ALANA

I ran towards the hall without any care of what I look like. If my instincts are right, then William is asking me to trust in him whatever happens which translates to me being there witnessing how it will happen.

I crossed the huge lawn towards the hall where the great doors are already closed. Panicking because I might not make it, I doubled my speed but stumbled on the stone on the ground.

“Alana!” Lucas, who came out from nowhere, readily helped me to get up and shake off the dirt on my legs.

“Thank you so much, Lucas,” I said and moved away from him to continue my journey.

I cannot be late to the ceremony. I have to be inside the halls now.

But Lucas caught my arm to stop me. “Where are you going?”

“To William. I will see him. I need to see him.”

Pity registered in his eyes as he tried so hard to conceal it. “But William is not here, Alana. He left for a business meeting. He will not be back until tomorrow.”

I smiled at him and slowly pulled my arm from his grip. I am thankful to him for trying to protect my feelings but I am not as weak as the Alana that he first met. I think I can deal better with heartbreak and pain now. I think I have grown that much under their support and care.

“You don’t have to lie, Lucas. It’s okay. I know the truth that today is William’s wedding at the main court in the palace.”

He gasped as colors on his face drained away. “H-How?”

I shrugged and tried my very best to look not as sad as I am feeling inside. “I just know. He is my mate. I will know if he’s hiding something from me.”

“And yet, you are still going there? Are you out of your mind? Why do you want to still see it when you know you are just going to get hurt?!” His voice is raised a bit higher than I always hear it from him.

My heart warmed for a bit knowing that people like him and Francine have been way too caring for me. Their loyalty should only be to the alpha prince but then they extended it towards me.

I remembered the note William left for me.

“Because I trust him, Lucas,” I whispered the words out. “My instincts are telling me to go to his wedding and witness it for myself.”

“Alana, you just don’t make sense right now. Why would you go there just to get your heart broken? Please spare yourself of the heartache. Please let me accompany you back to your room.”

He stepped towards me but I moved back and shook my head firmly at him.

“Lucas, please don’t stop me. I want to go. I need to go to him. I should be there no matter what happens. Whether I get hurt and see him get married right before my very eyes would be on me. I promise I will handle the pain.”

We looked at each other for a few seconds before he sighed and surrendered.

“Okay, if that’s what you want. It’s not like I can shield you from it when I was not even your mate.”

He held my arm gently. “I’m not going to stop you now but unless you want all eyes gawking at you there in a very bad way, I won’t go back to the room and fix myself. Although you already look effortlessly beautiful, I know a little more combing and changing your pajamas would be more beneficial to you.”

I looked down at my clothes and gasped. Only now did I realize that I would be attending a wedding wearing a nightgown and a robe.

“But they already started,” I muttered while biting my lip in worry.

“Trust me, the official ceremony has not begun.” He pulled my hand as he brought me into the room where Francine is looking like she’s been waiting for me already.”

“I can see that Alana convinced you already to follow her,” she said jokingly and smiled at me. “Come on, child. I am going to make you so pretty, stunning, and beautiful that the alpha prince would punch himself in the gut for even going to that fucking wedding.”

Lucas just shook his head and left while Francine worked wonders on me in just a few minutes. She made me wear the baby pink dress that William gifted me but never worn.

When I looked in the mirror, I just gasped to see the woman staring right back at me. I have learned how to take care of myself as the ambassadress but not this way. Francine just transformed me into the prettiest version that I have seen myself with. The soft make-up somehow did not show much about the sadness gnawing me inside.

“Would it be really okay to be there looking like this, Francine?” I asked in doubts.

I don’t really want to cause a ruckus inside because all I want to witness is how William would gain my trust back.

“Alana, everyone should know there in the hall to whom the alpha prince’s heart belongs. They might not know that you are William’s mate. Werewolves react to vibrations and energy, not just to what they see. Once you are there, the sparks will fly between the two of you and they will know right away that you belong to William and he belongs to you.”

Her words gave me a boost of confidence when I went out of the room to an admiring gaze from Lucas who can’t help but just stare at me for a few seconds.

“Lucas?” I waved at him. “Is the ceremony starting now?”

“Oh,” he said as if waking up from a dream as he led the way for me. “It will start in a few minutes. Come on.”

He escorted me into the other entrance of the hallway and pointed at the empty chair for me to sit on.

“Good luck. We will only be outside waiting for the two of you.”

“Thank you.”

When he left me alone in the sea of strangers, that’s when I felt the most vulnerable. I clenched my hands as I felt their eyes on me. Some were whispering with each other as they looked at me while a few were openly staring in awe giving me the urge to just stand up and flee.

But I held on for William. I trust him so much. I have faith in him.

The hallway became silent as the great doors were opened and the couple came in. Georgia looked so elegant in her white wedding dress while her hand is clinging on William’s arm whose eyes are fixed intently on the front.

I gasped for air when my heart began racing out of its cage not in happiness but in so much pain seeing my mate with another woman walking towards the altar to get married before the priestess of the moon goddess.

My mate… the one I have been wanting to come back to this morning looked so dashing with his soon to be wife on his side.

Jealousy sprung up inside me and a newfound emotion held me in prison.

“William…” I muttered when he passed by my aisle.

He stopped walking and looked around as if in a trance. And when he found my eyes, our gazes connecting, I just wanted to burst into tears especially when I saw a smile of relief out of him as if saying ‘there you are. You finally show yourself to me. You really trust me, Alana’.

Instead of feeling concerned or shocked to see me, he laughed happily, took Georgia’s hand from his arm, and walked out from her.

Everyone gasped in shock especially when William stopped right in front of me as my eyes widened.

All eyes are on us now, especially the alpha king and the queen luna who stood up from their seats in the center aisle.

William held out his hand to me and I accepted it with all that I am.

“William!” The alpha king’s voice reverberated in the entire place.

“Alpha king, queen luna, I can’t marry anyone today!” William announced to the shock of everybody.

He raised our entwined hands together and grinned at me.

“How can I marry anyone when I just found my mate?” He glanced back at his parents. “Alana is my mate, alpha king, and she is the one I am going to marry.”
