I smiled proudly at Alana when I saw her extremely handling her temper well and controlling her urge against Sophia. She took several breaths and dealt with her abuser like a brave woman that she is.

My girl is having fun over there with Sophia so I am not going to spoil her parade and I will give her all the sweet moments she needs.

“Alpha prince, do not be too happy with that,” Zuleik interrupted with my happy thoughts while spitting out blood from his mouth because of the punch that I landed on him before we stopped to look at what’s happening with the women. “Aria is a mix of a normal werewolf and lycan. She is also cursed. She could very well handle it now and then burn the entire palace the minute after.”

“Alana is her name and she is my mate,” I said firmly.

Zuleik laughed and opened his arms to the sky. “She is no longer your mate! You fucking rejected her! And even if you did not reject her, your mark on her neck would continue to melt until nothing of it is left. Look what mark is on her neck right now! That was from me! It’s mine! Aria is mine! It’s my saliva and teeth tasting her skin! She is my mate so I can do whatever I want with her! I could have molested her if I wanted to. I will after I am done killing you! I will make sure to give her to my men too so they could have a taste of what makes the alpha prince so crazy about her.”

My eyes narrowed darkly at him as I surged through him kicking him in the face and hushing him down to the ground with my feet grinding his face flat to the dirt.

I could have stomped harder to bury him forever to the ground but my sadistic self kicked in. Going and winning wars exposed me to torture fetishes. I would like to try all those kinds of tricks on him and relish at how he would beg night and day for me to kill him.

“Alana is my mate,” I said, gritting my teeth. “And I am her only man through and through. Someone like you does not deserve to even be considered her mate. After I am done with you Zuleik, I will make sure to erase your name in the world. You will be painted as the ruthless nameless lycan prince that everyone would despise. No one would remember you and your clan. It would be a crime to utter your useless name!”

He tried to wiggle off from my grip but I only weighed him down deeper. I wished I could bury him right now but he needed to know who he was messing with.

The alpha prince of the state will not let anyone off the hook especially if someone messes with his one and only woman.

But before I could even cut off Zuleik’s nose, someone grabbed me from behind and threw me to the tree.

“You should not turn your back even for a second from your enemy, William. That could be a death blow for you.”

I stood up, sucking up the blood from my burst lips. That was a hard hit but it did not sting that much compared to the emotional attack he employed on me.

He ran up to me half-transforming into his wolf but I was able to ward off his attack in one whip.

I looked intently at Lucas and then began laughing afterwards. I just know that this would happen but I just did not know that it would happen sooner.

“I see that you have finally shown your true colors, Lucas.” I stretched my neck from side to side without peeling my flaming eyes from him. “The blood of betrayal in you cannot be really erased. Your whole family betrayed the alpha king and now it is your turn to betray me. Did I do anything bad to you for you to do this to me?”

But he just stared at me blankly. “Give Alana to me and let us go, William. Everything would be over if you only gave me my mate.”

I laughed emptily and sighed hard to keep my composure.

“You only want Alana because she is mine. Everything that I have and I own, you also want them to be yours, Lucas.”

“I gave you enough time to be with her! I did not blink when I realized that she is my mate too! I just let you be the hero that you always wanted to be!”

“Bullshit!” I growled and shifted into my wolf.

He also transformed into his wolf and met me in the air as we fell tumbling and grappling savagely at each other onto the grass, our blood turning the green blades into red.

He bit my neck but I managed to claw his face, tearing one of his eyes down. Blood spurted out from his eyes but that did not stop us.

We continued rolling onto the dirt as no one was letting the other one go. Trees fell down, werewolves and lycans who are trying to stop us are getting killed along the way.

“I treated you like a brother, Lucas. Francine treated you like her own son but look what you've done to her! You fucking betrayed her!”

Lucas just smiled bitterly at me, his whole face almost ripped out from his body. “That’s right, William! I do not have anyone beside me so you should give Alana to me! You have everyone for you while I have no one! That mate could be the only person that could fill the void in my heart but you also took her away from me!”

The more he talks, the emptier I get. How did he become this kind of person? I make sure to treat him like my brother. He is my best friend! How could he think this way after all I have done for him?!

“As of now, there is a big party of assassins and rogue wolves waiting for the alpha king and queen luna. They are spent and tired from the war and dealing with the assassins could not really end well for them,” he continued, making me feel sicker than ever.

He held my wrist, who's keeping him down to the ground. “Give me Alana and you will save your parents, William. Let us go so we can be happy together.”
