My world literally stopped and time was frozen in my head. The only thing that registered to me is the cold body of William in my arms as I cried like crazy begging him to stay.

“William, no… please no!”

I saw how hard he started blinking hard to keep his eyes wide open so he could look at me.

I gripped his hands as my tears began blinding me. I wanted to burst into more tears when I felt his hands in mine getting colder than ever.

“William, you cannot give up now, okay? You are right. They are here now. The alpha king and queen luna defeated their enemies. You are right when you told Lucas that they are so strong together.”

From a close distance, the werewolf soldiers are starting to overwhelm the remaining lycans. Headed by the alpha king and queen luna who are both in their magnificent white wolf forms, they quickly finished the enemies.

I caught my breath when my heart began to tighten opposite of William’s essence that is already starting to be whisked away by the air. “Can we be like them too? Can we be strong together too? We have come this far already. Please, s-stay with me for more years, okay?”

He opened his mouth to say something but could not make out the words because he started to run out of breath.

When he started closing his eyelids, that’s the time when I let out a long howl and began shaking his body as if I am trying to chase him over.

If only I could, I would get into his consciousness and pull him back to me.

I started panicking but I felt like I was frozen in time seeing him like this. “William, you cannot leave me, okay? You cannot!”

I know I am already being selfish at this point but what can I do? I badly want to live the rest of my life with me. I cannot accept this! There will be no accepting this at all!

I moved towards his leg and sucked the poison out of his system in a futile attempt to reverse the potency of the poison. I tasted death in my mouth but that did not stop me at all.

It’s not too late! I can still suck out the poison from his system even when it already reached his heart.

I want William. He is the only person in this world that I want to be with. I love this man so much. If he dies, then I will die too!

“William…” I spoke his name and howled like crazy when he did not respond anymore.

His breaths are also starting to feel shallow and slow.

I heard footsteps stopping in front of me. Wiping off the blood on my mouth, I raised my face to the alpha king who was looking down at his only son in the most forlorn way.

He blinked and fixed his eyes on me. I met his gaze and I could only shake my face in defiance.

He knew that I am Alana. He knew all along. I can read that in his eyes.

Five soldiers stepped in waiting for the command of the alpha king on what to do with us, especially the alpha prince.

“Alpha king, we need to take the alpha prince from here. The poison is so potent that it could travel in the air and could harm you and every one of us. It already reached the heart of the alpha prince and is in the last stage to be communicable to people a few meters from the host body,” the chief doctor said to the alpha king.

“He is right, alpha king. Please, we also need you to step away from here. We can handle this,” another doctor said.

My eyes remained connected with the alpha king. Even if that is the case, I will still not leave William. I will not leave him alone.

We will be together until the end so that even death cannot separate us.

The alpha king stared at us intently before keeping his emotions to himself and addressing the soldiers. I saw how hard he clenched his hands on his side seeing his only son and heir succumbed to death right before his very eyes.

“You heard her! Do not separate the alpha prince from his mate!”

Somehow, those words comforted me in a way knowing that they finally acknowledged me as the alpha prince’s mate despite the odds and the truth that I am sure the alpha king already knew from the very start.

“You heard the alpha king, William. He will let us be together.” I smiled sadly and let my tears fall on his face. “I will not leave you alone. I will be here beside you until…” I gasped for breath when my voice broke, “until the end, William.”

Caressing his face, I leaned in his ear and whispered the words that sounded so depressing now. “William… I love you with all of me. Please live for me. Please, my love. You promised me forever.”

I said that even though I know it is already impossible. I said that even though I know I will not hear his voice anymore.

But it’s not wrong to ask for miracles, right?

I looked up at the moon that is beginning to turn back into its original color.

But his body got colder and colder and I felt his hand slipping away from my grip. No matter how I catch his hand, it starts to get loosened out of my clasp until I cannot feel his presence anymore.

My voice trembled.
