The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 41
William
I tried my very best to perform my duties as the alpha prince in the dominion but each second and hour that passed by felt like eternity. I quickly hurried to the cabin house when the clock struck lunchtime carrying food only for me to end up eating it all alone.
I found myself staring into the emptiness imagining what Alana is doing and then smiling bitterly when my room greeted me back silently.
It hasn’t been a day since Alana left back to her village but it already felt like she’s gone for decades.
It sucks feeling this way. It felt like I had just tasted death in each moment that I did not see her.
Finally, when dusk came, I went into the security team in charge of the ambassadorship to check up on my mate.
“Can I ask you about the update on Alana? I tried calling them but no one is answering me,” I said pertaining to Francine not answering her phone when I called her. I just thought she did not have a signal or maybe she’s attending to Alana. I also cannot reach Lucas so despite the fact that I know the alpha king will know this, I still barged in their office to ask the head staff. “I just want to know how she’s doing. Is she alright?”
The man in a suit bowed before me and led me to a soundproof room. “Alpha prince, I am sorry but I got no information about Alana too. It seemed like no one in the castle was talking about them. I also tried talking to the other informants but no one knew. I am sorry, alpha prince.”
I sighed. Just as I thought. The alpha king ordered them to not give me any information.
“Oh, okay.”
I headed back into the lake where Alana and I used to sit in silence while I tell her my stories of my adventures. Out of the blue, my phone rang and I sprung up to my feet when I saw that it’s Francine.
“Francine, how’s Alana? Did her father do anything to her? Tell me everything. What did he do to her this time?! I swear it’s such a bad decision to let her go back. I am going there to get her back.”
She chuckled on the line. “Too excited, aren’t we? Do not worry, William. Everything went well here. Your mate bit them back.”
“Bit them back? What do you mean by that?”
“Yes, that’s right. Alana is such a fierce wolf that she growled at them and made them see who’s on the top now. She showed the brave and fearless Alana.”
Pride swelled in my heart. I know Alana is not going to let those maggots step on her. She’s such a brave girl now.
“Oh… how is she? Is she resting? I want to hear her voice,” I sounded like I was begging but who cares?
The alpha prince is begging to hear his mate’s voice. Who cares? No one should!
“She’s in the field speaking with some teachers. Do you want me to call her?”
“No, no. Thank you, Francine.”
I turned off the phone and went into the room when I remembered to call Lucas. And what a great relief it was when he answered on the first ring.
“Lucas, how’s Alana? Don’t tell me those scumbags did anything to her?! Where is she? Is she safe? Are you keeping an eye on her?”
I heard her laughter on the line and happiness filled me again. My wolf reacted and all I wanted was to embrace her this instant. I miss her so much. I miss my mate so much.
“Do not worry, alpha prince. We made sure that Alana is very safe here from her family. The lady has been especially courageous too. This morning, she had a talk with some of the education sector here and she’s just glowing.”
The way he said that to me knowing that he witnessed it all felt like a punch in my gut. I should have been there seeing my mate being brave and stomping those scums. I should have been by her side smiling at her for doing such a good job.
“Oh, that’s nice. I’ll call again before her bedtime. I… I want to hear her voice.”
The call ended without me hearing her voice again.
“Did she even need me at all there?” I said and let out a harsh sigh.
This fucking jealousy is eating me up.
A knock on the door woke me up from sulking and my mother came inside in surprise. “William, I have been looking for you everywhere. Why are you still not dressed?”
“Mom…” I looked up to her wanting to tell her all.
I should tell her that Alana is my mate so she will be back by my side but Alana’s identity and troubled past stopped me from doing so.
No, I have to protect her. I cannot tell her now. Alana will be more in danger.
She cradled my face and smiled at me like a doting mother to her five-year old boy. Ever since my mother learned that she cannot have another baby, she has been treating me like a baby since forever which I am quite unsettled for the most part.
“The banquet is going to start. Come on. The alpha prince cannot be missing in his own party.”
I went down like I was instructed into the sea of lights and guests who are particularly just women and ladies wanting to be my bride.
All I want to do is to get out of here and fly to where Alana is. I want to smell her. I want to hug and kiss her so badly. Being away from her is just pure torture.
“What’s that look in your face, William?” Belinda’s hand went down onto my chest. For the whole night, she did not leave me and would hiss at any woman who would come my way. “Want me to take your mind off whatever your problems now? Hmm?”
Belinda is a very attractive woman and I know any man would want someone like her to be their wives but I felt nothing for her. Only disgust like she’s a plague I need to avoid at all cost.
I glared at her. “Stop it.”
She just smiled seductively at me and licked her bottom lip. “Oh, come on, William. You will like it too. I heard about your philandering in your teenage years. It can’t possibly be gone in a blink of an eye. Besides, you haven’t found your mate so it will not be technically a sin, right?”
Except that I had already met my one and only mate, I wanted to say but could not.
“I said stop.” I took her hand off my chest and tossed it away in a brisk manner. “You are not what I need now and you will never be one.”
I placed my glass on the table and left the party and Belinda who was starting to cry.
“I am sorry Belinda. The alpha prince might not just be in the mood today,” I heard my mother say, but I was too angry with myself to care.
Why can’t I keep my mate beside me? Why can’t I protect her more?
“William! William! Come back here!”
My mother caught my arm right outside the garden. She’s livid that is evident by the red flush on her face.
“Mom, please. Not now. I am such a wreck today that I might yell at anyone who will try to ask me anything.”
“Son, what is happening to you?” She held both of my shoulders. “Why are you being like this? You used to like parties like this.”
“I did not like parties like this. I just pretended that I like it because I want to meet my mate the soonest possible but now, it has become so boring and unimportant,” I blurted out of my frustration. The last thing I want to do is to hide Alana like this but that is exactly what I am doing.
“Mom, please. I have to get out of here before I ruin everything,” I said before walking away towards my horse to take me back to the place where I can still sense Alana’s presence.
