The Alpha Prince's Abused Mate Chapter 189
ALANA
I clenched my hands around William’s when I realized what was happening.
My tears fell but I did not open my eyes and continued calling for William’s name.
“My love… William, it’s me, Alana. Please, come back to me, my love. Please, fulfill your promise to me.”
The stench of more fresh blood coming from Francine assaulted my senses but I continued shutting my eyes even when all I wanted to do is to stop it all.
“Alana, do not stop calling for his name. William needs you now. Please, I can almost sense him. I can see him now. Please, call for his name again.”
I let out a sigh and called his name over and over again. The hand for which I am holding ever so tightly started to have life again.
My heart leaped, rejoicing because maybe, he is finally going to be alive again but all of that happiness went away when I heard the grunt of pain in Francine’s voice.
It took all of strength in me and mental fortitude to let go of William’s hand and opened my eyes at her.
Truly enough, I could only gasp in shock.
There she was, standing in front of me, covered in her own blood, cutting her wrist deeper and deeper using a silver dagger.
Her expression is serene as if she was looking forward to doing it for decades now.
“Francine, what are you doing?” I asked in a whisper, surprised at the view that I would be seeing.
Would I also lose her like how I lost William?
She just smiled at me before replying. “Alana, hold William again, please. Call for his name again. He heard you this time. I have already reached him. He can come back. He will come back.”
More tears flowed out from my eyes. “Are you telling me that William is going to come back into life in exchange for you? Does it mean I have to kill you for him to be back alive? Why can’t I keep the both of you here with me? Why does it have to be this way?!”
Francine put his hand down and walked towards me, the blood trailing to the floor. “Alana, this is just nothing. I am just doing what I came here for. There is a reason why I sacrificed half of my life to keep your memory in William’s head so he would never forget you.”
She smiled at me despite the wince of physical pain in her eyes. “I have to die so William will be back to you. Just promise me one thing. That both of you would have be happy and have lots and lots of children th-”
“No!” I cut her off while backing up. “Francine, I cannot let this happen! If William is here, he will not like this. I know he will be the one to stop this madness. This is not right! I cannot swallow the fact that you have to die for the sake of the both of us! Yes, I want William to come back alive. Yes, I want him so badly to be alive but not like this Francine! Not like this! I cannot let you sacrifice for the both of us. You don’t have to do this. This is our bitter fate, then I will just have to accept this until the day that I die, until I get to see William again. Please, just let me accept it. Do not waste your life on us anymore, Francine.”
Smiling, she walked up to me and caressed my face. “This is not a sacrifice on my part, Alana. Do not think about that. In fact, dying and knowing that William is going to live is redemption for me. This world is not my home. I belong somewhere else. You are going to do me so much favor if you just let me do what I came here for.”
She hugged me and kissed my hair. “Please, Alana. Will you be so kind as to do this for me? Just like you, I also want to see my loved ones. For almost a century, they haven’t seen me.”
I looked into her eyes bearing so many questions but I did not have the energy to ask her. Instead, I just took her hands and kissed them hard while shaking my head.
“Do not let us lose you, Francine. Please, no. I am not going to lose you too, okay?”
She only laughed, the fine lines on her face appearing and disappearing. “You are not going to lose me, child.”
She pointed a finger on my chest. “I will live here. Forever. In both of your hearts.”
I kept on shaking my head, gasping for air, and telling her I won’t let her die for us.
“Can you do me a favor, Alana?” she asked, once again after a few minutes. “Can you end my suffering in this world? Can you promise me that you will live with William the happiest that you can be until it’s time for me to guide you to the other side?”
Tears drenched my whole face and I could barely open my eyes to see her face.
“Francine… please, don’t do this. I can’t let you do this.”
She reached for my hands and gently pushed me back towards William.
“It’s okay, Alana. It’s fine, my dear. This is reality. This is my purpose. Please allow me to fulfill my existence in this world so I can go back, so I can finally rest too.”
I looked at her face and my tears flowed again when I saw her begging at me. Patting my head, she pinched my cheeks playfully which only brought more sadness in me.
Why is she smiling? Why is she so happy?
“If I could be born again, I want to be your mother. I want you to be my daughter. I will give you all the love in the world.”
She kissed both of my cheeks before pleading at me again.
“Come on, Alana. Close your eyes again and let this be over. Please, let this old hag finally rest. I am exhausted too, Alana.”
