I looked at my beta blankly who’s standing there awkwardly following Alana’s back until she closed the door of the bathroom.

“What do you want as early as now, Lucas?”

I went to the closet and took out another robe and put it around me. “What did the alpha king want you to do this time? Isn’t it enough that he ordered you to spy around me? Does he want you to be my dog this time around?”

He just clenched his jaws and shook his head. “None of that is true, alpha prince. I only came here to ask you to let me take Aria to the hall because the queen luna asks to see her.”

“Why?” I asked, acting possessive all of a sudden. “What is the business of my mother snooping around with my woman when I am already single and available? Remember, that I am already a divorced man, Lucas.”

“I deeply understand that, alpha prince, but your parents still considered you to be married to Lady Sophia. The alpha king is still not accepting your divorce.”

I narrowed my eyes on him. “Are you telling me that you are questioning my authority to decide for myself?! When I say that I am a divorced man, then I am that man! Sophia is going to you and you are going to be married to her. That’s final! Do you understand?!”

Still clenching his teeth, he bowed his head before me. “Yes, alpha prince.”

I laughed mimicking my cruel self when I had not regained my memory as I patted him from the back like I always did to him. “Good! Good job, Lucas! You are finally listening to me!”

Restraining myself to chop off his head from his shoulders this instant, I gripped his shoulders instead. I never realized that Lucas will be one of the people who will betray. He’s my loyal beta. We were together since we were kids because the alpha king made sure that we will grow together to affirm his loyalty towards me.

But all of that changed when he realized that Alana is also his mate. That’s why he wants me to push to the brink so he could have everything that I have. He could easily contest my birthright once he successfully worsens my public personality because he already knew every responsibility that the alpha king should carry.

“Now, tell me more about the queen luna. Why would she be asking to see my Aria?”

He raised his red face on me, embarrassment all over his face. I guess bowing before me is a little too shameful for him now.

“Alpha prince…”

“Kneel,” I ordered him.

He gritted his teeth and knelt before me.

“Good. Now tell me the reason, Lucas.”

His neck became red too when I asserted my dominance as his alpha. His knuckles are white from clenching too hard on his sides.

“Alpha prince, I don't really know the reason for the queen luna. She just ordered me to bring her the woman.”

“Why would she even ask you that when she could directly tell me that?”

I beckoned him to stand up. “Come on. Accompany me to the queen luna so I would know her reasons for doing so.”

Lucas gulped especially when he glanced to the bathroom door before he nodded knowing that he could never outwit me.

With only my bathrobe on, I faced the queen luna who was too mortified to see water running down from my body.

“William!” My mother stepped down from her throne and asked for a towel and began drying myself. “Why did you come here like this? What if you get sick?”

I just smiled at her. “Mother, my beta is just too excited to tell me that you want to meet the woman that I am currently with now. I am enjoying her company and we were in the middle of doing so when Lucas interrupted us.”

“Oh,” was all she could say while blinking several times.

My heart hurts too seeing the look of confusion on my mother’s eyes while looking at me who seemed like a stranger compared to the William that she reared into this world.

But I can’t help it because I cannot lose Alana again. I will protect her no matter what. I will not let her slip from my hands again.

“By the way, mom,” I glanced back at Lucas on the corner who seemed disturbed that the queen luna forgot about Aria. “Since I am already here, I want to ask you for a favor.”

The joy on her face is incomparable when I asked her that I felt a bit guilty. Since when did I bond with my mother the past years? I’ve only dismissed her and spent my days outside the palace killing packs.

“What is it, William?” She reached for my hands. “Tell your alpha queen and I will give you all the favors.”

A grin secretly formed in my mouth. “I want the wedding of Lucas and Sophia to be fast-tracked. I’m sure my beta will like that too, right Lucas?”

Alarm showed all over his face when he ran to my side. “Alpha prince, that is the least thing that I want in the present!”

Glaring at him, I put him right on his proper place.

“That’s an order, Lucas. Do you dare to go against my orders now?! Are you really going to let me see how hard headed you have become?”

Breathing out a sigh, he shook his head like he’s just being forced. “No, alpha prince.”

I laughed and patted him in the back. “Heard that, mother? Lucas is so eager to have a wife now and he’s so thankful that I gifted him to my ex-wife!”

My mother smiled too. “Very well. I will ask my staff to organize the wedding immediately.”

Lucas wants to speak but I made sure to make him feel unwelcome.

That night, Sophia and Lucas have been married in the hallway and while their eyes showed nothing but disgust and indifference towards each other, I am out in the corner drinking, dragging the time when I could go back to my room to be with Alana.

I cannot wait to tell her about what happened today.
