacrifice will be accepted or rejected depends upon the good deeds that your lineage did. This time, if any of you gets rejected by the moon goddess, you will be eliminated from the competition instantly.”
I gulped to wet my already dry throat.
Did my ancestors do something good? I really hoped that they did because I have no idea about them. I have not really looked much into the history of my family because I was too afraid to accept my identity.
“You will not be accompanied by your servants or even attendants. You will do everything on your own.”
I nodded even though I have no idea how to transform and let alone to kill a sacrifice on my own. Would the moon goddess accept a small hare from me?
“Now at the count of three, off you go!” the announcer shouted. “One, two, three!”
Sophia and Georgia immediately shifted into their wolves and disappeared into the forest while I stood there awkwardly still in my human form.
“You can opt to not continue, Alana,” Lucas said and held my arm intentionally so everyone heard us. “You don’t have to force yourself to do this, Alana. I’m sure William will understand.”
His voice is so soothing towards me that it caught the attention of the queen luna.
I pushed him away and stopped my heart from racing out of its cage. “I can do this, Lucas. I will do this.”
I ran to the woods to try to chase my competitors away but it’s already too late because they were already far away from me. Without me shifting into Malaika, there is no way I can chase after them.
I closed my eyes and swallowed my saliva remembering its taste that produces a certain smell.
And with that smell, I began to forge a trail leading me into a path towards a small tree.
I stopped in front of it where the smell led me. I stepped forward behind the tree and sighed in gratefulness.
There was already a freshly-killed deer waiting for me in the spot where William told me in the note.
Smiling, I picked it up and put it around my shoulder, its fresh blood dripping from my body down to the ground.
“Now, where is that shrine of the moon goddess?”
I began my arduous journey through the thick foliage and some animals who wanted to take a bite of my deer.
“No, not this!” I growled at the tiger that I came face to face with. “Go find your own little kitty because I am not going to let you take the first bite. This is my first holy sacrifice to our goddess.”
The tiger, sensing that it cannot take me, turned its back and ran back to the woods.
I sighed and continued to go on my own way walking deeper into the forest to find the shrine to offer my sacrifices.
An hour into the journey, I just felt something in the air that changed. The forest seemed colder than I remembered it to be and a shadow began to make its presence known to me.
